    Sad to hear.

I concur with the Heitmiller's assessment. But we travelers through Waco are not without hope.  There's still a Luby's open along I-35 in Waco that does CFS (although I'm on team fried liver), YMMV.

Now that you mentioned Chrysler I think they were the predecessor to L3 and it may have gone thru a couple of other name changes along the way that I don't remember.

General Dynamics way back when, then E-Systems for a while before the sale to Chrysler, IIRC.

My first car was a used 1960 MGA Roadster that looked just like this one. The coeds loved it.

Loved those (and the MGB's and Midgets) -- keeping them running was a lot of work.

Damn I loved that place downtown.  There was nothing better than waiting for your table over at the Brown Bar and then ordering the filet for dinner. The chocolate custard dessert was one of the best desserts I've ever had.

IIRC, different ownership groups in most of those Gumbo's stores.  Some sort of debris that resulted from a Fired Up, Inc. transaction?

Y’all are fucking worthless. I’m gonna stop adding to the bbq and burger joint threads because anytime I ask for a rec about something, no one has a worth a fuck recommendation.

so rather than hit up The Boiling Pot in Fulton, I tried SR Boil House in Rockport. I think it was better than the boiling pot. My wife was complaining the corn, potatoes and sausage were too spicy (she doesn’t like boiled crawfish). So that alone means at least we are on the right path. So good level of spice and flavor.

Here is the aftermath you worthless fucks.

That looks like the beginning of a great batch of seafood stock.

His departure was so abrupt it seemed like it was a serious team rules violation.  But he was damn good.

AUSTIN, Texas - Junior outfielder Cohl Walla (Austin/Lake Travis HS) has been dismissed from The University of Texas Baseball program for violation of team rules, head coach Augie Garrido announced today.

"We are extremely disappointed in the release of Cohl," Garrido said. "We see him as an exceptional athlete and it's disappointing that we didn't do more to help him stay focused in order to reach his full potential. We are proud of the fact that he is going to graduate from The University of Texas and will do everything in our power to help him sign a professional contract."

Walla, who made 91 starts in 116 career games at Texas, played in four games this season for the Longhorns, going 0-for-4 at the plate. He opened his Texas career in 2010 by earning Baseball America Freshman All-America second team honors after batting .316 with eight home runs and 40 RBI.

Dammit, anybody got a line on a good source for sacks in the Austin area?  HEB is at $4.50, Quality is $4.75.  Stuffed is $4.50 ($4.25 if I get three sacks or more).  I'm planning on boiling a coupla sacks next weekend, and will pay what I gotta pay....but was hoping to go sub $4.  Not looking great for that.

I know it's early season, they're smaller, and more expensive.  But, and this is important: I want some fucking crawfish now, and a lot of them.

You can never go wrong with Quality Seafood.  Money isn't everything...

Question on values. Are they going up at similar rates across the metro area?  Like even in Taylor, hutto, Elgin, or Bertram?  Trying to figure out where the best chance at increased equity stops.

If is was at a $300k price point, I'd look closely at Liberty Hill school district area.  183A toll road is gonna be extended past Hwy 29 pretty soon, making access to NW Austin a breeze.  New HEB (when it's open) is in process at Ronald Reagan and Hwy 29.  Tons of new subdivisions coming in at multiple price points.  LHISD bond election coming up for around $500 million for new HS, middle school, a couple of elementary schools, and expansion of all of the existing schools, expansion of the existing football stadium (to 10,000 capacity), and maybe another new stadium just like it.  Current total LHISD enrollment is around 6,000 students -- the middle case 10 year projection is 26,000 students.  I don't see how you could go wrong with a home purchase in that area.

Maybe they went old school and used high temp cheese that doesn’t really melt much.

Cheese doesn't belong in Texas BBQ sausage.  Some of the old school places would serve you a chunk of cheese to go along with your 'cue and crackers back in the day.

I dry heave when I think about El Arroyo. We wore the shit out of the Far West location when then kids were little.  It could be that we just got sick of the place, but I really think the once averagely decent food stated going waaaaay down hill during the last five or so years of its existence.

El Arroyo cratered once Clay sold it to the Winstanley's.  We always went to Far West location with the kids, too.  Once the ownership changed, the chips weren't made on site and they served bagged, cold chips along with salsa that was no longer made on site.  The menu also changed and the food got bad.  The service got worse, too, as the cute college-girl type servers ended up heading to greener pastures.  RIP to a fun memory.
