  1. Don’t have to build water tight doors this way I guess.
  2. https://www.facebook.com/saltwtrrecon/videos/486095869618404/ Time lapse of the ship being raised.
  3. Battleship New Jersey Curator explains the reasons why they can’t just park the ship in mud or encase it in concrete like the Mikasa. 29:25 mark. And yes, someone needs to pull him aside and discuss his method of wearing a belt.
  4. Ryan Syzmansky or close to that. Just search for the Battleship New Jersey channel on YouTube.
  5. It’s less than ideal, but he’s clearly monetized his media and built up support to keep the NJ in good shape. Him being around the Texas is a very good thing. That last picture reminded me that they had a periscope in one of the engine rooms to observe the exhaust and refine the mixture in the boilers to make the ship less visible.
  6. Yup. It’s good stuff, and he has certainly taken the camera to every nook and cranny of that ship
  7. I believe the battleship New Jersey curator is going to pay a visit in preparation for that ship’s upcoming dry dock visit. He has a pretty solid YouTube following so that should help too.
  8. I thought the whole point was that they were going to reskin the entire hull below the water line.
  9. Great idea. The Roman figured this out 2000 years ago. Flood the dome and stage mock battles with the Texas reliving the a ruins it participated in. Profit.
  10. I think that becomes an issue as the hull is designed to be supported from all sides in the water and starts to sag otherwise. HMS Victory was having that issue. Perhaps, as suggested above, encased in concrete like the Mikasa might be an option. Where to park it so that it draws the visitors needed to support its upkeep will be interesting.
  11. I wasn’t really thinking about tailgating. I was thinking about playing in a more than half empty decrepit stadium. This looks like it could be a more intimate atmosphere with a usually full, albeit smaller even when built out, stadium. And it’s right next to downtown if that suits anyone’s needs for generic Hawaii and beaches.
  12. I think Hawaii could turn that temporary stadium into a fun atmosphere for their games with some work.
  13. If only one could surmise that an offensive system runs better with an actual NFL talent under center.
  14. I had more than a few private jet owners tell me that they did just that. One I really respected had us fly him to JFK where he met his kids. He told us they were flying coach over to Europe from there, because he wanted his kids to have some understanding and appreciation for what the average joe was doing. Or catch a ride on a ULCC and be see how many doctors are onboard when the FA’s ask for help with a medical emergency. You’re correct. It’s absurd.
  15. To each their own. I wouldn’t be relieving myself next to someone else, but by myself? No big deal. 18 hours in a Cessna? Yeah, that’s a special kind of suck.
  16. I’ve flown Brian Kelly in a private jet before so he travels that way sometimes too. He may have been traveling on donated hours or as supplemental lift, but he knew a shit ton about the product which suggests to me that it might have been on his own dime as well.
  17. Sporty’s has devices that solve this little conundrum. Or you could just buy a jar or repurpose a Gatorade bottle.
  18. I thought it was ok. I think part of the problem is that I was invested in the original GOT characters after having read the series, and everyone in the prequals are figures from the lightly fleshed out backstory. So I’ll give it some time to see if they can build up a character or three with the depth and dialogue that we saw in the original series.
  19. I don’t know, but that PA boot pass was absolutely effortless for all involved.
  20. Like the AA 737 at DFW. In the latter case they were tugged onto the edge line instead of the centerline and didn’t realize it.
  21. I feel like there’s probably a Samsonite brief case full of meticulously documented IOU’s being kept somewhere in the metroplex.
  22. It would be shocking at first, but eventually we’d become desensitized to it.
