  2. I've always just taken $100-200 cash to any country and ATM when l get there for local currency. More if it's a country on the dollar like El Salvador or Vietnam Cambodia etc. I almost always come home with the USD I took if it's a non USD country Dos and don'ts... Don't be an idiot and just be logical with your decision making
  3. Really surprised that's not a second yellow
  4. Seriously horrible lazy passing COYS!
  5. I've driven through it on my way Hue to Hoi An. Looks like a great spot. Right by China Beach and lots of super nice resorts .
  6. So I think because of the floods and rain I'm going to push Bali off to a better time. Instead I'm going back to Cambodia. Phnom Pen and the islands. I'll still keep Singapore and if I can maybe add KL
  7. Apparently my insensitive ass didn't realize that Bali is having horrendous floods and the entire island is flooded
  8. This is my concern dude. I was thnking some unders, thshirts and socks way down at the bottom might help me get a few more items in. Might give it a shot
  9. Put me in the camp that unless you want to go into a very very tightly networked industry like Wall St; it really doesnt matter where you go to school, relatively speaking. Especially if your kid has some work ethic and a personality. My son will end up with zero debt because he's getting free undergrad at Alamo College here and living at home. He wil be able to roll his 529 into his ROTH with an engineering degree from UTSA. He can spend the remainder of his 529 taking motorcycle mechnic courses because thats his passion. No AI or robot is going to fix a Ducati.
  10. So I think I'm pretty set unless someone wants to blow this iten up. With my being an empty nester in less than two years this will not be my last trip to SE Asia. I'll probably make a trek over to that part of the world once a year. 3 nights in Sai Gon - Food, drinks and motorbikes ringing in my ear 3 nights in Denpasar area in a nice boutique beach villa 3 nghts in Ubud - Temples and shit 3 nights in Singapore - Singapore shit
  11. Since we were on the topic of packing cubes. Anyone try those vaccum bags? Now those have me curious. With the use of laundry half way through a 10-14 day international trip I usually dont have any problems with one carry on 40L but a few extra items could be useful. Esp if I'm doing some adventours like mtn bike riding or a hike that requires specific shoes.
  12. Ubud looks pretty good. I do love me some temples. I dont mind some craziness and people watching I just need to be able to get away from it at some point and get back to some peace. I get along with everyone and I can make friends in a 60 plus only hotel or a hostel. No clue. I'd rather stay at some type of boutique hotel or resort. I dont like mega resorts. I like all kinds of food. I've eaten at multiple Michellin stars and I've paid .80 for Pho on a street in Ha Noi. I'm a 3.5 and up star but have spent some nights in some places that looked like a interogation room (hello Playa Maderas Nicaragua). I work quite a bit when I travel so wifi is important. I dont mind taking a taxi or renting a scooter for a day etc and then back to my balcony over looking the pool or beach etc. Spending the day out and about and comgin back to this looks pretty perfect https://majapahitbeachvillas.com
  13. I considered KL as well because as much as I like a nice scenic beach I actually prefer big cities. Art, people watching, good food etc. I did want to sneak in a few days staring at the ocean and driking a beer or six with nothing to do but lay in the sun. Maybe I go back to Cambodia instead. I've been wanting to check out their islands.
  14. Starting to see some of this. Plus I am far far away from the backpack 20 something crowd. I'm more of a 4 star AC private bath kind of traveler. Looks like Balis sister island Lombok is better and I can always take a ferrry over for a day or night.
