  1. I'm sitting in the waiting area if Pasadena's "School of Rock" which is a burgeoning music school in SoCal where kids learn to play music but mostly rock and or roll and my ADD daughter is responding to the drums in a seriously positive way.

See you there. I'll be the guy who, amongst Cal fans, is notably large, drunk, and as invested in football as any native Texan would be.

I'll be looking for your avatar.  Assuming she'll be with you.

So stupid. One combined win in the last 5 years? Real riveting. I’d rather see a DJ vs JT match.

Are you kidding me?  These guys are hall of famers.  Sure not in their prime, but both about at the same competitive stage in their relative careers.  I think it's fucking awesome.

  5. Oh hell yeah.  That'll be fun.

The much-anticipated one-on-one showdown between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson will take place in November at Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas, sources told ESPN's Mike Greenberg.

The event will be either Friday (Nov. 23) or Saturday (Nov. 24) of Thanksgiving weekend. The purse is still being determined, but it has been reported previously as a $10 million payout.

Woods, 42, and Mickelson, 48, are competing in this week's WGC-Bridgestone Invitational that begins Thursday at Firestone. They have been rivals dating back to their days in Southern California junior golf, but their relationship has evolved over the decades. At times, it has been strained, though it has softened in recent years as both players became heavily involved in the U.S. Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup efforts. They have also played many practice rounds together this year, including one on Wednesday at Firestone.

Golf.com reported last month that the two sides were in negotiations for a "winner take all'' match. In the piece, Mickelson said, "It's a ridiculous amount of money. No matter how much money you have, this amount will take both of us out of our comfort zone.''

Both make up the U.S. Ryder Cup committee along with 2018 captain Jim Furyk; Woods is a vice captain for Furyk and in contention for one of the four at-large picks. Mickelson is 10th in the team standings, with the top eight qualifying after next week's PGA Championship. This would be Mickelson's 12th consecutive U.S. Ryder Cup team.

The Ryder Cup is Sept. 28-30, and any match that takes place between Woods and Mickelson would not occur before then.

Am I in the minority that think he'll be on admin leave until the story dies in the press, then he will right back at it with a slap on the wrist?  I think he should be fired for cause.  The language in his contract is clear.  But the pessimist in me says the amount of money at stake here for the University makes me think they are just hunkering down to weather the storm.

Yes, you are.  Not saying it is right or wrong that he gets canned.  I just think in today's environment, it is almost inevitable.

I'm very interested to see if  Chip can get some production out of Soso. He hasn't done much so far.

I'm not holding out hope.  OL is suspect- again- and Soso just doesn't have the speed.  We've got a couple other backs who may slot ahead of him.  I'd like to see him catch passes either out of the backfield or split out wide.

Our strengths are go to be at WR/TE, and most of the D.  Fall camp starting now and we have no QB.  UM grad transfer Wilton Speight looks to be the likely candidate, but Devon Modster and true FR Dorian Thompson-Robinson will both push for it.  DTR is likely the heir apparent.

  8. Job posting hints at DC

A new D.C. job posting from Amazon could hint at the company's plan to open its second headquarters in the nation's capital.  Amazon is hiring a D.C.-based economic development manager, a job it has not posted in any other city, the Puget Sound Business Journal reports.  The job posting says Amazon is looking for someone with experience in economic incentives, which will likely play a major factor in its HQ2 project. It says the economic development manager would work directly with "state and community" officials, but makes no mention of the federal government, the focus of much of Amazon's existing D.C. workforce.  The role would involve new corporate initiatives, a site selection process and site expansion plans, the job posting says. It is seeking someone with at least eight years of economic development experience. The D.C. region has been widely viewed as a front-runner for Amazon HQ2 since the tech giant included three of the area's jurisdictions among its list of 20 finalists in January. D.C. submitted four sites for consideration in NoMa, Shaw, Hill East and along the Anacostia River. Virginia also put forward several sites in Arlington, Alexandria and Fairfax County. Montgomery Country reportedly submitted the White Flint Mall site.   Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, who bought a $23M house in D.C. and owns the Washington Post, is scheduled to speak at an Economic Club of Washington D.C. event Sept. 13, just past a year to the day from when it launched its HQ2 search.  With 50,000 jobs and 8M SF of offices on the line, Amazon-watchers have seized on everything from job postings to public appearances to web traffic to speculate about the company's intentions. In February, local news website ARLnow reported it received a spike in web traffic from an internal Amazon page on a months-old story about Arlington's environmentally friendly buildings. JDLand, a neighborhood blog for D.C.'s Capitol Riverfront, said Monday it received a small bump in traffic from Seattle on its site, and specifically on a page about The Yards' Parcel A, one of the sites included in D.C.'s riverfront bid.

Nationals will be kicking themselves when Harper leaves in the off season and they got nothing for it. Belief like Rizzo has can drive a man and front office insane.
