Tell that to the judge that let him off with $1000 in bail. She was appointed by Scott Walker, so you can probably figure out her political alignment, so you can go bitch about it in CR.

Thanks for bringing politics into my factual post about a tragic breaking story.

Just awful. The plastic barriers blocking the parade route clearly aren't enough for these kinds of events. Seems every year we have a few mass casualty events at festivals where some asshole with a truck runs through people. Hope they find all the human scum that did it and kill them on sight. Save everyone a lot of trouble.

Nice buck! He would be awesome with another year. As you say, not likely, but there’s a chance. Things have changed in many parts of Texas. I saw at least a half dozen bucks this weekend on our little low fence place that are bigger than anything I ever saw hunting the hill country in the 80s-early 2000’s; they would have been shot years before now. Antler restrictions, trail cameras, high fences, the internet, etc have all changed hunting society. Good luck

Add great range conditions to the variables.  Lots of rain the past two seasons.

  4. We just put this young buck on our "don't shoot" list on the Menard County place.  Maybe a 3-4 year-old with 15 points.  3 broken tines.  He's been scrapping.

He should be spectacular in a couple of years.

CHIEF Jr. is texting some chick in Vernon that lives in Seymour. He has about 3-4 lined up out here. I asked him what is the first question you ask them? His answer? “How Much land you got in your family?” I raised him right. A thousand acres raises a girl’s value a full point. A seven with 3000 acres is a ten. The gal from Seymour, he says, is a “butterface” but they have several thousand acres.

Definitely one of the bad life choices I made in college.  Just didn't appreciate how much prettier a girl with a ranch (or ranches) was.

Well we’ve listened to serious concerns from serious political leaders about gender pronouns regarding Mister Potato Head, the sexuality of Superman, the marital status of Murphy Brown, and now the ethnicity of Bert & Ernie.  And dozens more like this over the years.

I am opposed vehemently to ‘woke cancel culture’, but at least it involves real people.  I’m trying to understand why we’re politicizing toys, comic books, and puppets.  But here we are. Makes sense since Trump Biden is basically a puppet.

This is the brine I use.  I do it for 2 days.

    2 cups morton kosher salt
    2 cups sugar
    2 gallons water

That is about what I do, but I always add garlic powder, rough ground peppercorns, and bay leaves.

Do any of the Austin OGs remember that restaurant on Barton Springs next to Peter Pan called Treehouse or something like that? I swear I went there for like my 4th b-day one year and literally nobody remembers it. I'm starting to wonder if I imagined it.

As a kid, Bonanza and Pancho's were amazing.   A couple of years ago, we tracked down a Pancho's in Forth Worth, and I took my parents and sister there.  Just like old times.  The experience and the tastes were exactly as they had been 40 years ago.  Those chiles rellenos!

My freshman year in college, a group of guys on our floor had a Friday night free and decided to go to Steak and Ale.  We did our best to dress up and act like grown ups.  It cost us what we thought was a fortune.  Looking back, it was so goofy, but I remember that night so clearly.  It's a happy memory.  I wonder where those guys all are now.

We all thought that Steak & Ale was the ultimate back in HS/College days.  Had some friends that worked there and we all ate the leftovers they brought back for our late night drinking events.  Good times.

We took our kids to the Far West El Arroyo all the time when they were little.  But the last few years or so it went downhill in terms of quality and service.  Hope this place sticks around.

Same here.  That was our standard Sunday after church place to go with the kids.  Once the Winstanley's took the joint over and started serving cold, bagged chips with salsa that wasn't made on-site -- that location went into a death spiral.
