  1. https://twitter.com/Caley_graphics/status/1047597219828961280 too dumb to get it embed, but final xG was 1.4 to 0.1.
  2. i just don't buy the "not up to speed" talking point anymore, tbh. I know Klopp loves to use it as an excuse to not play Fabinho and Shaqiri, but Milner/Henderson/Gini is completely redundant and haven't offered anything in weeks offensively. Even with Shaqiri's whiff on goal last week, he still showed me a lot more than any of those 3 have recently in putting himself in favorable spaces and actually making runs forward to pull the defense out of position.
  3. we spent how much this summer and didn't even manage a shot on target? the final scoreline is what it is, but it's about the process that earned the scoreline. we played like we were Burnley against Man City today. We have the talent to take it to anyone, and we made no effort to for 90+ minutes.
  4. the players were never in any positions that led me to believe Klopp wanted to win this match. he left the forward line isolated the entire match. we were outnumbered in every important part of the pitch at every moment's turn and that's a tactical failure. he also had exactly one player on the bench that fit the profile of someone who might be able to connect the dots between midfield and attack and he chose not to sub him. he made a defensive sub in Fabinho and then subbed on Sturridge when it was too late to matter.
  5. well deserved goal. That's what you get for playing like a sackless bunch for the entire game and it's 110% on Klopp. the xG difference in this game is going to be far worse than a 1-0 score.
  6. how have we not brought on shaqiri yet? we need any semblance of life that can connect the lifeless midfield with our forwards.
  7. we look like a Mourinho team today, which is the biggest insult I can offer.
  8. this is terrible. I don't know what the strategy was going into the game, but if this is it...yeesh. Napoli playing like they want a goal and we're playing like we're happy just to be there. how many more games do we have to watch Milner/Henderson/Gini do absolutely nothing before we start throwing Shaqiri into the midfield?
  9. just seems like there's an incomprehensible amount of grass between our forwards and the rest of our team. there is no support and we are outnumbered 8 to 4 in the center of the field at any given moment when trying to attack.
  10. man, we have done a whole lot of nothing today. not even close to sniffing a real chance.
  11. We need to get Shaw some ABs today. Nobody except Yelich is looking to do a damn thing.
  12. Christian Yelich is a witch.
  13. No one said he wasn’t going to be fine, but has Sturridge not been more productive in less playing time this year to deserve some more minutes? Would like to see some more midfield rotation, but with Napoli and MC coming up, I think we’re likely to see Hendo/Milner/Gini again until Huddersfield.
  14. Incredible to salvage a point there but we’ve got to figure out a way to score goals from open play. We just haven’t seen the same rate of opportunities going forward and we’ve lucked out a few times this year off set pieces or goals deriving from set pieces. Salah needs to see the bench and get his head together and Sturridge has earned more minutes. Alisson and VvD were great.
  15. The fact that Chelsea is making a sub before us is mind boggling. We’ve had no clear cut chances with this lineup this half outside of the Mané wonder goal attempt. Why is he so stubborn to make a freakin’ change? and we’re taking off Salah rather than a midfielder for Shaqiri. Insane.
  16. We need Keita or Shaqiri on. This midfield is absolutely toothless against Chelsea.
  17. Salah simply is not the same this year. He has been so hesitant near the penalty area to pull the fucking trigger and it’s cost him goals that he would have bagged last year.
  18. Pros: I thought Fabinho looked good. He's still adjusting to the speed of the EPL on defense and had a couple of bad tackles in the process, but I thought his passing and spacing in possession were brilliant. I'd really like to see him get some good minutes going forward. Cons: Eek. I really hope our primary 4 backline can stay healthy going forward, because our second tier defenders were exposed on a few different occasions that gave Chelsea opportunities that we wouldn't normally see. Come back soon, VVD.
  19. really looking back on that sturridge miss now...
