  1. No, that’s false. It’s not just wrong on the merits of that, it’s also not aligned to the voting behavior of so-called centrists. Heterodox voters do not occupy some kind of very policy-oriented middle ground between small and big government or high and low taxes. Medicare for All is objectively and empirically great branding. It was great on style and great on substance. It’s clear, immediate, certain, and tangible. It combines a popular thing with a universal thing, for everyone it alienated it picked up two, and it worked across the map. It’s old news now and they need to move to something new, but it didn’t cost Democrats anything and they should t have squandered it. Stop thinking in GOP framing. But Lamb didn’t win. Fetterman won, he’s popular, he’s interesting, and he’s not MAGA. You don’t have the luxury of choosing alies until your party stops losing the races that count. Except the election that he won in a swing state, Jesus.
  2. No, I’ll give you Sinema because she stopped being a co-belligerent but Fetterman and Manchin are exactly what I’m talking about Democrats welcoming more of. And if they don’t want to do that they should try not losing so much. Sorry!
  3. No. Being chickenshit about Universal Healthcare doomed the Democratic Party. ”Green New Deal” sucks*, Medicare for All is great branding and a great call to action. * and I love the idea of a Green New Deal
  4. Exactly. Not a hard call. I’m not sure he knows how to fight them, but he recognized early on what we’re collectively up against and broke with it at great personal and professional cost. Same deal with Liz Cheney. We’re fighting for our lives here. Democrats need to understand that being in the opposition means accepting the co-belligerents who are willing to work with Democrats to defeat a common threat. Whether inside or outside of the party, there’s no reason to worry about policy differences unless and until they win.
  5. Not in any race I can vote in. But for the record - it’s not a hard call. In the current environment, if my choice is a Republican vs ex-Republican I’m voting against the Republican.

  7. And what do we say to this hypothetical problem? Not today…
  8. Yeah, it’s hard to even compare Wilt to modern era players because the numbers are so mind boggling.
  9. Say what? I’ve always expensed tips. I don’t travel with a dog, but I tip about $10/night
  10. Hard to argue with a guy who scored 100 points. I think I’d also put Olajuwon just outside of the top 10.
  11. It’s Jokic, but it shocks me that Magic Johnson and Oscar Robertson aren’t listed here, because they are both top five offensive players all-time.
  12. This is extremely well said and is not only a great summarization of whats wrong with the entire mindset of the report and the party in general. The entire idea, for example, that “Medicare for All” as a policy proposal cost Democrats votes in the aggregate is fucking retarded.
  13. I think he’s handling this in a stupid way but it depends on what kind of points you are giving.

  15. Coming back to this- are you giving points? I may want action on this. “Deciding to Win,” wow. Joins other great works of self-examination like “working for money,” and “farting in the shower.”
  16. Meanwhile, Mavs suddenly getting a decent whistle and tie it up
  17. Im not making excuses for Cuban, but he’s by no means the sole culprit. The GM’s job is to maximize the value of the organization’s assets. Had either of the Nelsons still been in the organization they would have traded Brunson away if they thought Brunson leaving was a fait accompli. Much like the narrative that Cubes was solely responsible for Brunson leaving for nothing, the narrative that JB wanted to get out from under Luka does not seem supported by reporting since the Luka trade. What does seem indicated is that post Adelson acquisition, Nico worked very hard to first marginalize Mark Cuban, blame him for losing Brunson, and then subsequently to position Doncic as the bad guy.
  18. I think that’s right, but they certainly didn’t need to let him walk for nothing. NY and others reached out with offers. BTW- watching Reeves go off yesterday, it was really amazing to think of what Nico left on the table.
  19. Because this is what we do here. I specifically didn’t give Cuban a pass. What I did say is: And over the course of this interaction you have gone from here: To here: That feels like productive dialogue
  20. I’m not rewriting anything, but Nico’s failures do not begin and end with Luka. That would be enough, but it’s not all there is.
  21. According to McMahon’s book, Nico was involved:
  22. I’m genuinely confused. Nico was hired as GM a year before Brunson left, amid much ballyhoo about his relationships with players and agents, to wit: here’s Nico speaking on Brunson leaving, a year later:
  23. Nobody is saying, Mark Cuban wasn’t the final authority, but you’re giving Nico a pass on Brunson that he doesn’t deserve. Nico was the GM talking to players agents is the GM‘s job. Both of the Nelson’s took Cuban to the wall on multiple occasions and Nico didn’t.
  24. So you guys are saying that the GENERAL MANAGER hired in June 2021 played no role in negotiating an extension with Jalen Brunson before he signed with NY in July 2022? If that’s the case, Fire Nico. What do you think a GM does?
