  1. I have absolutely no knowledge or experience or understanding of any of this…and I have just as much sympathy for the industry crowing about R&D costs when the tv is plastered with ads telling me to ‘ask your doctor about Provasic’ 30 years ago my parents used to bring me tons of random crap they were given by pharma reps including some very pricey custom items like a fosamax clock. How many billions do they spend every year advertising to consumers and manufacturing pens, clocks, calendars and other crap, or sending docs on golf vacations to peddle their wares?
  2. Nowhere near a lawyer but this fuckup harkens me back to reading The Rainmaker with the withheld section U in the underwriting manual and the ‘you must be stupid, stupid, stupid’ letter. So this whole thing is awesome to watch unfold.
  3. ^^ Thanks for sharing. Does a great job elaborating on something I mentioned to my wife tonight, the cinematography is outstanding. Love how he pointed out it conveys tension without shaky camera…a technique that I hate (sorta ruins great fight choreography in the Bourne movies, some of my favorites, and is way overplayed). Also awesome to know they didn’t use any hand doubles
  4. We just finished Ep 4 last night, and I absolutely loved it. My only experience in a commercial kitchen was working at Pizza Hutt for a few years in high school, so not really relatable but as someone enamored with learning how things work I love seeing what a real kitchen looks like during full tilt boogey time…had read a lot of ‘yeah that’s The Life for sure’ takes leading up to it. On a side note I hope this finally gets my wife to read Kitchen Confidential. We had to pause a few times so I could explain Family, Order/Fire/Hands, etc. Its one of my absolute favorites and have a hard copy signed by the man himself when he visited Austin, during which he accused me of throwing it in the toilet (I left it on a hotel balcony when traveling and got rained on). That book does a wonderful job of pulling back the curtain on a mid-level kitchen and I pay so much more attention to back of house now. Can’t wait for episode 7.
  5. How can you kill, that which has no life?
  6. So it’s not just 200+ year old documents we are citing as reasons to control people, or even some infinitely translated/rewritten religious text…but now it’s come down to ancient Roman practices? WTF.gif
  7. Yeah you have to be careful as I’ve read that the Northern United Toast, Crepe And Scone Egalitarian Supporters have a small but growing political faction and a lot of dollars behind it there. N.U.T.C.A.S.E.S have a surprising amount of leverage.
  8. My first electronic love had to be Any Colour You Like…and of course On The Run on DSOTM…back in 1990 when I heard that album for the first time (thanks mom!). I’m on record here being a big Crystal Method fan, and I sure love my Massive Attack, Pretty Lights, Deadmau5, etc. As the Ghostland Observatory told me…just gimme the beat. But holy fuck I’m with you on trance. When I first heard the brown album back in 2000 or so, it felt like home. Certainly aided by copious cubensis I drank in Orbital, The Orb, Robert Miles, Oakenfold. Around 2007 I was jamming GT vs Project C or Trance Around The World when out walking. It sticks with you doesn’t it? Which is why I was stoked when I came across this dude on YouTube, who recently has been deconstructing some of our favorites…instant sub: There’s also massive attack and chemical brothers in there. Combined my love of trance with my need to know how something works. Note: This has sent me on a wormhole reading about classic synthesizers like the Wavestation used in Halcyon, or the famed Jupiter 8. Reading about how Survive used some 80’s gear to compose for Stranger Things just dug me deeper…but holy shit a J8 in good shape fetches $20k+. Anyways I ramble on here, among my electronic friends. Don’t really know anyone into this stuff. More power to y’all, no shame being the old folks at those shows. Hell my wife and I felt old at 32 seeing Pretty Lights and Passion Pit.
  9. And none of that shit is any of your/our business
  10. So is this what peak off-season feels like?
  11. Well again, since I hate myself, headed on over to the good folks of the FN comment section. Upcoming talking points to be: 1) Corporations don’t pay taxes, they just pass that onto consumers. Thus setting a tax rate floor will just increase inflation by putting more money into circulation. 2) Investing in climate initiatives will just increase inflation by putting more money into circulation. So…what do they want the government to do besides have an R next to their name? You get blasted by those folks by doing ‘nothing’ for inflation, or get blasted by doing ‘anything’. The more time passes the more divided I become on this and just dismiss anything they have to say. I’m becoming a part of the problem. This is why I rarely listen to NPR much anymore, I just argue with the radio sarcastically…it’s not their message, it’s already knowing the cause of gridlock or the removal of rights. After seeing the complete lack of capital investment and extensive stock buyback during the last few years…I have full faith companies in the $1B+ class can pay taxes without firing all their staff or raising prices. Sure Manchin will still pull the football away
  12. Ouch. 0.24 with her kids in the car.
  13. Since I apparently hate myself, I occasionally check Fox to read comments on story. Since this one involved a black person who had been previously accused of a crime, knew it’d be slimy…but seems a way to keep a pulse on that community. There are literally hundreds of comments about ‘different puzzle, same answer Pat’ and ‘can’t tell which snakes are poisonous so in nature you avoid them all’. So veiled racist comments about Wheel of Fortune and poisonous snakes are the latest RW ‘jokes’? Yeah sometimes they get over accused of being bots, but if those aren’t semi-automated comments then those folks surely get all in line quickly to post the same drivel.
  14. “I need your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle”
  15. Believe it was here in the CR that someone posted a very succinct Twitter thread that surmised these peoples whole life revolves around ‘I can tell you what to do, you cannot tell me what to do’. And that is exactly the crux… They'll shove gun, abortion, transgender, identity politics down your throat trying to force everyone into their ideal but the moment any legislature is proposed on gun control it’s “big government is overreaching” The irony across the board…every accusation a confession, they all beat you over the head with the word freedom, they plaster themselves in American flags. It’s disgusting
  16. This big bitch flew right over my house, insanely low today. Was making dinner and had that ‘better run outside, something special is flying over’ feeling. https://flightaware.com/live/flight/N522AX https://www.kxan.com/news/local/austin/forest-service-opening-airtanker-base-at-aus-to-help-fight-wildfires/amp/ Was quite the shock, especially being that low. Looks like they never got above 3500 feet, I wonder if they stay VFR and would assume they use flight following to avoid the bug smashers. Anyways keep your eyes peeled. Their Twitter has some cool shots from around Texas.
  17. I wonder if this fucker is available
