  1. Have you heard her speak? She has no future in politics and thanks to the billions Jared was paid by the Saudis (for unspecified shady services rendered), she has no need.
  2. If Trump loses the election it will probably be the end of Vance’s political career. He had no experience and came out of nowhere to obtain a position solely by sucking up to Trump more than the competition. And it was stiff competition. He joined the senate race late when both of his competitors were already running ads claiming to be more Trumpy than the other.
  3. Hillary didn’t get hacked. John Podesta did (via his phone). Hillary’s private server was secure.
  4. It’s okay. I’m a Diet Coke guy but if I’m ordering a soda where they only serve Pepsi products then I’ll get a Diet Dew. It’s not good enough to make a habit out of it.
  5. Something tells me gas prices are going to be really low when we’re all driving EVs.
  6. Fucking moron, read what I said. No one should be able to own that weapon. It doesn’t matter that his dad bought the gun.
  7. You think Bill Clinton hasn’t had negative things to say about Trump? Think again. https://www.politico.com/news/2020/08/18/bill-clinton-2020-dnc-speech-398182 Both Clintons, Biden, Harris, Romney, and McCain have been outspoken in their criticism of Trump. Dubya hasn’t said anything. You can excuse it as “decorum.” One might call him a wuss. Dick Cheney has been outspoken; George should probably say something. But he’s kind of a dunce and really wasn’t qualified to be president himself so maybe saying anything would only invite criticism of his own legacy. Plus he’s probably a little bit grateful that Trump makes his disaster of a presidency look better by comparison.
  8. His dad was a klansman, though, so he’s got that going for him.
  9. Yeah, I’m trying to figure out how Jamaicans aren’t black.
  10. He shouldn’t have had the opportunity to own that weapon. No one should. Given Republican gun policy it would’ve served them right if the kid had a bump stock.
  11. Kamala should sell t-shirts with that check printed on them under the title, “Trump supports Harris!”
  12. Or Donald Trump sending his goons to the Capitol to kill them.
  13. Joe also convinced Obama to change his position and support the legalization of same sex marriage.
  14. Steve Richetti and Mike Donilon. I had heard earlier speculation that some of his top aides might have been shielding him from bad polling data. I don’t know if that was true. I heard it reported that when Nancy Pelosi talked to Biden, he told her that there was polling that showed he could win. Nancy told him to get Donilon on the phone, show her the polls. On Morning Joe today they said the polling that Richetti and Donilon brought to Joe over the weekend showed him not only losing in battleground states but also losing ground in safe blue states like Virginia, New Mexico, and Nevada. And also donations were drying up. (We’d already heard that big money donors were halting their donations to try to force a change.) All of that together factored into the final decision and I’m sure being laid up with Covid at his age didn’t help.
  15. You fell for that narrative?
  16. A lot of people were staying in the hotel that night including the members of the band Phish. My connection may only have been coincidental. Or maybe the town had something to do with it. Or maybe it was a confluence of several factors. This happened in early ‘03. Nine years earlier I attended a Phish show at the Cincinnati Music Hall and the building had to be evacuated after the fire alarm went off. There was no fire, just a lot of smoke coming from the audience. (See my story about it in the Phish thread.) Who knows?
  17. Oh, totally. I fully expect that pardon to come not long after the election.
  18. Apparently he announced on CBS that he wasn’t running. That was after appearing on CNN and saying he might. https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2024/07/22/kamala-harris-campaign-biden-drop-out/joe-manchin-run-for-president-00170269 Manchin ends his brief flirtation with presidential bid Well, that was fast. Sen. Joe Manchin’s (I-W.Va.) brief flirtation with a bid for the Democratic nomination for president ended between two cable news interviews Monday morning. “I am not running for office,” Manchin told “CBS Mornings” Gayle King. About an hour earlier on CNN “This Morning,” he told host Kasie Hunt “people are pushing in that direction” when asked if he was seeking the nomination.
  19. Saw a Chyron on Scripps that said Joe Manchin isn’t running for office. I also saw that he was a guest on CBS Mornings earlier. The sound was down but he looked positively giddy. He’s coming up as a guest on MSNBC. I probably won’t see that, but a little bit earlier they were talking about him and Claire McCaskill said something about his effort to remain relevant. She also threw in a patronizing “Bless his heart” and a “God bless him.” He sure does seem to be exploiting the transition for as much attention as he can get.
  20. I agree. I really like her. I can’t believe she lost to that dirtbag Hawley. But she’s a great contributor on MSNBC and her How to Win podcast is solid too.
