Look, HISD had problems, but they were not at whatever Rock Bottom is. My kids attending Oak Forest Elm could have been better supported, but staff there were working within limits that were also coming from the state which limited support. Just because there were problems, bad actors, poor management, doesn’t mean the solution is to be reactive or to change everything, ignoring what was working and where, so one can install yet another system which has failed Miles in Colorado, Dallas, his charter schools, etc. Let me put it in a different context. If I wanted to make a new rifle to replace the M4 what would I do? Study the M4, find out what troops like and dislike, study the pros and cons with from battlefield results and economics and engineering? Or just toss everything aside and start from zero, possibly coming up with something better, but most likely coming up with something worse? After all, I only failed 3x before.
