  1. I'm just pointing out his statement that Russia would soon be unable to produce more missiles was wildly wrong. I'll let you decide why he's wrong.
  2. I remember several months ago when you were convinced Russia was going to run out of missiles. Turns out, they're producing missiles at a higher rate than at any point before the war/sanctions.
  3. spawned out brookies are awesome. I love all the colors but that deep purple they get in their mouths is epic.
  4. Had a chance to check out @Braff Zacklin's backyard a few weeks back. We hit the same stream he posted about previously in the hopes of finding bull trout returning home after spawn. It's a stunningly beautiful creek surrounded by rugged country. We hiked in about 7 miles and watched as the creek went from slow meandering water with big runs to technical pocket water/plunge pools. We managed to find one bull and the cutties were plentiful and hungry. I'm haunted by all of the water I'll never fish and can rest easy knowing this creek ain't on the list anymore! Thanks Braff!
  5. Last winter I watched this asian dude with corn rows posing for pictures taken by his girlfriend at the base of a lift. Once done, he got on the lift which went to the top of the mountain. I was a couple of chairs behind him and when I got off the lift, it was clear he had never been on a snowboard in his life. The kicker: he didn't have gloves. Saw the dude about an hour later walking down the hill. Did it for the Gram.
  6. if you were fishing his rod he would've swabbed the deck i can promise you that. dirt kills fly lines real quick.
  7. me staring at that fly line sitting in all that dirt on the boat floor out of curiosity, were you fishing the guide's gear or your own?
  8. It's definitely illegal to be working on the mountain when not employed by the mountain. That said, there are lots of former instructors that bootleg for former clients, but it's not really instruction, it's more of a status thing for the clients that the uber wealthy do. They are just sort of a buddy that takes you around on the mountain. Finding someone off the street to teach a group of complete newbies isn't a viable strategy. Nobody wants to lose their season pass.
  9. If he (or you) are hellbent on college, and he wants to own a business, he should major in psychology. Owning a business is about finding a problem and then convincing everyone around you that you can solve it better than others. That means understanding how people think/work and how talk to people so they believe you. He should then take some computer programming classes and befriend as many of his classmates as possible. Then join as many extra-curricular groups geared towards entrepreneurs and network his fucking face off.
  10. I've gone that route and would tell him to skip college and take whatever $ amount you're planning on forking over for school and using it as seed money for whatever venture he wants to start.
  11. The best I've ever felt in my life was when I was consistently stretching. And yet I just can't find the discipline to do it regularly. Why am I the way I am?
  12. I kinda wanted the CU Cinderella Story to keep going but IF they were going to start losing I wanted them to get annihilated. I don't think that's because I'm a racist, I just enjoy watching people run their mouths then get their shit pushed in.
  13. Do any offer guarantees to make sure you aren't without powers for days on end during bad weather? That's who I would go with.
  14. My two cents: I think they'll get plenty of instruction in a group lesson with other beginners but I don't think 1/2 day is enough to learn the basics. I would do at least a full day and then another half day to just make sure they've buttoned things up from day 1.
  15. I had my most of one meniscus removed last summer, and have been having continual issues with both knees for awhile now. I've got skinny legs and while I'm really active I've never needed to weight train to do the things I've wanted to do. It's pretty clear those days are over and I have to strengthen my legs and try to take some of the heat off my knees. My plan is to be in the best shape of my life next summer at 44. The question is whether I can get through this ski season without major incident so I don't put a roadblock in front of that goal.
  16. no discernible air defense there. pretty bold move all hanging out in a building within range of cruise missiles that has no AD. good stuff, Russia!
