  1. He obviously doesn’t ROYGBIV, bro
  2. Weird. First thing the cop said was for the dude to “come back here with me for a second.” Odd request for somebody that doesn’t have a warrant. But also, what a complete lack of awareness. No way you catch the guy after that kind of head start. But good thing dude didn’t have a gun or the cop would’ve been doneski.
  3. It would seem to me that the CEO of one of the largest arms manufacturers in the world would probably have a security detail comparable to the secret service. If they didn’t have one before, I’d imagine they all do now.
  4. FYI - that's only 10% off. Not complaining, just pointing it out for anybody else
  5. Is there a 2FA option that doesn't require us to open the app on our phone then type in a code? Other accounts I have with 2FA will let me approve from the app itself, rather than entering a code. Even better ones will have a popup notification on my phone immediately after I attempt to login and I just have to swipe approval, and the best ones have trusted locations (like, if I'm sitting at my desk at home, it usually automatically approves my login (if it doesn't detect my location, I just have to swipe), but if I'm in another part of the house it doesn't...so they've got the location thing narrowed down pretty damn tight).
  6. @MrRogue Need to place an order. Is there any current discount codes since freedom apparently expired?
  7. Gotdamnit. I’ve failed wordle 12 out of 611 times. Three of those have come in the last week. Wordle 1,117 X/6* ⬜🟨🟨⬜⬜ 🟨⬜⬜🟨🟩 🟨🟨⬜🟨🟩 ⬜🟩🟩🟩🟩 ⬜🟩🟩🟩🟩 ⬜🟩🟩🟩🟩
  8. An advertising ban on 4 outlets?!? Woah, that'll teach em! Russia will surely stop now before they impose a ban on the major media outlets.
  9. How quickly do those panels recharge? Can you maintain power indefinitely (assuming it stays sunny and you limit your use to the essentials)? I'm assuming that's what the impact/self-powered stat is in reference to, but I figured you'd have a higher charge by now, although I guess I don't know how much sun you had after the storm passed yesterday.
  10. Based on past events around the state, I'm assuming very little incentive. Sure, they'll have to eventually get everything up and running again so they can start charging for power use, but they'll just increase the rates to make up for the repairs and all lost profits for when nobody was using electricity. And that's assuming they don't also have the ability to get repaid directly from the city for those repairs (which is still coming from tax payers)...so, lose-lose for the people. Win-win for the corporation. Hooray!
  11. Yeah, that's basically always been my fear. I know I'm way more likely to be swimming next to a potentially dangerous shark at the beach than in open water, but if there happens to be one near me out there, I think it's far more likely to see what I taste like.
  12. I’ve never really been afraid of sharks. Almost all of the bites I’ve seen on adults may leave some gnarly scars, but rarely do they look like they significantly alter the victims quality of life. But having your entire calf muscle removed? That’s some nasty shit, and has me rethinking everything I’ve ever felt about them. ETA: I should say I've never really been afraid of sharks near the beach. I'm terrified of getting out of the boat when I'm deep sea.
  13. Fair enough. Hadn’t considered that point. My apologies. Lots of family and friends in Houston that I’m worried about, you being one of them. Hope y’all get through with minimal damage and not without power for too long. Holla if you need anything. Supposed to be in court in Galveston on Thursday if anybody needs supplies and whatnot that can’t be found locally.
  14. Probably to wake you up if power goes out in the night so you can make sure you’re topped off with gas, cut any non-essential power use, etc.
  15. You know the two sentiments aren’t mutually exclusive, right? Us bitching about getting nothing also means we’re upset y’all are having to go through this. It would’ve been better for the state as a whole if it made landfall almost anywhere else on the coast between Houston and Brownsville. Don’t take our complaints as diminishing the shit y’all are yet again dealing with.
  16. I don’t think anyone is expecting widespread property damage, are they? Really just an expectation that a shit ton of people are going to lose power for days, if not weeks. And then it’s going to be back to 100+ degrees shortly after the storm passes.
  17. Sucks for those outlying communities to lose all their sons and husbands, but at least they’ll get to live in a democratic Ukraine when all this is said and done since there won’t be anybody left to defend those territories.
  18. If Beryl turns a bit west, this rain could turn out to be why the lakes fill up. Almost at an inch in west lake so far. Fingers crossed!
  19. It’s been a good 50 years since anybody came from Beryl
  20. Bruh. There’s a hurricane coming that’ll help you over there. Let us have this!
  21. You get your hose water from a different source than your house?
  22. Agreed. The type of gun makes all the difference. If he’s got a muzzle loader or a very limited amount of ammo, that changes the calculation. An assault rifle with a couple hundred rounds makes it pretty obvious. If the hawks attack you, then you direct the rats to cover you like a suit of armor. You’ll get some nasty claw marks, but the hawks couldn’t easily penetrate their meat shield. Also, if/when the hunter dies or runs out of ammo, the gun would still serve as an effective weapon to whack hawks coming at you. Dead rats could be swung by their tails to knock down hawks as well.
  23. The Hunter is the tricky addition. I think I go with him and 10,000 rats because those are the two that would kill/overwhelm you almost immediately. Assuming each group starts at the edge of the arena, the hunter could drop most, if not all, of the large game before they got close enough to you. The rats could divide and conquer. Gators prob need the hunters attention bc I don’t know how easily rats could tear into them, but they should be able to easily handle all of the mammals. Hawks would slowly whittle down the rats, but there’s not enough of them to do it quickly. Plus, since this thought experiment supposes your choices know they are to defend you, they would team up to pounce at the hawks when they attack. Bet it comes down to rats v hawks at the end, and the number advantage wins.
  24. Not always the size of the animal but the point of impact. I’ve hit a deer going about 45 in a Silverado and it went straight over the roof, nothing more than a small dent. Armadillo's have caused more damage than that on a few occasions. Bird chipped my windshield once. Never hit anything that required any extensive repairs though.
  25. Thought that was the projection all along? Then maybe builds back up to Cat 1 in the gulf. Or was it still supposed to be hurricane strength when it hit the Yucatán?
