  1. Hard pass. I grew up before Sesame Street but I know a money grab when I see one. If I want to see puppets screwing, I'll go back and rewatch Team America.
  2. I've been in the private sector - they expect results.
  3. Regarding the MaryAnn vs. Ginger debate, I suggest most of us on #TeamMaryAnn, are there because we grew up watching Gilligan reruns in our adolescence and teens and MaryAnn represented the romantic girl next door. Ginger was the Playboy model that was definitely fappable but ultimately unattainable. It's just a theory. Based on a literal reading of the thread title, (i.e. sitcom "characters" as opposed to the actors who played them), I'll submit: Fred Sanford Dr. Harry Solomon Howard Wolowitz (I know Shaggy/Surly loves to hate BBT, but Howard is a great character) Dan Fielding Murphy Brown (although I don't look forward to the revival at all)
  4. Inre: ChebaHut Uhmmm. They're pretty out front with their gimmick. It may still be a few years until Texas becomes a viable market for them, but who knows?
  5. New player at the table! New player! Texas - 38 Tulsa Time - 10 PS - I just found this the first thread and it was bittersweet reading it from the start with the "foreknowledge of hindsight". The naivete and innocence was compelling. I love you guys. (But I repeat myself...)

  7. Park's closed. Moose out front shoulda toldja.
  8. Grandparents are the best! Childcare in exchange for Chilis. What a deal.
  9. Craigslist. Both Houston and Austin are showing dozens.
  10. You might at least have mentioned he played basketball for The University of Texas. It's sorta relevant for this board anyway.
  11. If you're older than dirt and have a couple of days to kill, check out THIS THREAD on Houston Architectural Forum. The thread was started over a decade ago, but since it's about long-gone places, it's all still relevant.
  12. Pleez tell me someone can make a gif of Harris freezing the runner on the pickoff. That's a classic deer-in-headlights move.
  13. And apparently, that's all there is to it. I guess they can shut down CERN now.
  14. I loved Monterrey House back in the day. It was one of the few places we would go out to in the mid to late '60s. We would hit the one on Airline just west of I45 in Houston and then hit up the Airline Drive-In. I remember seeing True Grit there after it came out in 1969. I still occasionally get that cajeta candy at my local carneceria once in a while. We also used to eat at a little cafe on Shepherd just north of the Sears in the Garden Oaks area. It was the first place I ever had 1000 Island Dressing; (weird I remember that). There was an associated higher end restaurant behind it that we NEVER ate at. Anyone have any idea what that might have been?
  15. Use your nose. It knows. But when in doubt, throw it out.
  16. Pete's Fine Meats in Houston. I started going there for steaks and on Saturday, handmade tamales back in the '80s when they were at Briar Forest and Wilcrest. We used them twice in the last year for fresh turkeys. They can order just about anything.
  17. I remember both Yamin's and Strawberry Patch. You're old. Like me.
