  1. Back on and off as of 11 last night and back on for good since about 6 this morning in 03. Across the street to the south and next several blocks south still out.
  2. I’m a block or 2 away. They were all over the place and one of them told me it was about to happen. It did for about 2 minutes and now 3 hours later here we are in the dark. Fuck everything.
  3. Abbot’s was in corpus spewing voucher bullshit while this was happening. He thinks it’s funny.
  4. After zero activity all week finally a bunch of trucks in my hood 03. One of the guys told me it’s imminent but my hope is fading as that was 2 hours ago. These workers are being greeted like nazi occupied France liberators.
  5. we're in 03 and same experience. dark quiet eery ghost town with only light being gas lit porch lights. zero crews or activity and still no fucking power. we're getting out of town for the weekend if not back on by late afternoon. fucking sucks.
  6. was going to post this. I love Coach Harmon. He hates the fucking aggies. nothing better back in the day than going to college station and having all of those hayseed fucks lined up on both sides of the bus when you walk into the stadium yelling the most horrible shit as us and then shutting them the fuck up and smiling at them on the walk out.
  7. Mine 9 yr old boy is super mad at it and I need some 410 shells for a late season dove hunt. I’ve never ordered shells online - 1 can you? 2 do you know a good website? Austin area stores I’ve called don’t have any and I’m assuming it’s that way everywhere this time of year but would love to be wrong if anyone knows. Thank you
  8. I was very fortunate to play for him. I wasn’t very good and didn’t play very much but the opportunity Coach Gus gave to me changed my life. I owe him so much. RIP Coach. Thank you for everything!!
  9. I tore my plantar fascia playing tennis about a year ago. I was at the baseline and started to sprint forward to get to a drop shot and, as I pressed with the ball of my foot to move forward I heard and felt a loud pop. It was like someone shot me it hurt so fucking bad. I had to hop off the court and for several days I couldn't put any pressure on it at all. After 5 or so days I was able to lose the crutches but was in a boot for 6 or 7 weeks. Lots of stretching and physical therapy and it got better slowly over the next few months. I'd say I was close to 100% by about month 6. It's been really hard to trust my foot and really move at 100% but I'm pretty much there. My pt took molds of my feet and I got some custom made full length arch supports. I wear those now and they seem to really help. Long story short -- stretches like those above and find someone to get really good arch supports custom made.
  10. My mechanic is telling me bad luck -- basically it's rare but sometimes they shit the bed. I talked to GM warranty people and a few service managers here in Austin and they're telling me that, even though it's out of warranty GM will likely cover at least 20% of the repair cost if I get it done at the dealer. As to selling / trading in now or getting fixed first the service managers I spoke with are telling me it's likely a wash.
  11. Question for the group -- I have a 2018 suburban with 75K miles that I love and has been great. I just found out the transmission is shot and has to be replaced. I've been looking at new suburbans and was thinking about trading in anyway. Does it make more sense to pay to have the transmission replaced then trade in or trade in as is?
  12. Got it. Appreciate the response. We’re kind of up in the air but might head that way as we enjoy sf regardless. Will report back if we make it to the mountain.
  13. Are you not going to SF bc of lack of snow? We were thinking about driving over next week but I just looked and it says 20 inch base / 5 of 7 lifts open / but only 21 of 88 trails open. We have a 9 and 11 year old and pretty modest ski needs but is it not worth it based on these figures?
  14. Any recs bw trek cannondale or woom for a 12 yr old girl to ride around the neighborhood and maybe some light trail riding?
  15. about a 30 minute wait at city hall downtown Austin just now but line about twice as long as when i went it. based on my bias of likely traits of both sides i'd say almost everyone there going with the D.
  16. holy shit Smoltz is horrible. his takes suck but my main issue is that he won't shut the fuck up. it's like someone at Fox told him he wasn't talking enough. i understand the WS merits more commentary than a midseason game but jesus christ. had to turn the fucking sound off.
  17. headed to the Format Festival in Bentonville this weekend. it's described as a multidisciplinary experience unifying over eighty live music acts with two dozen visual, performance, and institutional artists from around the world. looking forward to Phoenix and Flaming Lips. i think we'll miss Kruangbhin as they come on late Sunday but we've seen them a lot lately. also curious / excited to see Kingfish Ingram.
  18. Best gameday scene I’ve seen at DKR in a long long time. We were in a friend’s seats 4 rows up on east side on about north 35 yl and it was intense. Hot as fuck but no one sat down the whole game and everyone really into it. Fucking refs and fucking dirty cheating bama. Can’t believe they hurt our qb again.
  19. Billy Strings was great too. EmmyLou talked about her rescue dogs the whole time and even sang a song about one.
  20. park in the garage across from clay pit and pedicab to DKR and back
  21. Went to beach road weekend in martha's vineyard last weekend and had a great time -- Beck, Wilco, Isbell, Khruangbin, Caamp, Lettuce, Emylou, Billy Stings. Loved that it was over at 8 each night -- let us get back to the house and have a few more beers but still get to bed relatively early. Beck killed it. Hadn't seen Wilco in a long time and could not believe how fat Jeff Tweedy has gotten -- sounded pretty good, though.
  22. Any suggestions for a shop in Austin that will (1) service a late 90's era submariner (it runs when you pick it up and start moving it but the dial won't turn the hands to set it) and (2) replace the face (i guess that's the crystal?) on a vintage (60s i think) Air-King (cracked when it got dropped on a hard floor). thank you
  23. Finally heading home from a great trip and loved all of our stops (especially all of the small towns way south in the heel of the boot) but I think Rome is my favorite.
