  1. how about that drive? meep meep up by 2 td again
  2. Well. Yeah. Didn't they stop making cars while they retooled all their plants to make the new electrics?
  3. ... or put the wrong toy in the box based on the label
  4. Right? Exactly. It's weird and it's stupid and... it has done something that hasn't happened in decades: Get people talking about the brand.
  5. When in doubt, play the melody as your solo. Then you can start adding in color here and there. Sometimes the wrong note, now and then, is the right one.
  6. I'm the opposite, man. Can finger all day; lost with a pick. So I practice with a 2mm Dunlop. Big. Ass. Pick. Because the extra weight makes all the others feel easier by comparison, and I don't have to worry about it chipping or breaking. Plus, very metal. 🤘😁🤘
  7. I'm new to both the guitar and this thread, so I may be responding to really old things like the above as I dig through ... Yeah. The thing that surprised me the most about guitar was how easy it was. Now I'm my case I'm a classically trained cellist/pianist who also played electric bass... so I've got the theory already down, and... Well, to put it bluntly, being classically trained warps your perspective vs the guitar. I expected to take a lot longer to be able to do what I can now do. Hell, the guitar itself - Yamaha Pacifica - with everything costs as much new as a set of cello strings alone costs. So yeah, it's easy, all the more so if you've got some music knowledge. But I've still got a ways to go, you know? Hardest thing for me is still picking, using a pick. And ever since I learned barre chords I lost interest in learning any others, lol
  8. Hahaha yeah i figured. But see that's "you're fucked if you make one of several specific wrong turns" because you MIGHT end up in a bad neighborhood. In Pittsburgh, it's "you're fucked if you make ANY wrong turns" because Pittsburgh is a Civil Engineer's worst nightmare. (Or his "most reliable paycheck." It really comes down to attitude.)
  9. Oh no. No no no. See, all of those other cities you mention have this concept called "two way streets." You know, a street with at least two lanes, at least one going the opposite direction of the other one? Pittsburgh hasn't yet adopted this novel concept. And in any other city, if you happen to make a wrong turn... well, you just make a few right turns again and you're back where you started, no big deal, right? No no no, not in Pittsburgh. See this road here goes all the way around the mountain or through the valley. You're going the LONG way around, now, buddy. You may even have to leave the city before you can turn around and get back to where you were supposed to be. In short, you are doomed. You aren't going to make that appointment; better reschedule. Maybe if you're lucky, another errand you needed to run (where you missed the turn last week), you can make it there from this road, now! Unlikely tho
  10. Never even heard of it. I've been in a car on Pittsburgh roads, though.
  11. From the home office in San Diego, where I'm trying to clean up some of the... HOLY SHIT IS THAT THE ULTIMA COLLECTION? SWEEET FIGHT!
  12. It's a fine city until you take just one wrong turn.
  13. Did you miss the part when I said she was also crazier? I mean, there are rules, but rule #1 is "I want to live."
  14. He's the one in the middle, you drunken sot. This is my kind of football weather.
  15. You should ALWAYS rinse your rice. Not just because it's sticky, but because it's DIRTY, and has arsenic on it. Also, stickiness is more a function of the kind of rice it is. Also also, sticky is not a bad trait in rice. Also also also, I don't agree with those who are saying a rice cooker is a must. It's great if you eat rice daily like we do. But it's really no big deal to cook it stovetop.
  16. ... there's no meat in rice porridge...
  17. Then I wouldn't bother. We actually have two pans for ours to make it easier to use twice in a day without having to clean up. Which happens often enough to justify it.
  18. It's not, but if you're eating rice daily, a good rice cooker is fantastic. Plus it has settings for steaming (eg 小笼包) and porridge/粥 and other things. Ours gets as much use as the microwave and never leaves the countertop.
  19. I take it back. My wife tops her. On both axes.
  20. You have to remember how old that movie is. All the servers and data that had the evidence were likely in a small, badly-ventilated closet in that very building. Backups were probably in a drawer in a filling cabinet. Having things on servers in data centers someone else ran wasn't very common for businesses of that size back then.
