  1. I think we need to keep gritty but add a couch. Also we need a fuck you +rep Schell's beer is great, but that cream of mushroom? No gracias.
  2. Translation: he was told he didn’t make the short list.
  3. Exactly. I'm a huge proponent of high school vocational training in the trades, and I support companies and unions sponsoring such programs provided that it comes with appropriate protections, pay, and an equitable transition to the workforce. But just letting kids drop out to work in heavy industry, and take a skilled labor job from a working man for less pay is a terrible deal, and only a bad boss or the lackey of one could support it.
  4. It's a matter of degree, I think. Lawn mowers are incredibly dangerous, and I have seen both some near misses and some horrible accidents with them, but I don't think anybody would say they can't be opoerated safely by a teenager. That said (and what @Incredulity is being obtuse about here) is that there are any number of jobs in the trades that there simply isn't a good reason to open to anybody other but grown folks, or at the very least legal adults. Why are we talking about this here?
  5. No offense, but most of the people I know who talk like this have clean fingernails and drive F250s with no scratches.
  6. The right is starting to get better at comedy and it's making lefties nervous.
  7. We forge our tradition in the spirit of our ancestors. You have my gratitude.
  8. Have you even tried HEB Made In Texas creamy open face on some room temp white sandwich bread?
  9. More the latter than the former. If anything he ran as more of a moderate in his guv campaign than for senate.
  10. 4) he ran completely outside of and often to the extreme irritation of the Texas Democratic Party and the consultant class thereof. And one of the several differences between that campaign and his campaign for governor was their involvement. I criticize Beto around here a LOT. But ultimately the party is a muck bigger problem and many of his perceived errors are really their problems.
  11. Dale Watson is the voice of the cartoon that sings the song about fracking in cities for that exhibit. It's really catchy. My 21 year old daughter still sings it sometimes.
  12. FTR he's not "Democratic lite" he's "Campaigning zero." But sure, Democrats should keep doing the same thing they've been doing in Texas since 1994. It's reliable!
  13. And I saw the baby and the baby looked at me
  14. My guess is now that he’s joining forces with the TDP they’ll make the ultimate gesture of bipartisanship and just donate it to the Cruz campaign.
  15. + ETL and Rock Hill Farms are among the only single barrels that lives up to the hype.
