  1. No. It's not. This... is a novel take. And also wrong.
  2. For the love of God, Superman had fuckin Marlon Brando in it. And Gene Hackman. 1978 is when the comic book movie proved to be real, and everything afterwards owes their success to it.
  3. Some people make bad parents. Derrick Henry has entered the chat
  4. you misspelled "best part"
  5. My man. I'm also in on the "never bothered learning many cover songs" train. On the bass, rather, since my guitar playing just started. Learned a few with a friend later in life, but before that... only wanted to do my own thing. And I'm still there on the guitar; don't want to learn others' songs so much. That said, I like how the main riff of "Crazy Train" gives you every major chord inversion on the D, G, B string, so it's a fun way to practice those.
  6. What made Die Hard distinct was that Willis' character wasn't a superhero. He wasn't a ninja, not special forces, not some guy with secret training or special abilities. He was a cop, alone, shoeless and hurt, and somehow survived and kept his wits about him. THAT'S the formula Die Hard started. Yep. The first GOOD superhero movie. Mary Poppins beat it by a quarter century. that too, but we don't talk about that film any more How about Clerks? Basically launched the 90s indie film craze.
  7. an interesting thing happened when I took time off last week I ate more, drank more, exercised almost none at all, and lost three pounds. Nothing was surgically removed or fell off. Can you guess why?
  8. There's a lady who has taught band and orchestra music for decades here, nigh legendary, who tells her students: "Practice doesn't make perfect; practice makes permanent." If you practice shitty habits, you'll make those shitty habits permanent. Practice good habits, and you'll make them permanent.
  9. It's not in the first two games of the season. Which goes along with your point about all the other powers struggling with weak programs last weekend. I'm not saying we won't contend; I am saying that folks should've expected the first few games to look pretty rough. And most of our fans clearly don't watch any games other than ours. But now everyone's decided that Arch sucks balls, has a shoulder injury, and we should just start putting in that guy from Troy because there's no hope. 😉
  10. I'm not gonna kink shame him
  11. 1. Why would you want that? 2. It's real, and it's spectacular.
  12. you know it (call me)
  13. it's social media manufactured bullshit, like so much of the nonsense everyone believes nowadays that has taken what used to be a modern society and dragged us back into Stone Age level myths
  14. the predictable slice backhand
  15. Speak for yourself. As soon as I started hearing everyone saying "Best team ever?" comments, when we're replacing nearly our entire offense, my bullshit detector went off. The question y'all need to be asking yourselves is: Why didn't YOURS go off, too? Name a time when a title contender had to replace most of one side of the ball, and immediately got better.
  16. in our defense, she's lost a lot of weight since she passed on
  17. Oh, God, yes. We should have an OL coach who actually puts guys into the NFL! ...wait, that's completely wrong, lemme try again... A brand new OL hasn't completely gelled by the second game? Concerning! ...wait, no, that's also stupid... Flood is recruiting and developing OL at as good of a pace as any OL coach we've had, ever, in our history! Clearly we should... ...fire him? Good God, y'all. What has gotten into you? Who hurt you? Point on the doll where Flood touched you...
  18. UTEP is pretty handy, I'll give you that. But I don't think even with that, they'll get a happy ending. They'll need some serious manual stimulation to have a chance.
  19. I'd put Arch more in the early Colt McCoy stage right now. A guy from a smaller school who is learning while he goes. Colt didn't have the pedigree but you saw flashes. Arch has these high expectations because of his name which gave him the high star rating. Maybe he's just average. Average could be enough. Like I said, the stats between VY's game against UNT in '04 and Arch's last weekend have some eerie similarities. The teams do, too. 1. Both QBs averaged around a 2/3ds completion rate. (14/21 vs 19/30) 2. Both QBs averaged about 6 ypc (49 yds 8 att, 23 yds 6 att) 3. Both teams are breaking in brand new WR cores. (04 just lost the Big 3 of Roy, Sloan and BJ) 4. Both teams have talented but rough OLs 5. Both teams have dominant defenses. (04 was the year of Robinson/Tomey, and DJ's senior year) The biggest differences? 1. A senior Cedric Benson in 04 2. VY only had 1 TD to his credit and no turnovers; Arch had 5, but one int. Those are just the superficial numbers, though. The real similarities come in how idiot fans are responding to it; then, they wanted to move VY to receiver. Now? They've all decided that Arch sucks and cashed in on his name. Equally stupid ideas; the right reaction is: These are extremely talented redshirt sophomores, early into their first years as full-time starters, who need to grow into the role. And honestly, Arch is going to have an easier time of it than VY did. Unlike Vince, who needed the offense changed to suit his strengths, Arch already knows the playbook, and just needs reps for the game to slow down enough to apply it right.
  20. As I pointed out on the Arch thread... Compare VY as a redshirt sophomore in his second start, and Arch as a Rs SO in his second start. Arch did better, but the stats have some eerie similarities.
  21. I like winning by double digits
  22. aw fuckin hell michigan
