  1. Way back in the late 80s/early 90s... I wanna say 1991? There was a comment in a review article by the author that said, more or less: "The computer you want to buy is always $3000." In the intervening years I've found this to be a great guideline that remains true today. If you set that as your budget, you will be very happy with what you get for a long time, without spending money on things you won't need or use.
  2. it gets even better I think the end of S2 was what everyone thought was peak Star Wars before Andor came out. No spoilers. You gotta keep watching it.
  3. We're all geniuses here.
  4. I'm not saying there is. What I AM saying is that there's something wrong with paying more than 2 digits to do so.
  5. Well... now I'm digging through to see if I can find the original source for that Venn Diagram and I haven't found that but man am I ever finding shit. Like this:
  6. Well, this is an unofficial sim, but it sure does sound a lot like the real thing.
  7. Ding a ding dang my dang a long ling long.
  8. HAHAHA HOLY SHIT, there's a blast from the past! I remember making this, and I'm pretty sure it was in OmniGraffle, back when I used Macs at home. Which means my source for this is long, long gone. I'd have to dig deep into archives, probably long lost, to find the "when" tho. I'm pretty sure it was back on Shaggy. Hell, might've even been on Orangebloods. True story: The speech, these lines, were lifted nearly verbatim from a speech T. Boone Pickens gave to the Amarillo Rotary Club. My Dad was there, witnessed it, and then had the worst deja vu ever when the went to see this movie.
  9. I'm praying for a good showin'. And what do we do? We end up looking like a monkey fucking a football out there. Everybody out, please.
  10. best i can do is a one-time childhood vacation in Barbados
  11. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4853765/ just in case anyone needs this right now
  12. So, in my merry world of fake amps, my audio interface just added a free version of STL AmpHub, which includes two shitty guitar amp sims and one 5150 v3. It's very very good.
  13. Except she's a true believer. She would never do anything to consciously harm the Empire. As for it being a risk, remember my previous comment about competence? You have already put more thought into where she goes than the Empire did. As for the author, there's poetic symmetry.
  14. I would get drunker with my parents than I would on my own because (1) they were well off and could afford the good stuff and (2) they knew exactly which ones to get that were the best. Like not just this brand of zin, but this brand's particular years and vineyard because that was the one the mom owned rather than the sons, shit like that. I liked even modest zins, but those were *amazing*. In their later years, Dad stopped drinking and Mom started insisting on the cheap stuff because she was falling into alcoholism. That... was less fun. Now I can't hardly drink at all; I love the taste, but even one beer, and I basically feel sick the whole next day, like a clockwork orange witnessing a fight.
  15. And how is that information going to be (1) believed and (2) escape, when for almost everyone on Narkina it's a death sentence? She is too busy building pieces of the Death Star (the second one by that point) to discuss things. She's as good as dead from the Empire's POV, and her health and obedience are being put to good service. (And likely, given her personality, WHY would she snitch? In her mind, she is wronged for letting information get out; in her own mind, telling people things NOW would no longer make her imprisonment unjust? Granted, that's not the Empire's concern, it's hers.)
