  1. Damn that's a serious setup.
  2. Watch out for that confounded bridge.
  3. Someone posted that they are now allowing a one time visit to grab essentials. Will go this afternoon to confirm.
  4. We're in Altadena. Smack in the middle of the devastation. But we were spared.
  5. It's brutal. We just heard two more families we know lost their homes. It's getting to the point where we know more people that lost their homes than didn't.
  6. The National Guard now roaming our streets and have cut all access to our neighborhood, whether on foot or not. We were able to walk in and do cleanup yesterday. No word on when utilities will be restored. Could be weeks. Or longer. Not sure what our plan is.
  7. I have more widespread options to donate, but these are dear friends of ours that lost their home. They were struggling a bit financially before this happened. Their daughter is my daughter’s longest childhood friend. Just one option, I have others for more broad help. <div class="gfm-embed" data-url="https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-rebuild-the-gokgoz-home/widget/large?sharesheet=fundraiser sticky footer&attribution_id=sl:4c081df0-4f0a-40a2-9185-2db25cf013a4"></div><script defer src="https://www.gofundme.com/static/js/embed.js"></script> I’ll figure this out when I get to a computer.
  8. I struggle with the magnitude of what has happened to our community. A neighbor sent me this. We will recover, but it may be a decade or more. MOV_9437.mov
  9. We’re staying at the hotel attached to the Pasadena Convention Center. They are at full capacity. They could use that stuff. Thanks for your efforts.
  10. Didn't see if this was posted, but this was pretty cool
  11. Nope. i just tried to get back to our house this morning and they have a hard closure just south of us. No residents allowed in. Apparently there were looters in our neighborhood last night. My next door neighbor confronted a van and asked if they lived there and they said no, they were just checking it out. He said they better check it out somewhere else and they left. But hearing reports of peoples homes being robbed. The only justice for that bullshit is swift execution. If you are caught with stolen property, immediate death.
  12. I don’t think so. It’s a bit west. New fire just broke out in the Hollywood Hills. Blowing up quickly
  13. Fuck that thing. I left a little bit ago as they cut water as well as power so nothing left for me to do. That link says our house is on fire. Just called my next door neighbor who’s still there and he said no, the house is fine. Whew. I’m completely emotionally and physically exhausted.
  14. Neighborhood is devastated. Looks like our house will survive. But many friends and neighbors lost their homes. My kids elementary school is gone. Our country club is gone. Neighborhood will never be the same.
  15. Defending my house with a hose. This is my street. Wind blowing away from our house.
  16. Fuck we’re right in the middle of that map. Goddammit.
  17. I really couldn’t care less. Houses within a block or two of mine are burning. I really don’t know if my neighborhood will exist. My house is 100 years old. I’m seriously stressed.
  18. No. It looks like the homes burning are along Altadena near New York. And Kinneloa Mesa. But the strongest winds are coming in a couple of hours and then it’s going to be a hellscape.
  19. Rick Caruso just roasting Karen Bass on the news for that
  20. It would have to burn thousands of structures. Maybe 10s of thousands. We’re fine. But fuck this shit. I can’t sleep.
  21. I have a lot of friends in that area
  22. OK so we’re good. At the Dena (old Sheraton) in Pasadena. The whole hotel is full of Altadenaeans and their animals. Shit is fucking crazy. We’ve got 2 cats and a dog in our room. Cats are out of their minds. Dog is tripping. But we’re all safe. I don’t think we’ll lose the house, but we might. The winds are going to be hurricane force in a couple of hours. Fire will explode. Houses in Altadena are burning. My nerves are fucking shot. All you smell miles downwind in Pasadena is smoke. This may end up being the worst fire event in SoCal history. Fuck. And the Bruins got smoked by Michigan at Pauley. When it rains it pours. Weird how surly can sometimes be my outlet. You fuckers were the first (besides my wife) that I told I had cancer. It’s like being on a couch.
  23. From my driveway. We're going now
