  1. I don’t know what he was doing, but I can probably surmise that he had a car or was driven to someplace nearby as the out for a near marathon length jog would be an outlier type of workout.
  2. Yeah, I’m going to take a guess that that was nearly 10-20 years ago. I’m sure some of the really small dealerships lack in video equipment, but I would imagine that most have pretty robust surveillance systems in place, and the advent of security cameras and ability to get pings off of phones make stealing even hubcaps from most dealerships a difficult proposition. Contractors can store their tools, but there’s plenty that can be stolen from a house build. Particularly one late into construction. That could be wiring. Or appliances. Our builder left the doors off the ovens etc to make them less attractive for thieves who might prowl the site. We had cedar beams meant for the porches stolen off the property. Its a far easier target with less security, and plenty of valuable items for those with a modicum of know how and intention. And it’s left virtually undefended or secured for months. I dont know. I just think how I felt or would feel if complete strangers were walking my property. I don’t do it. I’ve found that the ones who do do it and who bump into the rightful owners are usually ready to make a quick exit.
  3. Maybe not a great comparison. The dealership is full of goods that they want you to buy. Goods that are not easily removed from the property, and there’s ample video surveillance and documentation. It is automotive window shopping.
  4. They do, but the entire cabin is exchanged every 2-3 minutes, and the recirculated air helps with keeping enough humidity in the cabin. The HEPA filters installed supposedly kill 99.9% of everything that passes through them. Honestly, it’s likely the cleanest air you’ll breathe in your lifetime when you consider that most of it comes from the upper atmosphere above most pollution. My question is what is the point of empty middle seats when someone is sitting 20 some odd inches in front of and behind you?
  5. Unless it was Martin Short and Meg Ryan.
  6. Actually, based on their age, I think doo-wopping was more their speed.
  7. We had some people bop in to our house mid build and run into us while were inspecting the work. They were pretty embarrassed, made up a BS reason to be there and made a quick exit.
  8. Suspect was found with multiple gun shot wounds and drooling with a half stiffy.
  9. Flew directly over my house. Kids went crazy for it.
  10. They’re only giving it to pregnant woman and critically ill children as a “compassionate” medicine for last ditch efforts is my understanding. Much of the supply is allegedly being hoarded for testing. I dunno about millions of doses bringing down the price of the demand is very high.

  12. Hawthorne is a fun one to negotiate with LAX traffic. I flew freight in their a time or three, and then you had to take off and work with SoCal to get you across the LAX departure corridor to get over to BUR. They had a YF-23 sitting there for some time. I don’t know if it’s still there or not.
  13. It’s worked on everyone they’ve used it on. Granted, that’s not a big number yet, but it’s encouraging. Apparently the remdesivir is very, very expensive.
  14. My wife’s hospital group is seeing good results with convalescent plasma. Recovery seems to take about 6 days once the antibodies are administered. One case took about 10 days, but that individual had been on then vent for 3 weeks already. They dropped the Z pack part of the hydrochloroquine combo, but still administer the latter. Remdesivir is only being given to pregnant women and critically ill children as supplies are low.
  15. There’s still room for her with the ACMI’s, and UPS is laying their hands on as many 747-8’s as they can. But in that same vein of thought you’re about to see the 757-767-772 rapidly exit stage left as mainline aircraft.
  16. Animated tentacle porn saves nation from ravages of pandemic?
  17. Not hardly. Netjets has offered 1000 voluntary leaves of absence, roughly 1/3 of their pilot group, and Flexjet has cut their flying guarantee (just the pay guaranteed) by about 1/3. The super wealthy are largely sitting things out.
  18. If it was in Alternate Law then the only protection they had was load factor. They would have high and low speed stability trying to drop the nose, but stabilities can be overcome whereas protections cannot without turning off systems. The plane should have been screaming “Dual Input!” at them if thy were both using the stick at the same time accompanied by panel annunciations, and the summer input of both stocks would be sent to the flight controls.
  19. She was clearly extremely annoyed with him in many of those videos. That plus her frequent trips to the gym should have been a tip off
  20. I guess that’s why Jen left BatDad.
  21. Fear, panic and training. I’ve frozen up plenty of times and not reacted when the fecal fan interaction was in progress. Also, because of angle of attack protections in the Airbus, you can hold full aft stick and the aircraft will supposedly not exceed the critical angle of attack in normal law. Below thrust reduction altitude, usually 1000 feet, the procedure for Unreliable Speed/ADR Check procedures is to select TOGA power and 15 degrees nose up. At altitude it’s 5 degrees and climb power. Also, and I haven’t read the whole thing in a while, but the plane was probably not in Normal law meaning the angle of attack protection was inoperative. In fact, it was likely in abnormal attitude law meaning the flight controls were responding to direct pilot inputs with no protections. Lastly, the other FO and CA were unaware that the flying FO was holding full aft stick until he mentioned it very late into the situation. There is no visual or tactile indication of that fact with the other stick unless both are moved simultaneously.
  22. The short version is that they were getting unreliable indications leading to a stall situation, two FO’s were manning the flight deck, and one of them held full nose up inputs nearly all the way to the water.
  23. The 321 has the same basic wing as the 319/320, but can takeoff 20-30,000 lbs heavier than a 320 depending on variant. So it’ll never be a performer with regard to altitude, and any burble in the air could upset things in the coffin corner a lot easier.
  24. So the Philippines has decided to let the gays try to control this.
