  1. in puglia now and had the absolute best pizza we've ever had at a place called borgo egnazia close to fasano. we've also really enjoyed the little towns in the area. Ostuni and Lecce have been two of our favorites.
  2. We were there last week. Great place. Kids loved going back and forth from pool to lake. Fun little town to walk around. High dive into the lake blew kids’ minds.
  3. What’s going on? I’m over here now and haven’t noticed anything different. Hopefully stays that way til we head back to Rome and fly out next week.
  4. We did Austin to dc to Frankfurt to Milan then driver to como driver to ballagio driver to Venice train to Rome rented a car and got to puglia 3 days ago. Me wife and 2 kids. Lufthansa lost all of our luggage. Wife and kids got theirs in Venice but they fucking sent mine to the wrong place. It got to Venice the day after we left. I’m still waiting for it in puglia. I’m big and fat and have had hell finding any clothes that fit. Great trip but sucks dick not having any of my shit. I fucking hate Lufthansa and their baggage delivery company more.
  5. one more question -- we're talking about driving up Saturday and staying somewhere Saturday night. any suggestions on somewhere fun to spend the night bw here and there? we'll have a 8 and 10 year old with us so things like the worlds largest ball of twine or (second) biggest hole are in our wheelhouse.
  6. I'm sure it's been covered but a couple of quick questions for anyone that can help. We're talking about trying to go to the Sunday night game if everything goes our way. We haven't made any plans but are fine with driving. What are the chances of getting tickets and a place to stay? What is the best way to get tickets?

  8. Yes I was thinking that while writing the above. What a mess. It’s all broken.
  9. Does your store have any procedure that provides notice to the other employees in case he comes back in when you’re not there? What about any reporting to authorities in those types of cases? Seems like if you felt something was off enough to deny a sale it would merit telling others.
  10. Watts is going to team up with the CT plaintiffs' lawyers from Sandy Hook that got that big settlement from Remington and go after the manufacturer. The Sandy Hook plaintiffs focused on CT state law (sounds kind of like DTPA) to circumvent the federal statutes that shield gun manufacturers from liability. They're going to focus on the manufacturer's targeting of children in their marketing (apparently Daniel Defense has ads for their guns in call of duty and this asshole was really into that). Long story short -- Watts and the CT lawyers know what they're doing and are going to fuck up Daniel Defense. Issue (of course) will likely be Daniel Defense doesn't have Remington level assets (I'd guess -- I don't know shit about that world so maybe I'm wrong).
  11. Have the covid and have been quarantined so I’ve watched a lot of this the last few days. I watch a lot of pga but not much college golf at all. I’ve been surprised at how bad the putting is compared to the tour. I know that’s a huge gap but I feel like I’ve seen maybe 2 or 3 made over 15 foot and a ton of missed 4 to 8 footers. Probably more missed 4 to 5 putts than made. That said their tee to green games are really good. They all seem very consistent off the tee and on approach. Great to see Texas win and do so well in so many sports.
  12. His defamation case in TX was remanded to state court with a green light to move forward last Friday and the one in CT should be remanded by the end of the week.

    Facing Nolan

They have a whole segment on that part

    Facing Nolan

I saw it a month or so ago at a screening they had here in Austin and loved it. Brought back a lot of memories. There are a ton of great interviews with old players. Dave Winfield, George Brett, a bunch of old astros. Nolan’s my all time favorite.
  15. I have carved out a niche representing injured plaintiffs in (typically large energy related) bankruptcies and it's rewarding but often frustrating work. We've had good luck protecting our clients' claims from the traps in the big reorg plans debtors are filing but it takes a ton of back and forth with biglaw br sections to reach an agreement (and, often times, just when you think you have a deal the carrier or PI club's lawyer will throw a wrench in the process with some crazy redline that guts the protection you've worked so hard to craft) but for the reasons discussed above it is risky to take it to the mat in br court. Throw in a springing maritime lien and you get a lot of funny looks from the adverse parties and the Court.
  16. At la cantera today and would like to get good puffy tacos / cheese enchiladas. Any suggestions for something relatively close?
  17. is today's game sold out? i'd think there were GA tickets left but i'm not seeing any on the website?
  18. big ask but would love for you to start a thread chronicling y'all's adventures and life up there. fascinating to all of us Texas folks.
  19. I drove by this morning on the way in to the office and it's bad -- most of roof and a few exterior walls completely collapsed.
  20. For the lawyers who have made the switch or know folks who have made the switch (from partner at a firm to in-house), is there a practice area that dominates? I'm not talking industry specific stuff, more commercial litigators vs. transactional lawyers. Transactional might seem like the most obvious candidates at first glance but I'd think a seasoned commercial litigator can add value from the risk assessment perspective (most have seen a ton of deals go sideways for a variety of reasons) and also have enough experience to issue spot and hire and coordinate with transactional lawyers to get deal docs drafted.
  21. I'm grew up in Lake Jackson and it had the only mall (the Brazos Mall) in the area. There was a pizza by the slice place called Giovanni's. There have been and are a million by the slice mall pizza shops and half of them are probably named Giovanni's and I'm sure if I tasted it today it wouldn't be that great but man we fucking loved that place growing up. I've tried to find the chain on the internet a few times with no luck. I would recognize the menu / script if I saw it. Anyone know of any Giovanni's mall pizza stands with beige / tan signage?
  22. did you make an appointment or just walk in? anyone know of any walk in locations in Austin for the Moderna booster?
