  1. Beeping is claimed to be a misconfiguration in comms systems causing that rhythmic sound through the speaker, but yeah ... "okay". Just watched the press conference, and my old co-worker tried to give a very politically-savvy and calm description of what must've been a dick-measuring contest between Boeing and NASA. I don't envy him that job, as it looks like the last month or so has aged him a decade at least. He looks really tired. Everything's on schedule for an undocking on Friday, Sept 6, just after 5pm CDT. They'll do a fairly conventional undock/separation profile that will allow Starliner to translate out in front of ISS quite a bit over the course of several orbits. This is a very safe and predictable trajectory ... presuming the thrusters fire correctly (fingers crossed). Even *if* the deorbit maneuver fails, Starliner will still continue to separate downrange from ISS, so from a trajectory standpoint, I'm good with this plan. See you Friday.
  2. If they look through the hatch and this chick is in there looking back... Don't open the hatch, regardless of what she is or isn't wearing.
  3. Not the best thing to hear... https://arstechnica.com/space/2024/09/starliners-speaker-began-emitting-strange-sonar-noises-on-saturday/
  4. Well this isn't great, Bob. https://arstechnica.com/space/2024/09/starliners-speaker-began-emitting-strange-sonar-noises-on-saturday/

  11. Villa left too many goal opportunities on the table. Arse did not. Fair victory to the Arse.
  12. I definitely appreciate the matter-of-fact response, and that's pretty much what I was thinking... I'm also looking for actual experiences (which I also got with the photos) and possibly recommendations on cruise lines or things to avoid. So I did appreciate the confirmation!
  13. *Thank you* for the photos - great shots and exactly what I was looking for... and yes, would not enjoy a stormy North Sea day on a smaller cruise ship.
  14. Yeah - that's my concern, too ... Mrs. Ramjet sees the "instaphotos" of everyone who's been there on the "best days" and thinks that's "every day". We've been incredibly fortunate over our decades of travel to amazing places that we've had spectacular weather. She's not really ever had to deal with crappy Wx days and how that impacts everything else. And, since this is *NOT* a cheap venture, it's something that has to be discussed up front as a possibility. Unfortunately, when you're on a cruise, it's not like there's a lot of options. I know - I'll find ways to enjoy it, even if it's rainy/cold, but yeah... just need to do some expectation management. I'll have to look to see if there are any photos out there of people who have posted some "not great" photos. Do you have any "good/bad" day comparison photos you'd like to share?
  15. This is one of the options that we're seriously considering right now - Havila Voyage North.
  16. Using the search feature, I saw a couple of posts here/there on road trips through Norway, but I didn't see anything about Norwegian cruises in and about the Fjords. Mrs. Ramjet's family background has a good bit of Norwegian in the lineage, so an expedition has been in the plans for some time now. We're getting serious about something in the summer of 2025, but there are a bunch of options to consider. Cruise line, ship size, whether the ship can get into the scenic areas, costs of shore excursions, number of stops, etc. I'm seeing that while some of the smaller ships do get you "more stops", those stops are often passenger/cargo stops for 15 minutes at 4:00am as the drop off transit/cargo and move on quickly. I'm not sure if that's something that will constantly interrupt sleep at 4 in the morning or if it's so quiet you'll never know it. Anyway - does anyone have any experience or recommendations they'd like to share about Norwegian cruises in July? There are the obvious "big boys" of Holland America, Norwegian Cruise Lines, and Royal Caribbean, but we're not all that interested in the "big Cruise ship" experience and overhead. There seem to be several smaller lines that keep coming up - Hurtigruten and Havila being two of the more popular/well-reviewed ones. Our goals are as much "oh my God" scenery/photo opportunities as possible, interactions with smaller villages/sites, and things perhaps off the tourist-trap paths. We're not that interested in big cities or overly-touristy places. Lots of constraints, I get it ... but any help/advice/things to look for or avoid would be greatly appreciated.
  17. Villa lock up Emi for five more years!
  18. The Boys from Boerne move on.
  19. Flow-ryda falling apart.
  20. Super smart base running to score from first for Boerne.
  21. Wrexham definitely chasing the match today against Bolton. Still scoreless at 30, but Bolton are showing that League One won't be the cakewalk the previous two seasons felt like for the boys from Wales.
  22. Should've been 3-1 or 4-1, but I'll take it.
