  1. On disc 2 of that Lakeland show there are unlisted bonus tracks from 10/11/73. There’s a killer Dancin’ followed by Dire Wolf. The Dire Wolf is fine. Kudos for filling up space on the disc. But the Dancin’ is huge. It crushes the one from 5/19/77, the first night of the release. (Which is also fine, of course.)
  2. Cleaning house on some intended comments. Remember I was revisiting DP29. All of Dick’s Picks are outstanding and that should go without saying. Here’s one item that caught my attention while listening in my car. Not something I would normally comment on. But Jerry’s picking on Me & My Uncle on 5/21/77 hit home. He tore it up. We also got his uncle lying there by the side of the road instead of his dead ass lying there.
  3. Nobody caught this goof. That’s okay, I only recently discovered it. What’s really crazy is that I didn’t notice the labeling error until after I cropped this photo. I just noticed I had two copies of the same show. Mis-labeling one tray as San Francisco is probably how I missed it in the first place. The whole thing is very strange and embarrassing. But someone will benefit because I have an extra recording to give away. And it’s a stellar show. It must have seemed like a perfect setlist for winter in the Rockies. It was released as Road Trips Vol. 4, No. 3. The cover art captured the mood.
  4. I’m not sure where to put this but this thread is here and this was sort of mainstream. Stephen Colbert’s monologue tonight was pretty blistering about the censorship of Jimmy Kimmel and about Trump/Carr’s trampling of free speech. But then after the first commercial break, Stephen introduced a special guest — Stephen Colbert from the Colbert Report who did a segment on The Wørd. It was brilliant. Jon Stewart is back on the Daily Show. Maybe next May we’ll see the return of the Colbert Report. One can hope.
  5. I think it would’ve gone so much better than it did under Trump. First, the plans and precautions and preparations that had already been put into place would have still been there instead of being dismantled by Trump. They would’ve taken the threat seriously and communicated it publicly, not tried to trivialize it like Trump did. And Congressional Republicans, not cowed by their fear of Trump, would’ve been safe to acknowledge the seriousness of the emergency. I think there would’ve been much more unity in messaging and hundreds of thousands of lives would’ve been saved. There might have been some pushback from the right-wing media, and of course Trump would have been tweeting contrarian bullshit, but the adults would have been in charge and that includes Republicans who had escaped the need to turn into cowardly sycophants to Trump in order to protect their political careers. And yes, literally anyone in the White House would’ve approved Operation Warp Speed (maybe under a less hyperbolic name). All or most of our leaders would’ve been open about wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and getting the vaccine. Yes, of course there would have been instances of politicians in situations of not following the rules and their political opponents would’ve made a big deal out of it. ‘You had a party! You held a fundraiser and didn’t wear a mask!’ Just like did happen sometimes around the globe. But overall there would not have been a campaign of mixed messages and disinformation. Hillary knows a little something about health care. And you can bet your life that she would’ve respected the advice of Dr. Fauci, wouldn’t have demonized him, and never, ever in a million years would have suggested that maybe people should inject disinfectant into their bodies as a means of fighting the virus like Trump did.
  6. It’s the price they’re willing to pay to get those damn socialists out of power.
  7. Classy.
  8. Wow. Legend. RIP.
  9. I don’t think I would be surprised at all.
  10. And also that we should value that diversity of perspective because it allows us to better serve a diverse customer base. It’s just good business.
  11. RIP Heather Heyer. Never forget her assassination.
  12. People who agree with those things don’t see a problem.

“Maybe a slight hold there.” Ya think?

    This is exciting, isn’t it?

I was thinking the last line I saw was ND -6.5. That muffed snap could’ve been huge but it might not matter.
  17. He wasn’t even close.
  18. That kick wasn’t going in from 5 yds closer.
  19. Hey Carter, why weren’t you attacking that ball?
  20. He’s going to miss this too. Or not.
  21. I am not the least bit surprised.
  22. Looks like UT was playing for the FG the whole time after the turnover. Couldn’t be much more conservative than that.
  23. Little bit of a flop there by the Beaver QB.
  24. I’ve heard lots of Trump supporters express sentiments that are critical of Trump. Then when called upon they dutifully drop to their knees and suck his tiny mushroom dick.
