I stopped at Inman's BBQ while I was in Llano a few months ago and it was half decent. If Rudy's is the bar for tasty mediocrity it was about even, maybe slightly above.
Turkey sausage is what Inman's does best. Last time I was there, the ribs and brisket were under-cooked/not rendered enough. Took home a couple of pounds of turkey sausage to finish on my smoker at home. Great stuff.

Interesting...what kind of speeds are we talking? I would need at least 50-100 mbps download and 10-20 upload. Are you in that range?I get nothing like those speeds even from my direct connect at my pied-a-terre in Downtown Dallas. Comcast is ISP. Good luck.

Live wherever you want, but stay away from satellite internet. Expensive and unreliable.
Check out Wireless Digital Subscriber Line service providers. It is a radio link from your home to a terrestrial ISP data source. In our case we have a 50 ft tall tower (we had to get above some big trees) that has a radio receiver that bounces off of a transmitter located on a water tower a couple of miles from us. It is broadband fast, very reliable, and costs around $150 a month for a pretty robust download/upload capacity subscription. We probably dropped around $600-ish on the initial tower/installation. Totally worth it.

Interesting thread. I've seen pieces that cite the Code of Hammurabi as the origin of this doctrine:

Welp, nothing we liked in Texas had any availability for our dates (admittedly, we are booking last minute). So flying to Memphis and staying at the Peabody Hotel for 2 nights. Let's test these vaccines out!
Enjoy the ducks (and hopefully, some sexy time) at the Peabody. Say hello to Elvis at Graceland.

Tried to research it, but couldn't find anything. Is this place owned by Joe, or is it just the name?
IDK if he has any ownership -- Joe King's website has a link to it.

I confess that I am not doing a very good job of mentoring younger folks these days. That said -- most of the mentoring that I received when I was a greenhorn didn't happen in the office -- it was over drinks after hours in the evening. Once the senior partners learned that I could hang with them and knew some shit, they started trusting me with more important client relationships.
-
I'm in the professional services space. I control my client relationships and haven't needed to do office "facetime" for the last 20 years or so. In fact, when I was on deadline or deep into a client project Pre-Covid, I'd get a hotel room to work in so that I could focus on the client deliverable without office interruptions. Not having to make excuses for going dark for days at a time has been a great thing. I'm gonna be taking a hard look at our office lease commitments as the renewals start coming up.

Maybe a bit rustic for your bride's taste, but just a short drive to Horseshoe Bay spas --

That looks like it was a very nicely preserved ride before you chose to take MoPac that day. Once you blow the airbags, you are perilously close to the "total" zone. RIP, T&P.

Anybody seen any Asian homeless folks around Austin? In my unscientific observations, they appear to be underrepresented. Are they being systemically excluded from "Austin's Homeless Strategy" http://www.austintexas.gov/page/austins-homeless-strategy solely based upon race?

It would be way cooler if there were fewer ad hominem arguments and many more substantive arguments made on this site.

62 here. I've long been of the opinion that you only have so many heartbeats allotted to you in a lifetime.
No sense in wasting them on stupid stuff like running and exercise.
YMMV.

Fajitas (all types) are boring and overrated.
I'm on team enchiladas con huevos, pork tamales with gravy, chilles rellenos, and cabrito when in Tex-Mex land.

Well, that's just the way the good lord made it. Some of us just like it warmed up a bit.

Don't tear the gift wrap paper -- gently pull it off and it can be reused.
Don't tear the aluminum foil -- gently pull it off and it can be cleaned and reused.

Speaking as someone who was a real knucklehead in my late teens and early 20's -- voting eligibility should begin at either age 25 or when the the citizen becomes a property owner with something actually at stake -- whichever comes first.

I also love the uniformed talk against the long-standing step-up in basis doctrine. It's simply a way to make the IRS your family's business partner due to the impact of inflation over a person's lifetime.

And what's so sacrosanct about $50MM? Why not start the tax at $5MM or $10MM? Those folks are way richer than most people. They can probably afford to pay more, amirite?

The compliance and enforcement aspects of this ill-conceived plan (were it to ever become law) would be a bonanza for accountants, lawyers, and business valuation professionals. Do it!

RIP to a great bar. Dirt is just too expensive/valuable in Uptown these days.
