  1. that's nothing when ole Daddy Warbucks is funding you
  2. probs not Russia (anymore). my guess is China and NK. maybe they make their own? which is why they're so easy to shoot down?
  3. exactly. preseason hockey is on and I'm scouting future waiver picks 🤣
  4. I'm expecting Vance to lie a lot and for Walz to try to navigate that reality, but I don't think there will be any real surprises tonight.
  5. first step on their way to being a billionaire and Kamala is standing in their way!
  6. shit, I guess I never looked it up before. Carter for me too. Here's what he did on the day of my birth: November 27 – President Carter attends the National League of Cities' 1978 Congress of Cities in Monsanto Hall at the Cervantes Convention Center during the morning.[276] November 27 – President Carter attends a briefing on the budget for the board of directors of the National League of Cities in Room 122 at the Cervantes Convention Center in St. Louis, Missouri, delivering remarks on the evolution of the relationship between the administration and members of the board and answering questions from those in attendance.[277] November 27 – President Carter receives the Family Unity Award at the Mormon Tabernacle in Salt Lake City, Utah and delivers remarks.[278] November 27 – President Carter issues a statement on the assassinations of San Francisco Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk.[279] November 27 – In a statement, President Carter says he has been asked by Governor of Utah Scott M. Matheson "to review the findings of earlier Federal studies in Utah on the effects of exposure to radioactive particles on health and to determine whether or not a more comprehensive study is indicated."[280] November 27 – President Carter announces the appointment of nine individuals for membership on the American Battle Monuments Commission.[281]
  7. that's what I don't get. people bitch about how things are in Texas, but the fucking GOP has been in control for 30+ years. they fucking made it this way. hammer them on it!
  8. they did walz dirty on making him look 30 years older than he is. otherwise solid concept
  9. that's where i'm at funny part is, if Texas were to get its shit together, they'd all happily come back.
  10. I haven't researched this much, but I read it's really one person holding up negotiations. Any idea if that's true? If so, one person cannot yield this much power over the economy. Even the president doesn't wield such power. Make it happen. D's cannot afford a loss of this magnitude right now.
  11. I just recently figured out a avenue for someone to get removed from the voter rolls: we were sent multiple voter registration applications to our address - basically one for each variation of my fiancé's last name (she was a hyphen last name kid and has been married/divorced so there are a bunch of variations). Anyway, she is registered under a single last name (her father's) now and it's the same on all of her official documents. She presented me the multiple applications and asked if she needed to fill any of them out - we immediately checked her info online and she was registered with her current name. All of the applications were for "other people" - in other words, if she had ever registered under that name it is still on the rolls. Since this is coming from Travis County I don't think it's purposely nefarious (they can't assume people with similar names are the same people). But I could easily see this being a way someone gets flagged as double registered. Double and triple check your info, folks.

  13. Assuming the republic survives, future generations are going to study this period in-depth, much like we have the rise and fall of the 3rd Reich. We either barely make it and become a model for defeating fascism, or it overtakes us like it has everyone else and we'll be the model for what not to do going forward. Interesting times indeed!
  14. yeah, because for a big portion of them the sex they want isn't legal. it's the party of incels and sexual predators alike... and the KKK, and neo-Nazis, and white nationalists, and christian nationalists, and oligarchs.... the list goes on
  15. also this looks like pure repudiation to me!
  16. so why are you here?
  17. pretty wild that the same folks that realize they cannot win on merit so they have to change the rules in their favor are the same folks who decry participation trophies and any semblance of an attempt at equity. I hate the whole lot of them
  18. also, according to this, it really doesn't make a shit bc only 51% of us were born here.
  19. that's pretty selective memory. this shit goes back to Ann Richards and even before that. it was certainly native texans that started us on this course
