  1. Good to know! I sent a pair of my old elephants to get fixed a few year ago and he did a great job. I have a pair of my dad's old elephants I wanted to get redone but I guess I better find another place now...
  2. Sling also has a similar device as does Amazon. I chose the Tablo 3 years ago as it was the best deal for me. It does require a subscription to get the updated programming guide and I screwed up by buying a yearly renewal (as opposed to a lifetime one) AZ I assumed there would be a better replacement or a hack. After 3 years, I've now crossed the threshold where it would have cheaper to have bought the lifetime one as opposed to paying for year 4...
  3. What happens when you launch the app on your fire stick?
  4. The beauty of YTTV is you can have it activated on a bunch of different devices and can watch it on up to 5 devices at the same time. That's one reason I live YTTV over the other options...
  5. When you try to launch the app, it should tell you to go to a website (on the tv) and to put in the code that is displayed on the tv to activate that tv to your account
  6. Use your phone or pc to create an account online first.
  7. Just buy it and create an account your phone or another device and then use that info to sign in...
  8. I have one OTA antenna in the attic and run the coax into the back of my Tablo which sits next to my router/switch. Tablo app on every SmartTV or FireBox/Stick connected wirelessly to Tablo and the hard drive attached. Bought the Tablo for the recording of the OTA signal back when you couldn't get local channels on PSTV. Once PSTV went away and I switched to YTTV which had local stations, the Tablo just sat there unused until the freeze hit in Feb and lost internet. Plugged it, antenna and to UPS and generator and had local tv back. I now use it to record and watch football games/sports in better HD than YTTV (I hate commercials so I record everything so i can skip them...)
  9. BS... This is just a theory and model that has been "poo-pooed" in the geology community... It assumes the whole island does a "cannonball" (like the image above) rather than a "landslide" into the ocean... Think of the difference of pouring a bucket of dirt in a lake vs. "dumping" it all at once... Yes, either could cause a tsunami but you aren't going to see a 25m wall of water wipe out the whole east coast... (Yes, it could happen but the odds are probably as good as me winning the lottery tonight...) Even the Alaska example was a "black swan" event - narrow inlet channel and a seabead bottom that formed a "V" that accentuated the wave... (That being said, if you have a house say, at Hilton Head, and want to sell it to me for $10, ignore what I said...)
  10. So has he ever played this season or did he actually bail on his senior season?
  11. Have YTTV mainly for the multiple streams, DVR and local channels (I miss PS Vue!). Watching YTTV and seeing a lot of ads for youneedchannels.com. Anyone have any scoop?
  12. Good episode - I laughed out loud a few times...
  13. This is exactally what I tried and didn’t find it any faster than my Velop WiFi 5 mesh but I did find the user interface better than what I had with the Velop and if I hasn’t already had the current mesh, I would have kept it...
  14. I’m about to watch the next episode and will post my comments before I go to bed without a spoiler alert just to give you guys something different to bitch about...
  15. Feeds 35? Closer to 15 in my experience... My 24 incher feeds 8-10...
  16. Will research but I thought it was the worst episode of the season
  17. Hell, we had all the A/C units in our house in Malaysia (one per room) set at 68 and slept under a down comforter and had condensation on the inside of every window back in the day when the company was paying for all the utilities... Now that I think about it, maybe that's why they transferred me to Norway next... Saturday afternoon can't come fast enough...
  18. So menopause has hit your household as well?
  19. Back when I was traveling back and forth to Calgary, you needed to have the card to jump the security cue in Calgary and sometimes only Nexus holders got the jump. I went ahead and got the Nexus card but now that I tried to renew my GE, I included Nexus but you can't do that renewal at normal GE offices and he nearest one to Texas is St. Louis... Of course if you paid for the NEXUS renewal and then decide you want just the regular GE, you need to start over and pay the fees again...
  20. I set mine up 7 years ago and looked at the prices if I were to do it again. My screen was set for 1080p and it looks like you can get something similar for under $1000 for a ceiling mounted, roll down screen but if you get into 4K screens, you are looking in the 2-3k range... Thanks for the post, it “forced” me to reconnect my projector and screen after not having used it for at least 2 years...
  21. Can you “black out” the basement? I put a 100” screen and an Eason HD projector into our game room upstairs but the room doesn’t get dark enough until the sun goes down (wife objected to black out curtains...) The biggest pain in the butt I had was needing to run a long HDMI cable with a splitter from the A/V system. For the amount I spent on the screen and the projector, you could probably buy an LCD screen almost as large as the projector screen for the same price (or less)... We have a large LCD in the same place and tend to use it more than the projector...
  22. When I'm wired directly to either the Velop or the Deco, I get 900+mbs but with wifi on any device physically sitting next to either one of the routers, I'm getting in the 200-300 range... Only thing I was thinking is that I have several devices connected and streaming to the mesh (tv's, Xboxes) that are on when I do the test. Is this "watering down" my thru-put speed? To get the higher test speeds, do I need to disconnect everything else? (4 streaming devices at the same time each pulling down 200+?)
  23. So what kind of speeds are considered good/great on a wireless5G connection? I got 1GB fiber installed and was using the Velop Wifi5 Triband AC6600 described above. I'm getting 900+mbs when my laptop was plugged into the wired connection at the router but am getting 200-250's over Wifi. I went and purchased a Deco Wifi6 AX5700 this week and am not seeing my speedtests get any faster over Wifi (sitting a few feet from the router) than I was getting with the Velop setup. Is 200-300mbps the best I should expect to be getting?
