  1. But those reasons are just your preferences. My counterpoint is the fact that they do use it everywhere it does exist. But that’s manifestly untrue, based on the business travel by air between the three big Texas cities despite the fact that there is minimal time advantage. it’s fine that you prefer to drive, and many will, but right now the law and policy environment of the State of Texas and United States is what’s stopping high speed rail development, not the free market. The demand signal from business travelers is incredibly strong. I’m a weekly business traveler also, by the way.

  3. So it is- probably renaming it “Department of War” which wouldn’t rustle my jimmies as much as most things.
  4. Apparently Trump Is having a presser today to talk about the CDC. @Anastasis will this be about 85% stuff or the 15%?
  5. I’ve had to figure out who got laid off twice in my career. It’s unpleasant work. I would love to say the exercise involves matching the skills the company needs to the go-forward strategy, but it’s usually just determined by where people wind up on a spreadsheet.
  6. Neither requires it. However, that executive from the article *may* have a fiduciary duty to reduce costs. Or not. It depends on their situation.
  7. Neither of you are fully correct about this. The question is situational, and we don’t have the facts of that company’s situation.

  9. Not cool to do that but I still laughed
  10. Y'all are joking around but it’s only a matter of time before somebody calls the DPS because they saw an old lesbian in the Men’s room and it turns out to be Dan Patrick.
  11. Are you saying that we don’t have it, so we shouldn’t let somebody build it, because you wouldn’t use it?
  12. For clarity: the Google IPO was 2004.
  13. I *wish* I had bought 1000 BTC when I first was told to in 2011, but I don’t *regret* it, because I had no thesis for investment at the time. I *wish* I had invested in Microsoft in the early 2000s when I was told to but I don’t *regret* it because I was skeptical of their tech and couldn’t imagine that they would continue to be as successful as they have. I *regret* not buying all the Google, Apple, Netflix and Amazon I could afford in 2003, because I was 100% certain they were going to be unstoppable for decades to come. I’m not going to feel bad about not having a crystal ball, but the big lesson of my 30’s-40’s was learning to trust my own judgement, and to recognize asymmetric upside when I see it.
  14. Just let that blow through your mind: in spite of being between two financial institutions, due to fraud risks you were correct to be MORE comfortable with a transaction that goes through an third party for a fee, can be held by the bank even after clearing, can take days for settlement, and can be reversed. And yet somehow that’s not even the most broken part of the payment system. Something like 1-1.5% of US GDP is just the hard cost overhead on making payments, and yet, this is the best we can do.

  16. 1) I hate this, but I'd rather lose this one than a conference game. 2) Arch didn't play well enough to win a game like this 3) D is salty and should be fine, but I'd like to see more pressure on the QB. 4) Wisner is better than Baxter in traffic 5) OL looks solid enough. 6) WR appears to be our weakest position group, but I'm curious why they didn't seem to have good footing. 7) We were in a position to win, and Arch was the weak spot today. Lots to work on.
