  1. Well, my baby, she don't want me around. She said she's tired of watchin' me fall down. She wants the good life, only the best. But I like that bottle better than the rest. Might not even be the best opening lines on that album, or from that lyricist, but I've always loved em.
  2. Yeah, people up there DO actually care about football. 49ers, Raiders, The Game, etc. It's not like Texas at all (who is?), but not near the levels of apathy down south here.
  3. Also, almost nobody in SoCal cares about football. You'll find plenty of baseball and basketball fans, but football, pro and college, is a big fat "meh." It's even worse in the high school ranks, schools are having problems even fielding a team. My son's former school, 2000 students strong, has entire years where literally zero players come in from middle school. Other high schools just plain shut down their teams, which is how his school was still able to field one -- through transfers.
  4. that's just a sample it doesn't count 😉
  5. Some of those who work forces Are the same who burn crosses
  6. Update. Son is now 6'5". So any reduction in growth was welcome. DAUGHTER has been using meds a few years, and there's a VERY clear change in growth after she started using it. We are a bit concerned.
  7. prescient
  8. "I have a small business too, but one thing I try to do is not have my jingles suck butt."
  9. Yeah, but not "We've run out of timeline so let's send them off to the distant past/future so we can keep the franchise going" levels. like Discovery. Yeah, that was me. I think the shut-ins on Reddit did not get the joke. Star Wars remains Serious Business.
  10. "It happened to me, therefore it happens everywhere." "I never see that happen, therefore it doesn't happen." You can claim one thing and someone else can claim another. But the market don't lie.
  11. Yeah, but they probably won't go away completely. Just... mostly.
  12. Why is that unfortunate? If they're not serving a purpose, why is it bad that they're going?
  13. 10 Ways that Disney could Ruin Andor for Everyone Introduce a new kid-friendly character who only says "Coogoo Gaga!" in every episode. Have no overarching plan for multi-episode storylines Episode that undermines everything the Rebellion stands for to deconstruct standard tropes Reel back from 2a by going too far, nothing but fan-service Replace standard bad Star Wars writing with Even Worse Star Wars writing; no character behavior makes sense other than "because the plot requires them to do this now" Try to work Harrison Ford in as Solo somehow, even though he's 50 years too old for the role Try to work Solo in with some actor who isn't Harrison Ford CGI Young Harrison Ford Expand the series by using time travel (The "Star Trek Discovery" approach) The Empire Really Isn't So Bad Now! What's wrong with these Rebellion punks? Special Musical Episode And Now A Very Special Episode where Captain Antilles' best friend's son turns out to be addicted to Pog Collecting. Challenging and educational for the whole family! Have Dave Filoni do that thing where the first several episodes are world building before things get good, but stop before he gets to the "things get good" part Yuuzhan Vong Cameo
  14. It's the exception that proves the rule, and my in-theater experience didn't have that atmosphere; I'm just acknowledging that others did, without having experienced it myself. Now that people don't HAVE to go to theaters for a high quality experience, it turns out most of them don't WANT to go to theaters, or don't want to nearly so often.
  15. We can just replace Zach with @ztejas in those above. We won't even have to change the first letter, just the next four. More great and relevant lines from this classic: Zach: I figured it out, Barney. You can't cure a problem until you know what's causing the problem. But before you can see what's causing the problem, you first have to remove the problem. Barney: You've gotta give up the vices to get to the virtues. I could've told you that. Zach: Yeah? Why didn't you? Barney: You want it to take, you got to figure it out for yourself. Zach: Okay, wise guy, what's my problem? Barney: You're scared like the rest of us. You drink too much, you chase girls much too much, and you don't use your God-given talent anymore. Zach: You've known that all along? Barney: I'm a good bartender.
  16. Zach: I've never felt this way before. I'm seriously unhappy. This is just not the bush-league blues. We're talking major-league depression here. I can't sleep. I take pills. But they only last a couple of hours and then I'm up at 4:00 in the morning pacing the fucking house or walking on the cold fucking beach. I'm so miserable, I wanna fucking shoot myself. But, I can't because I'm afraid to die. How's that for fucked-up? [Zach hits the wall and starts sobbing] Zach: So what's the answer? Oh, I forgot. You don't have answers. You're not the burning bush. You just give suggestions. Well, I need help. I'm in the fucking dumper. Give me a suggestion because I know you've got one. I can see it in those beady little Freudian eyes. Dr. Westford: If an alcoholic wants me to cure him, you know what I say? [sighs] Zach: That's a question. That's not a suggestion. [sighs again] Zach: Okay. What do you say? Dr. Westford: First, stop drinking. Zach: I don't get it. Dr. Westford: Go home and think about it. That's my suggestion
  17. I mean I can see value in the ESPN+ bundle but why do I have to get Hulu too?
