  1. I joined this weird clan of traveling misfits, oozing from one board to another, back in 2011. What I recall was the CR was dominated by a handful of guys like Swam who just constantly ragged on Obama, Hilary, and reveled in Facebook memes about ACA/Obamaphones/tan suits/etc. At the time I just ignored it because the old rep system meant one misstep would crater your newbie account quickly. Now you could reasonably argue that things have swung the other way, however I’d counter that there have been far more real world impacts under Trump…rise of the alt right storming the Capitol, women losing right to choose, misinformation killing people from Covid, attacks against trans/gay/minorities, etc…and thus actually worthy of derision vs 2011 bitching about drone strikes or the deficit or feet on the Resolute desk. So yeah, the CR has changed…for the better if you ask me.
  2. “It looks like a chewed up piece of shit with rust, misaligned panels, interior by Mattel, being hauled around on a trailer…or maybe it’s an original Robocop movie prop left outside on a production back lot for 40 years…can’t wait to buy it!”
  3. He’s playing Chutes and Ladders just like my 7yo daughter does…get lucky by catching the huge ladder that traverses 2/3rds of the map and then endlessly tries to cheat to avoid catching any of the slides, throwing fits when I call her on it.
  4. On one hand the GOP really deserves to eat their own dog food and succumb to massive consequences for letting these insane people have any voice in their party…on the other hand, it’s *maybe* possible they can expel the children where the aftermath has some semblance of governance through affective compromise like it’s supposed to be. Who am I kidding…the past decade+ has shown they’ll go with the easy evil route of hurting everyone but rich white folk. Carry on
  5. Yes that show was awesome. I know it’s pretty much straight up Transatlanticism/Give Up so you knew what was coming…but some of those extended jams had me absolutely lost in the music. Had to remind myself that Chris Walla left almost a decade ago. I hadn’t been to the track for a show since Dave Chapelle came back as part of that comedy tour thing…so ages ago. Hated that venue then and I hate it now… - Even arriving at 830 the traffic to get in was a cluster fuck And unless you spring for VIP parking it’s a haul + very little in the way of lighting or other means to remember where your car is - GA lawn showed seats available this week but I don’t know how you’d cram more folks in there…we had to hug the fence stage-right which meant a contestant parade of apparent ham planets squeezing past - Price of drinks are absolutely insane. Obviously part of a bigger trend but holy shit, glad I had brought gummies - We were in lot F, and when you get to the end of your row there was a sea of cones supposedly to direct traffic in orderly lanes but really it was a confusing mess…so many people made a single file line when there were actually two lanes to get out but the poor cone placement obfuscated it all I can’t imagine what race day is like out there. Serving such a huge, global venue with a pair of two lane country roads is awful. Parking is often the most stressful thing about seeing shows anymore and if I never go out there again, I’m fine with it.
  6. Sad thing is I know about a dozen people just like him here in Texas…spouts false narratives about California, constantly outraged about something, somehow works guns into half the conversations, and endlessly talks tough. They’ve always been there, just now they’re emboldened as that behavior has gone ‘mainstream’. My experience at 43 years old is you always watch for the calm, quiet ones. Often they’re the smartest/funniest/toughest. Naturally, I never shut the fuck up.
  7. Not helpful now but we park at Chuys, despite regular price increases. We car pool from RR with friends, so splitting it six ways makes the cost bearable. There’s an alley/road behind that makes it easy to get out and turn left onto Lamar…so long as you don’t run over the hoard of drunks. Once you purchase a weekend pass, you’re ‘in’ and they email you each year before going public…we used to do this at Shady Grove (RIP), got grandfathered in but miss the Bobcat Goldwhait-looking guy who directed cars…also miss back when VIP was affordable and 4 passes came with parking. Low key excited for the weather outlook. This summer I was worried it’d be 2005-levels of pain.
  8. Well, anyone who has driven from Austin to Colorado knows that Goldwhaite is a strategic crossroads town, up there with Bastogne, in that it’s your first sign of civilization with gas station bathrooms that don’t look like the one in Trainspotting.
  9. and as productive as this
  10. No no no, this sucker’s electrical
  11. I’m shocked that different people have had different experiences with severity of Covid…or that those with a propensity for dumbassery would abuse the presence of a pandemic to try avoiding work! Personally, it knocked the shit out of my wife and I for a full 24 hours each but recovered quickly (most likely) thanks to our vaccines. CARES showed no infection-driven antibodies leading up to it, so wasn’t natural immunity. And for all you WFH-haters, I actually continued to work on all but the worst day…whereas if I’d been a full time office employee, would have been obligated to stay out for another 3-4 days when I was still contagious / feeling bad. So for me, a tenured and experienced employee working in a geo-diverse org, my employer actually gets more productivity out of me by not forcing me to sit in a hotel cube under the guise of ‘team building’ (after spending an hour in the car).
  12. So Gundy finally makes a call to stick with a QB, and now Bowman is 5-13? If we are gonna suck ass, at least invest in the future. Gundys handling of QB’s has been horribad but this is epic now. Im actually kinda hoping for a tanked season that puts some pressure on him to get a new OC, and actually do some hard thinking over the offseason.
  13. I always loved that Depp lived with Hunter before filming began, to adopt his mannerisms and borrow that famous patchwork jacket. It’s wild that he nearly killed himself by putting an ashtray on a barrel of explosives (so they claim) in the basement, and it’s always struck me that Depp never fully extricated himself from the Hunter Lifestyle…which basically no one but HST could really live. Believe Bill Murray said something to the effect that you had to be careful spending much time around the man…his character had a way of worming itself into your permanent psyche, and was ultimately hazardous to your health. Then again, it looks awfully fun
  14. Charge $10 to make a new username with posting privileges, at least until Chrispy / Animal x Nicotine Source goes the fuck away.
