  1. I’m gonna go with please no, God no, and Hell no. In any order.
  2. Not without some help from a campaign waged against her by AIPAC. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/07/us/politics/bush-bell-aipac-missouri-primary.html AIPAC Demonstrates Its Clout With Defeat of a Second ‘Squad’ Member The pro-Israel group put more than $8 million into a primary to help beat Representative Cori Bush of Missouri, the second Democrat it has successfully targeted for not supporting Israel in the war.
  3. Just talk about what’s in the bipartisan border bill that Trump killed.
  4. How often do Vice Presidents hold press conferences? Candidate Harris is campaigning. She’s got a pretty full plate right now. But if a lull happens to present itself then VP Harris should probably take the advantage of using some official press briefings as de facto campaign appearances. Get some fee exposure. Just do it on her terms and ignore the sniping coming from the Trump campaign.
  5. Traveling around with a bunch of reporters on her plane.
  6. But not at a press briefing. As White House press secretary she never held a single press briefing.
  7. Fuck no. You don’t pay Trump’s bills. If anything you go to the towns where he owes money and hold your own events. Then you pay your own obligations and say you did it to help the community out because Trump is a deadbeat. Let the “king of debt” stay in debt.
  8. A spontaneous, resounding chant of “Thank you, Joe!” from the crowd at the Harris/Walz rally in Wisconsin.
  9. I’m talking about his current policies. Policies he’s passed as Governor, his job right now. That’s who he is right now, not the guy who represented a conservative district in Congress pre-pandemic. I haven’t looked at that record. Right now he’s no moderate. And yeah, I figured I’d get that response about him being labeled a socialist. But in this case they’ve got a bit of a leg to stand on. Bernie Sanders is a self-avowed socialist. (I assume I don’t have to explain the difference between democratic socialism and Marxist socialism here.) When Donald Trump says that Walz is like Bernie Sanders only not as smart, I’m sure the “not as smart” part is his own invention. He likes to call anyone who opposes him dumb. But he doesn’t know the first thing about political ideology or the political spectrum and hasn’t personally researched the policies of literally anyone. I’m sure he got the comparison to Bernie Sanders from his political advisers and it’s a fair comparison when you look at Tim’s legislative achievements as Governor of Minnesota. He’s a progressive whose policies appeal to the more liberal wing of the Democratic Party.
  10. He’s not a moderate. Free college (and other expanded social services), legal pot, restricting gun access - those are progressive policies. He’s more closely aligned with Bernie Sanders ideologically than he is with Josh Shapiro who is more of a centrist. That’s why Shapiro was under attack by the left wing of the party. I support his policies but they’re going to call him a socialist.
  11. Here’s the full episode cued up to Walz’s interview. The whole thing is worth a listen. You can also listen to it here, it’s episode 905: https://crooked.com/podcast-series/pod-save-america/ The most recent episode is good too. It was recorded last night before they knew who the VP pick would be so they gave two reactions, one for if it was Shapiro and another for if it was Walz, each with the appropriate spin. (They also gave a third for if it was a surprise candidate but that was mostly just silliness.)
  12. I can see that. But they also had to give tribute to Josh Shapiro who couldn’t have been more gracious and supportive. He was 100% on board and if you missed his opening speech then you missed out. I’m okay with it because Biden is going to get his big moment at the convention. That’s going to be huge. And historic.
  13. And then, after the audience exploded with laughter, tossed in an aside: “Did ya see what I did there?”
  14. Or if you took his Social Studies class. Or were in that Gay-Straight Alliance.
  15. Did the signs say, “The highway formerly known as __________?”
  16. Maybe they should’ve gone with 5th grade. https://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/2022/07/01/ohio-girl-10-among-patients-going-indiana-abortion/7788415001/
  17. Right, because “ideologue” and “hate” are the words that spring to mind when I think of Joe Biden. Fuck your “both sides,” Mark. The Trump side is the one preaching division and hate. This isn’t a radical transformation on the left. It’s just new blood.
