  1. never gets old…. 😆
  2. I've never been there but the alternative to "being open until sold out" is either having food left over or being open AFTER sold out. Neither one is sustainable in craft bbq. If you want to be Dickey's maybe... Put me in the bad idea category.
  3. After inhabiting the Americas for some 15,000 years (and counting), we have found "literally" hundreds of thousands of artifacts used in the hunting, butchering and eating of game animals, AND the cultivation of certain plants, but no one, no one ever, found an artifact associated with pulling the wings off a cricket. 🤔

  8. Link I remember seeing her in One Million Years BC as a young adolescent on the 3pm Million Dollar Movie after school. Revolutionary.
  9. Phat Eatery is great. Its not a fancy restaurant - it features Malaysian street food with typical Indonesian thrown in. Rotis and rendang, etc. Cool vibe and great food. Recommended.

For lunch, You might look into Pappa Charlie’s and Killen's. They’re across the freeway from each other I think. I’ve been to both but in other locations.

At the NW corner of 290 and Jones is a small strip center with a Starbucks at one end and a breakfast taco place at the other. The name escapes me, but I can find it if interested. They close at 2pm or something but they have great tacos and a constant stream of customers. That should work for you. For BBQ at dinner, your best bet probably "is" Rudy's. BBQ in these parts is pretty much breakfast and lunch. It's all dried out by dinner. As for Truth BBQ, you're probably as close to the Brenham location as the Houston one, time wise. Traffic is about the same but at least it's all going the same direction.

  15. People lose their jobs in Hollywood based on their political opinions. His personal negligence killed somebody. I swear,...this place sometimes....
  16. Loved Rita's. My son went to Stratford so we were there often. The move up to Westheimer killed them and even though several other restaurants have been in that center for a long time, there have been a plethora in that end space where Rita's went. None more than a few months. Pita+ Cafe was Bosnian. Loved that place. Knew the owners Bobo and Omer. Bobo sold out and moved up north. Omer kept it going and expanded into the Galleria area on Richmond. Proved just too much. Hoe Sai Gai, San Felipe and Post Oak. For my fourteenth or fifteenth birthday, or somewhere around there, my family met there for a BD lunch. There were probably eight to ten of us. We had a big round table with a lazy susan and everyone ordered a dish and shared. We had soup and egg rolls and fried rice and all of the overly sweet dishes that were prevalent then. The check comes and my late uncle says everyone can just give him cash and he'd put it on his card. We're in the parking lot saying goodbyes to each other and the manager and the waiter come running out screaming at us. "Only $2 tip? Why only $2 tip?". We never went back. Almost fifty years later and it's still a family joke. It comes up multiple times a year. Great memories.
  17. I saw that. The player got it right, and then Ken said disgustedly, "Yeah, the Astros". I'm guessing he's not a fan.
