  1. Boiling Point was pretty good. It's an evening in a London restaurant following the head chef and staff over the course of one evening. What's really impressive is that it filmed as one take (at least I didn't see any place where the filming stopped) and its like a play done in 3D where the stage is moving with the camera.
  2. invited = figured
  3. Agreed and they like to show their tits! My single friend had a blast once he invited out to never disagree with a woman. He used to get picked up at bars all the time but finally "settled down" when he went home with a chick and found her male "partner" bottle feeding her kid and he got up and said "bang her brains out - its her night out this month...". Too much for him so he bailed...
  4. In a sec! (I used to have a connection that could get me a table easily but no mas...) Kiin Kiin is also great (Only Asian restaurant with a Michelin star)
  5. I equate Denmark to California - it does have some great places to visit and things to do. Would I ever want to live there again? Absolutely not... It is a great place to raise young kids and for the most part is very safe (as long as you avoid the areas where the Middle Eastern refugees have taken over). It's expensive as hell - my income tax would have been 57% but because of a waiver, I "only" paid 47% income tax. Then add 25% VAT on everything, cars have over 100% tax on the value ($65K for an Opel wagon with a stick!) and additional taxes added to everything... We would do a monthly run to buy cases of beer, soda and beef in Germany as the Danish taxes were much higher on these than in Germany... (Norwegians go to Sweden to shop while the Swedes go to Denmark and the Danes go to Germany...) This influences the work practices there - since they are taxed so high on what they make, don't spend a moment working longer than is required... (Fair enough regarding the work/life balance)It's a totally socialist society - if you think your neighbor had a car that is too expensive for what you think they make? Report them to the tax authorities and they will get audited... (Side note: While Denmark doesn't do this, in Norway they actually publish everyone's salary and taxes once a year so you can keep track of what your neighbors/co-workers make...)The whole system is based on everyone working full-time jobs - a stay-at-home mother is unheard of except in the expat community. Work stops at 4 so you can run to the school to pick up your kid and then rush to the grocery before it closes at 6 to buy food for the evening. (This has since changed and you can shop some stores until 9).My wife went into our bank to try to have her government child subsidy check - all women regardless of income - get paid around a $800/kid/month until the kid is 18 - into our joint account and the woman banker tried to convince her not to as I might "steal her money" from our account. The wife had a good laugh with that one as she told the banker that she is actually stealing all my money...) Danes love to talk American politics with you and tell you how screwed up the US is regardless of who is in power. But if you ever try to discuss Danish politics, you are basically told you don't have the right to discuss their politics since you aren't a Dane... Not to be sexist but women run the country and the men have all been neutered. As a male, if you disagree with the comment or opinion that comes from a Danish woman, you get the evil glare of death or are told to F-off... The Danish men know better than to have a different opinion and just sit there and nod because they know what will happen if they disagree... This is the basic mindset of those living in the Scandinavian countries called the the "Law of Jante":You're not to think you are anything special. You're not to think you are as good as we are. You're not to think you are smarter than we are. You're not to imagine yourself better than we are. You're not to think you know more than we do.You're not to think you are more important than we are. You're not to think you are good at anything. You're not to laugh at us.You're not to think anyone cares about you. You're not to think you can teach us anything.
  6. Visiting there is great - living there for a few years, not so much...
  7. You would have thunk Bobby and Gerry might have asked him in the interview on what he thought of Quinten...
  8. Just after posting, I got a notice the one I got online has been sent to shipping...
  9. Damn, this backlog because of the recall sucks... The DME called me over 2 weeks ago and said it would take at least 8 days to clear it with insurance and 2 weeks later, they won't return my calls. As its the end of the year and have met my deductible, I said screw it and bought my stuff online from an Aetna network provider and they said I still might not get it before the end of the year... Argh...
  10. Why did the name Hope Solo pop into my mind when I saw the second and third picture... 😀
  11. Injury update?
  12. Out today first 2 episodes good so far...
  13. Available now...
  14. This is where I was leaning especially since their feet might not yet stop growing. My old man got me a pair of elephants when I graduated high school and I still wear them today....
  15. They'll inherit a bunch of nice skins once I'm gone but I was thinking a pair of f-around first pair that they still might grow out of since both are about 4" below their expected height (but the 10.5 feet have stopped growing for at least a year) which is why I was hedging my bet with a Tecovia/Quero pair (or even the crappily made into Justin's...) as all they wear is sports shoes and sandals since they can wear shorts to school. Even a crappy pair will last for years if you only wear them 3 times a year...
  16. Without re-reading the thread - my 16 year old twin boys feet have stopped growing and I wanted to get them a decent set of ropers for Christmas. I was initially thinking going the Cuero/Tecova route but was also thinking thinking I'd like to get them something similar to the old school Red Wings everyone wore in high school/West Campus (back in the 80's). Anyone know what the current "frat boy boot" style/brand the kids are wearing today?
  17. So is there any reason not to just buy one of the smaller travel machines as my primary machine initially other than the smaller ones not having the humidifiers? (Buy one the first time rather than 2?) I expect my travel will increase the next year and I usually just try to go with a carry-on bag when I can...
  18. @MoJamesThanks! Do the DME's do anything regarding the initial settings or do I really care since it's an APAP and just buy it direct from someone with the prescription? (Or will that pressure setting info be in the prescription direct from the sleep doctor?)
  19. Did a home test the other night and Dr. called and said I have severe apnea (65.5?) and recommended I get an APAP machine and sent my info to a supplier. They called just now and said they need to do the paperwork with doctor and insurance and will call me in the next 5-10 days for a machine. Question for you based on what is in earlier posts - I have no clue what the next part of the process is but can I just ask the doctor for a APAP prescription and get pay for it myself and send the bill into my insurance? (My sleep doctor was in my Aetna network so I assume so is the vendor...) Am I stuck this route to get all the settings/fittings correct the first time? Should I contact my insurance and ask them directly? I'm more than happy to just buy it outright rather than some monthly plan where they charge my insurance 2x the cash price because of interest, etc... (Plus, I don't really want to have to wait 1-2 weeks to get the equipment now that I know it's "severe"...)
  20. Anyone have a good solution for storing pots and pans in a cabinet? I've got an island with one big open space under the stove where we have all our pots/pans/dutch oven/pasta pot with strainer insert/wok/cast iron skillets and grills of multiple diameters and heights. Am thinking of putting in a stainless steel shelf(s) to give me some vertical stacking space and something on the inside of the cabinet doors to put the lids but was wondering if any of you have any suggestions/recommendations... I'm tired of having to lift 6 pans to get to the cast iron skillet on the bottom of the stack and digging under a bunch of pots to find the right sized lid...
  21. Am I missing something here? It doesn't make me get overly excited - unless something is different in Canada - as filing for a patent is totally different than having been granted a patent... Unless this means that since the patent was approved in the US already and just being registered/filed in those other countries just to get the existing patent recognized there. (I had my name on a patent application a few years ago but it was eventually rejected by the US Patent office 5-7 years later...)
  22. Yea, AMY has been a good example on how to make 50% of an investment disappear...
  23. Pancho's (before I found Chinese buffets), Gatti's and at the time, my all time favorite burger when day topped up the account - G&M Steakhouse...
  24. Watch this (posted on another thread) - it's a bit slow at first but sets the foundation for their conclusions...
  25. Typo - $1000 round trip for 2. I'm in Houston and normally fly BA for business but to use Avios points, I avoid using points where I have to fly through LHR because of the stupid taxes so I need to either pass through Dallas to use miles with AA or Miami to use them with Iberia and fly direct to the desired Europe location and skip LHR...
