  1. Did not realize it was a law. And frankly I don't think it's a bad idea, but man it's a sad statement as to where we are.
  2. Threat that never happened. Unlike the regular school shootings that are practically live-streamed for the world to see. There is a massive difference between reality and possible reality.
  3. Geographically, maybe. I mean it's SE Texas. In terms of culturally, it's more gulf coast than east Texas. It's more Galveston and less Jasper.
  4. But we never got bombed and neither did our parents. Sure there have been a couple of school bombings in history, but nothing like the frequency of school shootings. Kids today get to see the school shootings on the news monthly.
  5. We got an email from school admin 2 weeks ago that they were doing active shooter/emergency drills at my kid's school. She's in 2nd grade and told me about how they have closets to run and hide in. This bullshit will be their new normal.
  6. Exactly. Currently, Altuve is having his worst season since 2013. The numbers match up a lot more like 2014 when he had a ton of hits but very little power(7 HR). My guess is he'll get back into his groove, and probably soon.
  7. Don't you fucking dare ignore Bacliff and the greatness that is Gilhooley's.
  8. Huh. That's odd. I mean if you're not cunt punching during the fucking I'd say you're doing it wrong. Also, 2012 Schumer yes.... today, not so much. And why in the fuck did this thread need to be resurrected?
  9. Totally agreed. I'd really like to know from architects if it's just the buyers that push the ugly design because they don't know any better. I'd hope that someone formally trained in architecture would have a greater appreciation for how it works aesthetically. Man I wish I could go back into building houses again. I really enjoyed that.
  10. Yeah I know. I used to build houses and also remodeled/flipped a few. It just annoys me when people trot out that line of BS. The "cheap" factor for houses today comes in the finishes. If you don't actually look around and employ good design you wind up with cookie-cutter stuff, which is what builders do on everything not custom. The other side of that is that many finishes are so much more attainable and just not luxury the way they once were. Technology and manufacturing have made things that required a craftsman/artist very easy to get at low price points. And then absent a legit interior designer people slap together a hodgepodge of these luxury items without rhyme or reason. Architects have also seemed to have lost their damn mind and do some ugly ass shit to houses. It's like they give very little thought to exterior design vs interior sqft. But, none of that makes the houses worse/cheaper in terms of construction both for the guts or the finishes. It just means that a lot of tasteless and ugly shit gets built.
  11. Yanni only. I've listed to it on TV this morning and the link posted on FB through laptop speaker.
  12. Please explain how the stick framing and drywall of today is so much worse than that of the 40s/50s/60s. Also, the 1912 built Victorian I once owned was also stick built, but had paper over lathe for the walls. Believe it was likely a kit house from that era. Would also like to hear why that was better than what’s built today.
  13. I took my kid to that one a couple times on rainy days and shit just to get out of the house. It's the most tolerable of all. Games are pretty bad, but I discovered a couple where you can score some decent tickets so that the kid comes away with more than just a pencil eraser.
  14. Dates/Games for when the Astros reached their 13th game of 0/1 runs. And also how many of those 13 games were shutouts. 2018 - game 43 - May 14th - # of shutouts 4 2017 - game 113 - Aug 9th - # of shutouts 4 2016 - game 82 - July 3rd - # of shutouts 4 2015 - game 61 - June 10th - # of shutouts 4 And let's go back to those 100 loss seasons too. Just for shits and giggles. 2014 - game 48 - May 22nd - # of shutouts 5 2013 - game 66 - June 11th - # of shutouts 7 2012 - game 59 - June 9th - # of shutouts 3 2011 - game 77 - June 24th - # of shutouts 3 Holy fuck this team is in a funk at the plate. And somehow we're still in 1st place. But please, finally, can we stop with the "it's too early, everything will be fine" bullshit?
  15. Yeah, sounds like he needs to call a CPA and learn how to track his business expenses and take deductions.
  16. Say what? Something wrong with you? I get a good 2-3 shits daily. Sometimes 4.
  17. Chill the fuck out and channel your rage at the stupid situation you refuse to get yourself out of.
  18. Shit man that sucks. I've sat around him before and talked to him a couple times. He seems like a really nice guy.
  19. Huh. Is the guy a lefty or does he like playing open? The setup is all confusing to me with the toms and the hats being on the right but pedals to the left. Very interesting layout.
  20. That was fun. Dude stays amazingly consistent in the groove. His reverse cymbal crashes near the end were entertaining. And man I love the sound of that snare.
