  1. any predictions for the season? Vegas looks stacked, again. I have the Isles swapping with the Devils for the last eastern playoffs spot, otherwise my prelim predictions show the rest of the field will be the same as last season. similarly with the west, I look to minnesota to miss this year and the ducks, of all teams, to squeak in the last western spot. I think WSH, LA, STL are going to be better than most are predicting. I expect the Blackhawks and Sharks to fight it out for worst record. sadly the preds might be in that mix too. thoughts?

  4. welp, preseason is over, Stars went 5-1, and are generally starting the season healthy (minus the Captain, but he should be back within a few weeks).
  5. I'm betting this thread reaches page 2 before the end of the month.
  6. yeah, I keep thinking about this. people bitch and moan about the D party and its people and policies, but in my estimation a large majority of those are refugees from the R party. it seems to me those borrowed voters are trying to shape the party into what they want it to be since their party abandoned them. I think this somewhat touches on the overall ineptitude of the D party right now because they are trying to cater to too wide an audience which has lead to no cohesive platform. I think the D's need to get back to their core tenets, firmly establish their stance on the real issues of today, and ignore the chatter of the extremes. in this instance that would be both the far left crazies as well as those transplants trying to rub a little conservatism on the party newsprint. if that turns off some voters, fine, they can form their own party or go take their old one back over from their nutters. unfortunately this is a both sides issue and both parties need to bleed out the fringe and focus on the massive middle. this likely means alienating new allies, but I think that is necessary in the long run
