    Whatcha reading?

    Same. Agreed. Cat.
  2. Wanted to see him stay his senior year, and do a bit better in the NFL than he did.
  3. Even those who are upset, they aren't upset With Him. Like the North Koreans who blame the damn Americans every time there's a food shortage or power outage, rather than the numbskulls who are actually running the country into the ground, they are forever on his team.
  4. I'm hearing a handful of anecdotes, that hopeful folks are sharing ad nauseam, about how people are regretting their votes for Trump. But this is the reality. The majority is happy with this. We're so fucked.
  5. It does. But I kinda get bored after that. 😞
  6. Lacuna Coil's latest album has some good stuff. "Scarecrow" has Scabbia doing some great high notes, and I like the last track on the album. They're still slamming the limiter with the mixes like it was 20 years ago still, though, so it's tiring and dull to hear after a while. And the band outside of Scabbia is pretty mid, though I like their harmonies. You know, that's why she's so short; from carrying that whole band for all these years... They got an appearance from Randy Blythe on a track. I know this because I read the liner notes, not because I can tell one guy's death growl from another. On that note, Lamb of God is exactly the kind of band I'd love if I'd been paying any kind of attention to anything outside of career and family between 2000-2010. I need to do a deep dive into their catalog.
  7. eh, brickhorn beat me to the joke
  8. Yeah, having a driver isn't something I'm doing until I'm infirm.
  9. It's pretty close to a direct quote from Verhoeven himself. And while I've not read that particular novel, I've read more Heinlein than I ever care to. He's the sort of author that guys who drive Camaros around the nearby high school trying to pick up freshmen think is a deep intellectual. He was a pulp author cursed to have to justify the sex and violence; a victim of the golden age, whose transparent fallacies are obvious to everyone else but him. Well, him, and the pseudo-intellectuals who feel they've found the rationalizations to justify their own base feelings. The only reason I don't have a lower opinion of Heinlein than Hubbard or Ayn Rand is, unlike those two, he never created a dangerous cult.
  10. I mean, if I had the money, my instinct would be to buy more cars for myself to drive, not to hire a driver.
  11. You DO see to whom you were replying, right? Is it wrong to think that anytime I see Oregon vs Texas, that it's mostly about the money?
  12. Despite my infamous post-2009 love letter to Squints (cringe), that's one guy whose high school tape I saw and thought, "Well, I guess those brilliant recruiting guys are seeing something I'm not." Turns out my initial reaction was the right one. How about everyone's favorite "whatever happened to that guy" stud Butch Hadnot, who vanished after his amazing freshman year. I'd like to add Ramonce Taylor and Lovell Pinkney as runners up, but they were at least contributors in college for more than one season.
  13. Neither did Verhoeven - at least, not all the way through - and that's what makes the movie so great. He got partway through, realized it was garbage promoting a garbage fascist worldview, and wrote the movie to make fun of it. It's the one instance I know of where a movie adaptation of a novel succeeds because it's satirizing the novel.

  15. seriously, I find massages more stressful than relaxing, because I'm naked, lying there, while a woman's hands are all over me... and I'm trying NOT to be like Mr Tucker here. yeah, doesn't matter if there's tons of pressure being applied, that's just how my brain is
  16. Because alcoholism is a disease that doesn't care how much you make. Money does NOT, in fact, change who you are. It just eliminates financial restrictions that might have kept you in check.
  17. you do realize that there were eagles fans at this game right ☝️ As soon as I heard the boos... yeah, Philly fans
  18. Oh no, that still resolves the hypothetical in her favor. Unless you're into fucking dessicated corpses, in which case... you do you.
  19. Also, I find the whole "only girls do..." logic nonsense when I grew up with heterosexual male heroes who dressed like this: So like. Whatevs. You're just jealous that I look better than you do in purple lipstick. and tbh that's one of the least feminine photos of Nick Rhodes from that era
  20. What did you fucking expect, you brainless shitnugget? She's over 90 years old! When 90 years old YOU reach, look as good you will not...hmmmmmmm?
  21. must be popular for some reason for decades I've used a Wenger laptop backpack for travel that had these little side pockets that were, shall we say, completely TSA-proof; you could fit a family sized toothpaste tube in there, and never you mind. Been a while since I've been on a plane and I'm taking the most recent incarnation of that bag with me and... toothpaste spotted. No luck. 😭😭😭 NO MORE TOILETRIES SMUGGLING
  22. That thought WAS actually worth a thread:
  23. to be fair, reading comprehension is a problem Bobby mentions that there's literally no Texas coach in discussions for the Saints job, and the next fucking post is "the coach considering it better not be PK"
