  1. Running out the clock shouldn’t have been the goal. The goal should have been to get FIRST DOWNS. We weren’t going to end the game without giving the ball back to ISU without at least 2 first downs. With their timeouts, a three and out with 2 running plays is essentially the same thing as 3 straight incompletions. First down would have been a perfect time for play action but I guess our offensive braintrust felt differently.
  2. Agree 100%. I think he realizes that he can’t talk down to everyone after his 4th loss in year 3. Very uncomfortable position for him and it showed today.
  3. Suggests that maybe we should simplify the defense to let the player play without having to think so much. Narrator: no shit
  4. Credit to the press, they’re not tossing him softballs this week.
  5. Perfect encapsulation of our offense on Saturday. Throwing the ball behind the LOS on an absolute must-make 3rd down and 10. Three offensive linemen blocking nobody. QB under pressure during the throw. Even if Dev hadn’t “dropped the ball” (according to Herman) 34 and 35 would have combined for easy tackle after a 3 yard gain.
  6. “I don’t know, I’d have to go back and watch the film.” or ”I literally don’t know who we played last week. You guys think I’m joking but I’m not. I had to ask my assistant coaches who we played last week.”
  7. I think he has a more lucrative future set up by being a social justice martyr than he does by getting a chance to play again and being just another shitty NFL QB.
  8. When was the last time a Texas player declared early and it worked out in their favor?
  9. This is where these types of analysis break down in football in my opinion. Shifting the assumed win percentage in overtime can massively change the outcome of the analysis. Football is incredibly unpredictable (just ask anyone who sports bets) so using “average” outcomes to guide what you should do in this situation can backfire.
  10. What is the source for your odds of winning in OT being exactly 50/50?
  11. We were incredibly lucky that we lined up in an illegal formation, that it was called, and that KSU accepted the penalty. Any suggestion that scoring a TD and giving the ball back to KSU with the opportunity to tie / take the lead vs. kicking a 25 yard field goal as time expires for the win in pure stupidity. I can’t believe that anyone would even suggest that the TD was a good idea.
  12. Football coaches aren’t very creative. They generally learn one system as a GA and run that same system for the rest of their career. It’s no surprise that Orlando can’t / won’t do anything differently.
  13. I have a feeling Tom's assurances that the staff has really started to focus on simplifying things is gonna draw a lot of groans.
  14. When former players are calling out our DC on Twitter for terrible and predictable play calls, you know it’s time for a change. As shitty as things got during the Charlie Strong years I don’t remember players specifically criticizing the scheme.
  15. This is exactly correct. There seems to be a lack of basic football knowledge on our defensive coaching staff. I would wager than anyone who played football in high school and/or has been a casual fan for most of their life could call better plays on game day than Orlando.
  16. Anyone else notice Duggan clapping 4 or 5 times before the snap? Every single time our defense would jump and show where the blitz was coming from. I guess when you’re starting 20 yards from the ball you can’t afford to be late off the snap.
  17. It’s been repeated ad nauseum but Charlie was at least likable despite being a horrible head coach. Tom Herman is arrogant and condescending. He hired a known shitty OC (who he demoted within 18 months but won’t admit publicly) and said that he knows a lot more than “Joe Football Fan”. Well guess what asshole, the fans knew more than you in this case. We also know that you need to fire your DC. But due to having only 4 total defensive coaches on staff you may not be able to. Genius, this guy.

  19. On the first long throw to the non-Raegor WR (the one who caught the passes over Owens) we ran one of the most comically bad blitzes I’ve ever seen. I guess it goes without saying - it was 3rd and long so we were gonna blitz 100/100 times. We knew it, they knew it, the announcers knew it etc. This time in particular we decided to bring both inside LB (and most likely a safety, I couldn’t tell). I guess the LBs were supposed to twist but after Adeoye blitzed and ran into the left guard, Mitchell twisted around and ran straight into Adeoye. He actually got stunned and nearly fell down. We actually had one blitzer block the other. We do not have bad players. These guys are, on average, members of top 10 recruiting classes. We have TERRIBLE coaches and run possibly the worst defensive scheme I’ve ever seen.
  20. One of the most infuriating aspects of coaches is their insistence on winning using their “system”. Face it Tom - we don’t have an above average tight end on the roster. We don’t even have an average one. When you stubbornly use 11 personnel on every play, not only are you allowing the defense to effectively ignore one of your receivers and double someone else, you’re also sending a message to the players that getting the best players on the field isn’t the priority. Have we had two RB on the field at the same time for even a single play this year? I don’t think so and we might be one of the only teams to have done so. Break some fucking tendencies. Do something unexpected.
  21. Who could have guessed that we would all out blitz on 3rd and long??? Fuck this coaching staff Heads better roll
  22. Promote Fedora to OC with play calling authority Find a homeless person on Guadalupe and promote them to DC. Install whatever scheme they recommend.
  23. Playing 4-3-4 defense, never blitzing, man-to-man with a single high safety every play would be better than our defensive scheme
