  1. “Everything is so expensive under the Demonrats that mah family can barely afford to live”… Fun fact on Space Mutiny: the guy who plays David Rider/Roll Fizzlebeef and the Sexy Senior Citizen are actually married, and she’s younger than him. My sister and I also randomly ask each other if we’ve signed Sherry’s birthday card.
  2. For 18 months I’d heard about the pending recession, ‘economic headwinds’ and how businesses were having to layoff/cut spend/raise prices etc in preparation…bunch of bullshit. Before that it was supply chain issues…which obviously were a factor for months during peak Covid but had long passed in mid-2021. Now it’s ’collaboration and innovation is better in-person’ that large businesses are using to make people’s lives miserable with forced RTO, constant threat of layoffs, jamming more people into fewer offices, etc. Fuck em. It’s like the Fox News crowd, always blaming Trans folks, immigrants, taxes, abortion or whatever else they can use to distract folks.
  3. How did I miss this thread last season? I love this show…much prefer smart, dialog driven, tight ~30m stories with distinctive characters that play their part well. Give me a five minute chat between Tyrian and Queen of Thorns over any hour long CGI circle jerk. Am glad to see this season sticking to that formula with some new twists while still allowing Ford an out that doesn’t feel contrived and would let the core continue. Curious to see if Goldstein’s acting chops have another gear, and I think we all identify with Derek a little too much meaning he does a good job. Wife still throws in ‘safe dick is the best dick’ into conversation lol.
  4. This whole thing reminds me of asking my kids why they were fighting…after ten minutes of backstory from both perspectives, it comes down to my son not giving my daughter a turn on the Fischer Price toy vacuum in 2016.
  5. That whole exchange was a Surly version of watching the Globetrotters…I knew the outcome before it started, it was going to be an epic beat down, and that Sydney was gonna bust out the ladders and trampolines as a from-the-top-rope finale.
  6. Voted this morning at a hotel here in cedar park. We took our 8 and 11yo kiddos with us, and while showing my eldest how the process works he said loudly ‘daddy make sure you don’t hit that, it’s for Trump it says’ lol. Typical chatty, bubbly and hilarious retiree at the line control spot leading into the room…who made sure to thank every kid there for dragging their parents in. Fast and easy, the way it should be…so we went thru the line a few more times, went and grabbed our illegal housekeeper to ensure she got a couple turns, and decided ‘fuck it’ so paid the Haitian yard crew a few puppies to get their votes as well. /s
  7. Rogan is just like Trump…the idea of a smart person to dumbasses. He’s obviously successful and deserves credit building his empire, but strikes me in that pseudo intellectualist bent that is poison to the ‘do your research’ crowd. I’m all about questioning established concepts, even to the extent of the Covid vaccine like he did…but the way serious people do that is through citing sound evidence and the scientific method to support your conclusions, not mining the relentless ocean of shit available on the net or quack guests that you never directly challenge. I do laugh though that apparently Trump was 3+ hours late to his rally that night after doing a 3 fuckin hour podcast with JR.
  8. I absolutely murder the fuck out of the unsweetened HEB Sparkling waters…all flavors.
  9. All right everybody, time to retire as a Counter Insurgency specialist and start a new career as Senior Principal Intelligence Analysts. Job market may be rough for tech right now but I’ve heard there’s a dearth of Economic Intelligence Vaccine Urban Planning Offensive Coordinators.
  10. When I see that, all I can think about is hoping it’s their Nebraska Phone Flop Out moment
  11. Well he said he worked ‘with’ SpaceX, so maybe he was their Customer Success Manager at the local refuse agency? Or delivered mail to them?
  12. ^^ What’s this rational take shit? On a side note, tangentially related to topic at hand…seems a few B2’s obliterated some seriously hardened bunkers in Yemen that the Houthi’s were using to store weapons in. I’d imagine we had intelligence that a significant stock of Iranian SRBM’s were stored there and timing was sending a message to ‘carefully consider your next move with Israel’. Speculation is swirling that they may have dropped MOPs, 30,000lbs of bunker busting freedom. You only use those limited, specialized assets for critical targets…if so, I’d hope a significant portion of Iran’s primary means of involving itself with Israel/Palestine and intimidating the ME (missiles) just went kaboom. I’d like to think that this is related to the THAAD deployment as a means to attenuate responses by both Israel and Iran.
  13. Will never understand some people’s affinity for billionaires and large companies. This ‘we will make as many miserable as possible so we can reduce headcount without paying severance’ RTO push, taking in huge profits by keeping pandemic-shortage prices, funding massive disinformation campaigns…it’s all making me MORE bitter towards these people/companies, not less. Tesla could return to a leadership role but it seems apparent to me that remaining key talent is chasing these vanity projects (CT, bullshit 2-person low slung ‘taxi’, human-controlled ‘robots’ serving drinks, a van that can’t survive a speed bump) instead of developing new models…instead they have aging offerings that all look the same and potential customers turned off by Elon-stan making an ass of himself.

  15. Oh that was in no way, shape or form supporting Elmo’s dumbass…just pointing out that ICBM’s, satellites, etc have used star trackers. Inertial is making a comeback as area denial starts to include GPS jamming…not to mention ASAT weapons. Was always fascinated by the AIRS unit in the Peacekeeper https://www.twz.com/30254/this-isnt-a-sci-fi-prop-its-a-doomsday-navigator-for-americas-biggest-cold-war-icbm
  16. SR-71 used Star tracking cameras in the 60’s to navigate, along with a slew of other weapons…but yeah, not so much first few minutes of flight
  17. Prepare for ‘creative’ editing
  18. No way that’d pass regulatory approval
  19. At first I was confused, thinking the van thing was the ‘taxi’, figuring it made sense to not have a 2-seat taxi…then I realized that it was better that they’re only going to kill two people at a time when they invariably run over a cigarette butt, veer off the street, and crash into Harry’s Discount Dynamite and Daycare.
  20. Beautiful cabin crew. Scarlett Johansson.
  21. Our little core group has established ‘home base’ under a tree between the water station and handicap viewing platform on that side of the field for something like a decade now. Our friends know where to find us, gives us a place to sit / socialize that’s out of the way, and being 40’s/50’s we definitely prefer a shaded spot to recuperate between excursions around the park. A few us were about four songs into Pretty Lights when we got the wive’s ‘SOS, we’re being overrun’ text…so we walked back over to help take down our stuff. Holy smokes even in that little semi-secluded corner it was borderline scary levels of crowding. That was somewhere between Lizzo and Bob Dylan levels of crush-risk. Both of which were shows that I noped out of as fast I possibly could…all it takes is one panicky person to cause serious issues.
