  1. I'm here for spicy CR Derka
  2. She can't really say anything else this close to the election. Doesn't matter what she herself believes, the Israeli lobby is very powerful and unconditional pro-Israel sentiment has been baked into every aspect of our government and public life. Hell, in the state of Texas, you'd likely lose your job in the blink of an eye if your employer's HR department found out that you expressed even a mild anti-Israel sentiment publicly, especially if you are a state employee. She and her campaign are smart enough to know that if she expresses anything but unconditional support at this time then she is fucked. The attack ads and pro-Trump campaigning from the AIPAC side of things would turn on like a light switch. This also likely would have happened (perhaps to a lesser degree) had they allowed a Palestinian-American to speak. Israeli lobbyists would go absolutely apeshit in either case. Honestly I think about the fact that the likely next President of the United States is powerless to even hint that Israel could be even somewhat in the wrong at her own god damn nomination and it's extremely depressing. I'm not making the assumption that she would even be inclined to, I'm just saying that if she was, she legitimately 100% would not be able to. I think about that and the fact that Bibi has more power over Congress than any actual sitting Congressperson and it depresses me.
  3. Band chicks are slutty as hell dude it was great
  4. I doubt it. All the rumors point to her being just as big a shitheel as Trump is. e: As I typed that I realize that doesn't mean she wouldn't vote Biden just to spite him, I guess.
  5. On the flip side, there's also the very real risk that the speaker would go on stage, not say anything the DNC would find objectionable, and get booed by the crowd anyway. Either way it's a bad look and not worth the risk for the campaign. There are other places they can more safely platform these guys if they want.
  6. I had pretty much the exact same thing happen with one of my aunts (Jewish as well). Her position is very silly but I didn't want to bust her up over it. Given what I know about her, her threats to not vote D for president were likely hollow, but I laid out pretty clearly for her how much worse Trump is for both Israelis and Palestinians in both the short and long runs anyway. Like I said, she was likely voting blue either way, but I told her to stop listening to John Fetterman (she is Pennsylvanian) and instead read between the lines of what Kamala has been saying.
  7. She understands the assignment.
  8. Gimme the Dave Grohl/Dolly Parton collab we all didn't know we needed until I just said it
  9. Their goal is to put a voice and a face to the Palestinian cause. Right now there isn't one in America, and that's by design. We censure Palestinian-Americans here, we don't platform them. I challenge any of you to to listen to Abbas Alaweih speak just once and then come back and tell me that he's some kind of threat to Harris' campaign. It's laughable. He's the poster child for Midwestern blue public health nerd. He just wants their story to be heard, and deservedly so. That said, I agree with @956 Worldwide in that it's laughable to think that they would allow anyone that may voice a dissenting thought up there. It sucks, but it's reality. Especially when it's an all-out love fest right now that is entirely strategic and making the RNC look like sad old sacks of shit in comparison. It's incredibly obvious why it's not being allowed and while I want them to be heard, I understand it. The notion that their tactics are wrong or bad or that they're hurting the ceasefire cause/anyone at all is completely laughable, though. Anyone that spouts off that ChatGPT ass shit should be embarrassed.
  10. Can you explain to me what exactly about their tactics is wrong? It seems like their request is a very reasonable one. How exactly are they harming the goal of a cease fire?
  11. Well shit we hit the nail on the head. Better give up, what's a little genocide funded by our government after all?
  12. To be clear I said in the other thread that asking them to endorse is entirely fair and that they should. Yes we know what's going on. You're not the smartest person in the room, relax.
  13. File this one under exhibit one million of the weirdly aggressively hostile othering that Palestinian people face in Western countries, aka what I was talking about in the DNC thread. Everyone knows you can't trust "them" is certainly an uplifting message.
  14. Ok cool I get it, thanks.
  15. I hope it's Tommy Tuberville tied to a cuck chair
  16. I don't even understand what you mean when you say you believe in politics. Everything is politics. Nothing changes without politics. I'm honestly unsure of what you're trying to say here. I'm not trying to be argumentative, I just don't get it. You're referencing MLK here and you clearly understand his philosophy about protests: They need to be disruptive and make people uncomfortable while also being strictly non-violent. That's the ONLY way any protest is ever effective. And yet, despite this, you finish off by saying you hope that they stay within their designated spaces and are not disruptive. This is the disconnect I keep hammering on with regard to the discourse around these protests. The rules put in place with regard to when, where, and how protestors can operate are there for one reason only: To diminish the effectiveness and minimize their voice. It is never in the establishment's best interest to make protesting their actions easier.
  17. They should endorse, they know it's in their best interest, and they probably won't get a spot without it. I'm all for calling for Democrats to grow a spine, and they seem to be doing that, but they're not going to let you speak at this DNC if you're going to be perceived as negative about Kamala. Plus there's still this weird climate around any conversation regarding Israel where many otherwise progressive people are still super weirdly aggressively hostile toward anyone that's championing that cause, see a few of the recent posts in this thread.
  18. He means browns, gays, and poors.
  19. You're against borders? How progressive of you!
  20. Oh shit nevermind, this isn't a bug. I didn't realize it was a reshuffle tournament.
  21. Dug up the hand history on my hard drive, emphasized the important parts. 3c clearly dealt to me preflop and also on the river, so I guess that means it probably wasn't a UI bug. No word yet from ACR support. If any of you wants to post it on 2p2 if you have an account, feel free.
  22. You hold pretty good opinions about most things. I don't think you're a bad guy. I'm just pointing out one instance in which you went wild in one of the examples you gave about being shouted down. Also "this place" is the 2nd most active board on Surly, behind football, and has thousands of unique posters and lurkers. It has to be the most active politics boards out there (if not the most active) on a fundamentally sports-centric message board, so I'm not sure as many as you think are avoiding it.
  23. Idk about those other topics, but I member when you negged me for saying that Hamas doesn't represent Palestinians any more than Netanyahu represents Jewish people and then flipped your lid and said everyone supporting a ceasefire was a terrorist sympathizer. Could be crazy, but that's why you might have been "shouted down". Don't worry, your boy Macklemore had your back, though.
  24. Since we're airing make-believe grievances, maybe Huston wants to come out and throw his hat in the ring? @Horn75
