  1. If conferences reach 20 teams then what does it even mean to be a “member” of that conference? You play 5-6 opponents yearly, and then rotate 3 opponents? So you end up playing your “conference mates” every 4-5 years? Kinda sounds like the out of conference scheduling agreements we have now. I get that it’s ultimately about TV contracts and money but the whole thing seems dumb.
  2. Even though I don’t speak Russian, I can sense the desperation in their voices. They’re now saying things like “we can rebuild our economy” instead of “the sanctions didn’t work, we’re stronger than ever”. Sorry guys. You fucked around and now you’re going to find out.
  3. The effect that < 10 HIMARS are already having on Russia’s ability to press forward really underscores how seriously a NATO force would obliterate them in a direct conflict.
  4. For the first time in a long time, it feels like we’re recruiting the type of players necessary to compete at the highest level.
  5. The top 25 guys get a tour card. You can get there by accumulating points year-round (like the FedEx Cup) or by winning / placing highly in a couple of key tournaments to end the year. Not sure how the math works out for Coody since he only started competing late in the season, but a win today certainly won’t hurt.
  6. It appears that HIMARS is going to make a big difference. I understand why it took time to get them going though. You can’t give someone an advanced rocket system without 100% of the proper training. I hope they have good missile and counter battery defense systems to protect them because they’re extremely valuable.
  7. If Finland and Sweden are prevented from joining NATO - by Turkey, Bulgaria, or someone else - we’ll form a “Baltic Security Organization” with them, Norway, Denmark, etc. The mutual security arrangement and the benefits that it provides will not be prevented. All of these assholes would do well to accept whatever “concessions” we’re offering or else they’re going to fuck around and end up with nothing.
  8. This may be the first time that Ukraine is primarily dictating the terms of the engagement. At least, it’s the first one I know of.
  9. Seems like the soldiers defending Sveredonetsk were given the tough task of holding out while the real action was set up down south.
  10. Maybe they could sign the peace agreement in…I don’t know…Minsk? Certainly Russia wouldn’t violate it, right?
  11. It seems to have dawned on the Russian command that Sveredonetsk holds little strategic value. They’ve had their thumbs up their asses for weeks while Ukraine started their move on Kherson. I imagine it’s not going to be easy to try to reposition all of those forces to mount an effective defense.
  12. You’re right. Macron has been desperately searching for a way to surrender since before the invasion began.
  13. I don’t think there’s going to be any appetite to reduce the sanctions. How would the West benefit from that besides a possible (slight) reduction in energy costs?
  14. It’s clear that this whole thing is about Putin still being butt hurt over the loss of the Cold War and his desire to restore the old USSR. Looks like the battle for Kherson is going to start soon and due to their myopic focus on Sveredonetsk, the Russians appear unprepared. Very nice.
  15. It was obvious that he didn’t have anything left last inning.
  16. I have a bad feeling about Hansen this inning.
  17. If there’s one thing you find in every great CWS team, it’s a TEAM ONLY meeting where one group berates another group for their poor performance. aggy is truly a bastion of great leadership.
  18. I’m sure Jay Monahan is absolutely loving watching Phil hack his way around the course.
  19. Four-putting from 20 feet isn’t a good look.
  20. True love of money.
  21. Back to this morning’s news, the loss of the third bridge to Sveredonetsk is clearly a bad thing. But the Ukrainian command has shown an excellent ability to plan their operations with a view on strategic (not tactical) victory so I’m hoping that the anticipated this outcome and planned accordingly. At the very least I hope that they stored enough food / water / ammunition / medicine inside the Azot chemical plan to withstand a months-long siege given the experience of Azovstal.
  22. Well at least we already have evidence that the Saudis are serious about changing their ways and being more tolerant.
  23. They will let them play due to past champion status. Assuming LIV is around for more than a few years though, this problem will take care of itself. LIV players won’t be winning any new majors and the current past champions will retire.
  24. I agree - I’m sure this is part of their plan. Give a few million in guaranteed money and they’ll get someone to bite. The issue is that the quality of play on the PGA Tour is based on everyone having to earn their card. Go check out the NCAA individual golf champions for the past 10 years. Sure, there are names like DeChambeau, Matt Wolff, and Max Homa. But alongside them are Braden Thornberry, Broc Everett, and Cameron Wilson. The “Invitational” aspect of LIV means that the quality of play is going to nosedive unless they do what they intended to do all along - poach established players from the existing tours.
  25. All the players going to LIV are losers, misfits, or past their prime. Everyone worth a shit sees the PGA and the opportunities it provides through sponsorships, the Champions Tour, and the pension as the better choice. Even if you didn’t have to ignore morality and become a stooge in a propaganda effort designed to improve the image of an evil dictator, the PGA makes more sense. If you’re worried about losing your tour card in a few months it probably makes sense to take the money and run. The team aspect of LIV is pure cringe. Oh wow, I can’t wait to see what the Niblicks do this week! The Hy Flyers and 4 Aces are really at each other’s throats after that 9th hole!! LIV was initially expecting to get a couple hundred million for broadcast rights. A few weeks ago, I read they were offering the rights for free to anyone who would take them. And yet here we are with their first event being broadcast on Facebook and YouTube. I don’t give two shits about who wins any LIV events and in a few weeks, once the novelty has worn off, neither will anyone else.
