  1. I took my kid to that one a couple times on rainy days and shit just to get out of the house. It's the most tolerable of all. Games are pretty bad, but I discovered a couple where you can score some decent tickets so that the kid comes away with more than just a pencil eraser.
  2. Dates/Games for when the Astros reached their 13th game of 0/1 runs. And also how many of those 13 games were shutouts. 2018 - game 43 - May 14th - # of shutouts 4 2017 - game 113 - Aug 9th - # of shutouts 4 2016 - game 82 - July 3rd - # of shutouts 4 2015 - game 61 - June 10th - # of shutouts 4 And let's go back to those 100 loss seasons too. Just for shits and giggles. 2014 - game 48 - May 22nd - # of shutouts 5 2013 - game 66 - June 11th - # of shutouts 7 2012 - game 59 - June 9th - # of shutouts 3 2011 - game 77 - June 24th - # of shutouts 3 Holy fuck this team is in a funk at the plate. And somehow we're still in 1st place. But please, finally, can we stop with the "it's too early, everything will be fine" bullshit?
  3. Yeah, sounds like he needs to call a CPA and learn how to track his business expenses and take deductions.
  4. Say what? Something wrong with you? I get a good 2-3 shits daily. Sometimes 4.
  5. Chill the fuck out and channel your rage at the stupid situation you refuse to get yourself out of.
  6. Shit man that sucks. I've sat around him before and talked to him a couple times. He seems like a really nice guy.
  7. Huh. Is the guy a lefty or does he like playing open? The setup is all confusing to me with the toms and the hats being on the right but pedals to the left. Very interesting layout.
  8. That was fun. Dude stays amazingly consistent in the groove. His reverse cymbal crashes near the end were entertaining. And man I love the sound of that snare.
  9. How many of these guys were wearing grey slacks??
  10. I'll second this. Definitely find Monkey Business. It's this tiny bar in a little enclave of shitty t-shirt shops/souvenirs. The dude makes the best margaritas I've ever had.
  11. Holy crap. Went yesterday afternoon around lunchtime for the half price deal. There are clearly a shit ton more people that take advantage than I thought. Saw a handful of dudes with headphones on that were moving from machine to machine strategically playing the games BlueGreySky suggested. There were a few ladies there too that were clearly there to rack up points. That was an interesting experience. Oh, and the coin pushers may be the best value on 1/2 price day. I've yet to master the other games so the value per play is hard to match. On the jug toss I was never able to get the jackpot but got 4 in a couple of times. The zombie pusher game didn't have any of the 300pt zombie pucks. It had 1 of the 500pt ones that I managed to win, but then only the 250s were left. So I didn't fuss with that much. The ball drop game I can't ever get more than 45 in. And in terms of point value if you can't hit the jackpot every few plays it doesn't seem worthwhile. So, the coin pushers. Clearly you scout the machines that have the most potential for chips and cards dropping first. OR, if you know which is the rare card in the deck and you see one in a position to get you have to go for it. For Wizard of Oz it's the Toto card. For Star Trek it's the Tribbles card. These are the ones that help you complete the set to get the 2,000/5,000pt bonus. Right now I have 21 varied cards but no Toto. I'll just hold all the cards as sets until I score some Toto cards. The other thing about the coin pushers are the bonus plays. I figured out that if I scan my card 3 times in a row when starting that without fail I'll get 1-2 of the 50 bonuses during that play. If you know you'll be at the machine for a bit you might as well do it as you start with a few bonus plays for doing that anyway. What I found was that with just 3 swipes plus the bonuses won that I'd usually be able to clear off what I wanted to get from that machine and then move on to the next one. So that was 16.2 credits used and in doing so I'd get a bunch of those chips (15pts ea) and a few cards too. Conversely on the jug toss you can play it 5 times for 17 credits. I was averaging about 100-120 points per play so that was say 600 points earned. I think the math will work out with the set bonuses that the coins are better IF they are positioned properly. Conversely if I can get to where I score 3+ balls in the jug on every toss then that game becomes better. But so far I can't average that as I'm more like 2 out of 5.
  12. 2,1 And I wouldn't complain. They don't look comical....... Yet.
  13. Let me try my previous pics again. Car still at body shop so I won’t show any finals of the exterior yet. I’ll probably just do a big post with a bunch of pics. Before: After:
  14. Yeah the Jag, 57 Chevy, and Nash are my favorites.
  15. That Jaguar is/was amazing. Apparently he and a neighbor went in on it together to buy it. Such a sexy car. My dad and I started searching around for one just for fun and it seems they run $125k and up now. Edit - just found one for $94k. And a project one for $34k. Lol. Such a bargain!
  16. Gramps was a total car freak. Blows my mind how many different vehicles he owned over the years. 1948 Dodge 1956 Chevy Bel Air 1960 Jaguar XK150
  17. Fucking gross
  18. Oh and I told the story in Shag so I'll repeat it here in case you guys missed it. The kid sitting in the Bond car was my mom's neighbor. My grandpa let him sit in it for a photo op. Apparently a few years later a plane crashed into their house(or part of a plane) or something and killed the kid.
  19. Couple more. Never been able to figure this one out. It’s a 1929-32 model of some sort. 1958 Auto Union DKW 3=6 1951 Bond Minicar
  20. Couple of pics of cars my grandfather in Argentina owned. I posted these before on Shag so figured I’d drop them here as well. No idea what this car is. We think it may be a 1927/28 Nash. Notice the right hand drive. 1960 Simca Oceane 1957 Chevy Bel Air
  21. Duesenberg. That's where the saying "it's a doozie" comes from. And yes. I'm a fan of lots of different types of classic cars, but it's just that very few of the muscle car era get me excited.
  22. Sort of. I've watched a bunch of Mecum and B&J auctions on tv. Seems like so often I can see in the lineup some cool cars from the 30s-50s that are about to come up while they're profiling like a '70 Chevelle. And then they cut to a commercial and come back having missed those cars and now there is a '69 Camaro or a Roadrunner or something on the block. Clearly they will show what they think the vast majority of the viewership wants to so I get it. Maybe I'm just salty because I prefer cars from the 20's-50's. Very few muscle cars get me excited.
  23. This was posted in the Houston Foodie group.
  24. The lava reminds me of this scene:
  25. The auction was last month. It aired live when it was going on. My only beef with Mecum's broadcasts are that they show so many of the 60s muscle cars. I'd like to see more variety in what they televise since I know the other cars are there.
