  1. He’s not even the nominee yet. I don’t know if everyone is familiar with what’s going on in Ohio but we have a law that says the ballot must be certified 90 days before the election which means by Aug 7. The Democratic National Convention isn’t until Aug 19th so they’re planning to have a “virtual roll call” prior to Ohio’s Aug 7 deadline to declare Joe Biden the nominee and get him on the ballot. That’s going to complicate things in the calculation of if/when Biden should drop out.
  2. And Biden’s not doing that.
  3. No. In fact she even said, “I do not believe you are a racist.” She criticized him for opposing busing. He countered that he didn’t oppose it, just that he opposed it being mandated by the Dept. of Education. She argued that if it’s not mandated at the local level the Feds should step in. He argued his long history supporting civil rights, etc. I thought it was a pretty weak effort on her part to attack him. But that’s politics. Obviously he didn’t hold it against her.
  4. Who’s the answer? Who’s guaranteed to win? We should pick them.
  5. But it didn’t happen in a vacuum. It’’s because of Fox News. It wasn’t just to save money. It was to compete with a fake news network that was dominating the ratings. The fact that it’s cheaper to show a bunch of heads on the screen yelling at each other than to send reporters into the field to develop and report real news stories was just an added bonus. Also, Ted Turner lost control of CNN before Bush invaded Iraq so he didn’t really have anything to do with the Fox News effect. They were still a legitimate (if imperfect) news network when he was running things.
  6. You left out how Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes came along and changed the paradigm, grabbing the majority share of the ratings by creating a network more devoted to opinion than news. CNN was a better news network before Fox News came along and they’ve taken the unfortunate approach of trying to be more like Fox News in order to compete.
  7. Another stupid hypothetical question. What was Joe supposed to say? That if he didn’t win it would mean the election was rigged? That he’d be in the depths of despair because it meant democracy was dead? That he wasn’t going to lose? What if this happens? How would you respond? How many questions took that form? It kind of seemed like George has his mind made up that Joe should drop out of the race and that informed all of his questions.
  8. He was referring to the job, not that doctors literally administer a cognitive test every day.
  9. What if Schumer and Jeffries and Pelosi all ask you to quit? What would you do? What a stupid question. What’s he supposed to say? “Oh, sure?” Or “Not a chance?” Biden went with “They’re not going to do that” and that’s probably a good answer to a silly hypothetical. George is asking a bunch of pointless hypotheticals now. Biden sounded fine. Just old. It’s not going to make anyone get excited and say “Hey look! Everything’s fine!”
  10. Or his campaign team wants to run against Biden and is telling Trump to stay quiet and not say anything that might exacerbate the situation and help Joe decide to quit the race.
  11. Trump benefitted immensely by James Comey announcing publicly that the FBI was launching a new investigation into Hillary’s emails 11 days before the election. The FBI isn’t suppose to do that, and there was no new information to discover, but Comey took it upon himself to meddle in the election and probably cost Clinton the presidency.
  12. Sure, Donny. Now tell us you don’t know who Johnny McEntee is. https://www.heritage.org/press/former-ppo-director-john-mcentee-joins-project-2025-personnel-database-launches
  13. Where I live that’s the number for Yellow Cab.
  14. She’s the 5* QB recruit who dazzled in high school but hasn’t taken a meaningful snap since arriving on campus. The starter is struggling and nobody wants the backup. The backup couldn’t win the starting job so they’re not good enough. We want the prize recruit! They’ll save us! She has the benefit of being somewhat of an unknown so in our minds she can still be whatever we hope she’ll be. Get to know a candidate and Dem voters will turn on them because they’re not just exactly perfect. They want the next shiny new toy. I think there’s some of that going on. Don’t get me wrong, I think she’s got great promise. I like her and I’ll enthusiastically support her if they go the mini-primary route and she wins the nomination. And the fact that she’s a relative unknown could be an advantage because the Trump team will have to scramble to devise a strategy against her. Of course Trump’s boorish approach to negative campaigning doesn’t take a lot of time or thought. But they’ve spent so much time building a campaign against “senile” Joe Biden, forcing them to abandon that would toss a wrench into their gears. (Still, the phrase “crooked Gretchen Whitmer” would be blasted out from Trump about 5 seconds after her nomination.) But the unknown aspect could also be a benefit amongst undecided voters who might also see in her whatever they want to see.
