  1. Yep it’d be a great way for them to reach a wider audience on their limited hours of operation, shit they make and dick jokes
  2. There’s plenty of subreddit echo chambers for whatever subject you want to feed your confirmation bias with.
  3. Well generative models are proving to have unexpected impacts, Reddit is certainly allowed to not provide that content for free to them or 3rd party apps, but the users have a right to voice their displeasure with the native app apparently being trash / shutting out 3rd party interfaces. Just like this place / Twitter, the value is in the user base and content they provide. Curious to see how it all pans out. Reddit does trend towards a younger audience, who love to mix naïveté and outrage in curious fashion…strongly political but don’t vote, validly criticize obscene corporate profits but don’t offer proposed solutions, etc. I’m not dismissive of their complaints, by any stretch, but this feels a little like facebook alternatives…Reddit has massive momentum in content and market penetration, competitors are small and fragmented, and many probably feel like me in that I have no interest in ‘starting over’ again (Fark, Digg, etc) for another source of that kind of info.
  4. I wish I was like 6’9” so I can get with Leoshi, cause she don’t know me but yo she really fine.
  5. How did that guy from Home Alone 2 get access to classified info in the first place?
  6. Given your track record on accuracy around here I’m going to assume the opposite
  7. Makes perfect sense to stop in North Platte, but wow what a full-circle moment to stop in (assuming) that insanely huge yard complex they have there.
  8. All CyberTruck makes me think of all the fingerprints my damn stainless fridge gets
  9. Until I read the article I thought this was going to be about TXTag
  10. “Intelligence officials”. Granted I didn’t read the whole YGIFy novel, but seems the key whistleblower is a retired guy and corroboration is via unnamed sources. Not sure how I’d feel about legit signs of intelligent life…I’m a firm subscriber to the ‘no news is good news’ camp, given all the nasty possibilities under the Fermi Paradox. Seems very unlikely we are the first, so maybe everything within earshot and our timeline of radio-astrology are just simple organisms…or maybe intelligent life is the great filter (behind us), and everything that’s made it to the other side is far enough that any signals we can detect won’t be here for millions of years. That’s about the only good way I see it unfolding. Everything else just sucks…intelligent civilizations existed but were wiped out by the great filter (ahead of us), or know to stfu to avoid being exterminated by the assholes out there, or we are too stupid to detect them, or The Architect is waiting to reboot the Matrix, etc.
  11. And there’s an absolutely monster backlash brewing among the users about it
  12. Throwaway culture in product design and manufacturing sucks ass. I’ve had so many products where you can’t find parts, or some tiny plastic piece breaks rendering the whole thing useless. My ‘favorite’ is this tire pump I have…typical Chineseum: housing is metal, hoses are all high quality, thing has a duty cycle of like 30 minutes, overall just a tank. The one shitty plastic piece is the 12v power plug for the car, which split apart after a few uses. Same thing with a vacuum cleaner…tiny clip that holds the handle to the body busted. Emailed the manuf, they had to replace the entire thing and I threw out the old one. Sucks.
  13. Hypoxia is no joke, and at altitude wouldn’t take very long at all before everyone is incapacitated. The Kalitta 66 ATC recording shows how impaired a lack of oxygen at altitude makes you…the pilot here sounds drunk until he descends, and you can hear the cabin pressure alarms wailing in the background but he seems completely unaware: They think MH 370 was depressurized to incapacitate the passengers until their masks ran out, then the pilot ditched it in the middle of nowhere. And of course the Payne crash, where the windows were frosted over. Scary.
  14. Sounds about right. Possible that saying they were AD saved them from a more serious confrontation, because as stupid as it seems to most people…those guys take that stuff very seriously. My buddies and I wanted to end just being a Riding Group, which is apparently down a level in seriousness…you have your circular patch but no rockers. Eventually we just said screw all this hot mess. However the one dude was so enamored he ended up starting an actual MC, diving headlong into that world with his club having all of like six members. They were on their way to Waco when the shootout happened. He desperately wanted to be on the fringes of the 1%’ers, his friends eventually reflected that and we parted ways…rest of us wanted to stay away from that shit. He went full into QAnon, no shocker there.
  15. Reading HST’s Hells Angels is a lot of fun, and somewhat insightful into their world…though things seemed to have changed from the Sonny Barger days as the Bandidos apparently run a lot of drugs now and seem more open to straight murder. The Banesh killing is interesting view on how those works collide. Two national-level patched members and one wannabe were eventually convicted. The original Chronicle story: https://www.austinchronicle.com/news/2006-05-19/366344/ Convictions: https://www.mysanantonio.com/news/local/article/Former-high-ranking-Bandido-gets-15-years-without-13278099.php I find this stuff interesting as a friend back in ~2006 wanted to start a full fledged MC and all the stupid shit ‘rules’ that come with it: can’t have a Texas rocker on your colors, have to join the council of clubs that’s basically a way for Bandidos to control/observe, essentially slimming the dues as tithing, can’t use their ketchup/mustard (Marines) colors, etc. Believe the council meeting in waco is where that shootout went down. Even if their patch doesn’t say Bandidos, if it’s the USMC colors and a name like Companeros or whatever…it’s an approved support club and same shit applies.
  16. It’s over, 9-1? Just wish we’d have closed the deal with TCU to have earned some hardware. Oh well I’ll be rooting y’all on, except fuck Troubador
