  1. Same here - I got mine "restored" a few years ago and now also have an EU passport. My kids should finish the process to get theirs as well shortly. My grandfather was a "partisan" against the Nazi's in one of the Baltic countries after being in the army there as a lieutenant. They were welcomed at first as they were seen as a counter to the pro-Bolshevik activities that were starting to take over the Baltics during the 30's. That ended quickly when the Germans disbanded the army so many in the military left and went "underground". As the Russians approached, he took the family and was able to get on a train westward. Train got stopped in Poland and all males between 13 and 60 were pulled off the train and "escorted" to another train headed east to help fight the Russian advance. He had told my grandmother to go to a town in Austria to wait for him (with my dad and sister). He jumped off the eastbound train and it took him a year but he met up with them in Austria (where my aunt had died of pneumonia while waiting...) They had an uncle who had migrated in the 20's that then sponsored them as refugees in the US and he spent the Cold War sending money and books to his friends who got left behind the Iron Curtain... My family cemetery there has headstones dating back to the 1600's with my last name on them (but the village and church were destroyed in the war - with most remaining relatives sent to die in Siberian gulags - and were never rebuilt and the land is part of a national park now). Needless to say - fuck Russia!
  2. As someone who stopped binging BB in season 3, a lot of the backstory stuff in BCS makes no sense... Had to google to figure out the Gene/Cinnabon backstory which was making no sense to me...
  3. Make sure to pour some bleach down your sink drain(s) that share drainpipe with your condensations pan(s)... Forgot to recently and have had 2 trips out from the plumber to clear 2 different sinks as the drain pipes could deal with the amount of water draining from the A/C's due to algae buildup which in turn overflowed the sinks and came to visit us downstairs... Luckily this happened both times when we were at home... Had bi-annual A/C checkup before the heatwave and they flushed the lines and added algaecide tablets but plumber was guessing that the amount of condensation coming off due to the extended heat overwhelmed the "system"... The drains were getting a half a gallon of runoff every hour I had to bail from the sink before the pipe got snaked... My insurance company (and ultimately, my wallet) needs to send my office a thank you for letting we work from home a few days a week...
  4. Frigging DME... I told them to just send me replacement supplies ONLY when I asked them. They sent me new nasal pillows that I didn't need as old ones still were fine. Then doctor called and said I needed new appointment before approving a new "prescription" as the DME was still trying to approve another shipment that I hadn't requested (I told them to reject the DME). Few weeks later and I get a box of new hoses and masks I didn't order... Now their billing department is calling to ask me to verify my insurance so they can send more. I told them I didn't want another damn thing as I previously told them not to send more until I requested it and now I have more than a year supply I still haven't touched... (I keep my mask and hose clean and sterilize them weekly and they all still work fine...)
  5. Frigging YouTubeTV - lost color all damn episode...
  6. Non-lawyer here but can't he just say FU and here's your billion termination fee as I can't get the financing?
  7. Mike Rowe showing how the generators are maintained at the base that was on fire: How America Works
  8. I think the opening scene of the (I think) first episode this season foreshadows the end. Remember the gaudy house being packed up and everything being moved out/confiscated? We saw that house again today...
  9. So does Mike get fired in the next episode for doing a crap job of protecting Gus? And as far as I can tell, this underground area is just that - just a hole in the ground but no lab is actually in it (unless I totally missed it...) Yes, it's gonna be a cook area but has it actually been used yet?
  10. Comal is great in the morning but it's nasty toilet by late afternoon in the summer. Buddy has a house near the public exit and I brought my dog with me on a guys weekend so he could swim and be a chick magnet (aww, can I pet your dog?) After 2 days in the Comal, we had to make him (dog) sleep outside at night since he stunk so bad from being in the water and it took two trips to the groomer to get rid of the smell...
  11. No clue - I don't do C other than what was set on the unit...
  12. I don't know about commercial leases but I assume that the lease cost include utility costs? Crank it down if I'm not paying... Lived in KL for a few years and the company paid our utilities so we had all the A/C's set to 17C and slept under down comforters...
  13. I'm more than happy with my GE especially since my card covers the cost. I haven't gotten it for the wife and teens since they have done overseas once in 3 years because of COVID and with the Clear trial and with MP app, it hasn't added any time to my travel in the past 3 years. (MP line in IHA was almost as fast as GE,,) Wife will get her GE this year as she will be coming on business trips with me in the coming years as the kids are old enough to now leave at home... Bigger issue for me will be when the fam all goes back to Europe as kids and I also have EU passports while wife doesn't so we'll have to wait in the non EU citizen line with her or divorce proceeding will initiate...
  14. Thankfully we had plenty of time, but is it asking too much for them to have a rudimentary knowledge of a program that CBP offers? I know you're in Canada, but it is a US Customs area you are going into. I used to travel to Calgary quite a bit for work. Even with a GE card, they wouldn't let you jump to the front of security so I went ahead and got a NEXUS card. It's a pain to obtain and to renew as you basically have to do an interview in Canada as well to get one...
  15. Finally got my GE renewed after 4 months on the day I was actually returning to the US (but didn't need to do another "interview"). Family was in tow - they don't have GE -and we used the "Mobile Pass" app to digitally fill-out the entry form and submitted it when we landed. At IAH, if you used the app, you have a special line where you jump the line and we got through almost as fast as I would have with GE... Costs nothing...
  16. Many trips to Venice due to cheap flights from Oslo so we went there multiple times just because of the cost. Used Venice airport as a base to drive to other locations after the first trip as we got bored there after the first trip...
  17. Late to the discussion but we got bored of Venice after a few days (19 Euro Norwegian flights from our home at the time so multiple trips)... Rented a car and drove over to Spit in Croatia over the course of a week the last time we were there and loved various stops along the route. Still not as good though as an agriturismo in Tuscany...
  18. I didn't realize Mai's reopened after the fire...
  19. We rented a condo on 40th between 5th ave and the beach in PDC. Lots of nice resturants/bars in the area 38th and 5th area and a great location if you are looking for a more laid back, non-party scene. The beach club right at the end of 40th was perfect for us - 500 pesos per person for chair and umbrella with the full amount credited to food and drinks. The north end was much more chill -residential/expat - than closer to centro which was more touristy. Beaches ok but we took a day trip to Cozumel on the ferry and most definitely it was better there for clear water and snorkeling. We did like the vibe in PDC more than Isla, Tulum, Akumel or Puerto Adventuras in terms of going out to eat and hitting the local bars and having a variety... Wife even discussed getting a place in the area for when we retire in a few years... Teens found a workout place on 28th and we had no fear when they took off on their own to work out. Of course, wife and I caught Covid while there so are dragging now that we are back...
  20. Miško Broliai need to remember their roots and start blowing up some Russian rail lines again...
  21. Looks like a fun trip home flying from Cancun to Houston tomorrow...
  22. https://m.facebook.com/RedSargazo/ Good site for the status of beach conditions and the seaweed...
  23. He actually did something before being an announcer as well...
