Regarding "25 or 6 to 4":  George Harrison ("While My Guitar Gently Weeps") and Led Zeppelin ("Babe I'm Gonna Leave You") have a thing or two to say about that.  But, it's a riff, not a sound, so judge's ruling is "acceptable".

I get the controversy about the 25 or 6 to 4 riff.  More importantly, listen closely to Terry Kath on that original recording.  He starts it off with some jazz/rock strumming then does other-worldly solos throughout the rest of the song.  He absolutely drives that song.

    In summary. Fuck Pinnacle Propane.

This.  They screwed the pooch with us this past April (after cold weather was over, of course, when the propane would just end up sitting in our tank until fall/winter) and filled our tank to the brim with propane at $1.25/gal above the EIA market price and $0.95/gal above their prior delivery price in early fall 2019 -- all in a period when market propane prices had been trending down.  When I questioned their pricing -- they said "corporate makes those decisions" -- so I made the decision to fire them.  I'm now getting deliveries from a new company at around the EIA market price.

I'm ditching the Keurig, looking for recs for coffee makers and coffee. I stayed at a bnb last week and their drip coffee maker was much better than a keurig.

Browsing $30 mr coffee's on amazon.

recommend some coffee types too. thanks

Electric kettle, coffee grinder, French Press.  Nothing better.  Coffee types?  I'm a fan of Pete's french roast whole beans.

I think it's a little more subtle than that, but maybe not.  The patent system, particularly the courts, went a little overboard with software and biotech and has been in full retreat for about a decade.  Mostly because they didn't understand what they were doing, either time, particularly the courts.

Ultimately, as the name indicates, IP is just another form of property right.  Property rights are mostly neutral, but they do tend to favor those with property and the wealthy have a lot of property.

Perhaps, but Bill Gates may have been somewhat privileged due to his family upbringing, etc., but was certainly not wealthy before he and his compadres developed the (intellectual) property that made them all wealthy.  Would you advocate that folks other than the creators should reap the rewards of their efforts?

So what's the deal with that, anyway?

    Is it just evangelicalism Texanized?

  7. That upper Keys area was really hammered by a hurricane a couple of years ago, but it seems to be coming back with lots of new construction.  Was there last in the Spring of 2019 and we stayed at a basic internet rental condo on the gulf side of Key Largo (nice beaches and pretty water on that side) for a couple of nights before heading on down to the Key West bacchanalia.

Snorkeling tours at the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park off of Key Largo are a really good time.  Can't recall which outfitter we used, but it was a half-day trip in the afternoon.  Skipper's Dockside in Key Largo is a fun restaurant with outdoor seating on a boat harbor, so lots of boat activity to watch, if you like that sort of thing.  I don't think I ate anything besides calamari, ceviche, and conch the last time I was down that way -- and I regret none of it!

  8. That MLB 2nd base rule is chickenshit.  That makes as much sense as giving the batters an extra strike, or narrowing the strike zone, or letting the runners go on a fly ball when a game goes past 9 innings.  In other words, just stop playing the game of baseball once you get to extra innings -- just to keep errbody safe.

It wasn't much of a secret from about 2001 until the patent venue change in 2017.

Perhaps the name of this thread needs to be changed to "Waco, Texas" pretty soon?

  10. Herrera's on Sylvan across the river from downtown Dallas still kicks ass.  That is my standard for good, basic Tex-Mex. Love their menudo on weekends.  Maybe a bowl of that along with a barbacoa or lengua taco?  Perfecto.

P.S. Just realized that the Sylvan location is the 4th iteration of this restaurant that I've enjoyed.  The first was at the gas station that is now the Grapevine Bar on Maple.  Then two more Maple locations, and now the Sylvan location across the river.  I'd be hard-pressed to think of many places that have survived that many relocations.

So did this end up being true? The WH said to stop trades?

Also, Yellen was paid 800k+ by Citadel. Does anyone see a conflict of interest here? Even CNN had concerns about her receiving millions from the banks she now regulates.

C'mon, man. She's the first Treasury Secretary that identifies as a female!
