We've had one of these forever and use it all the time. Great for smoking salmon with alder wood, pork tenderloins with pecan, making all kinds of smoked cheeses, enchiladas and even potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots and other veggies.

But as for the Trulucks? Always thought it was overrated and haven't been in years.
Truluck's happy hour is a good deal. 1/2 price drinks and food specials 4:30 - 6:30 M-F. Fun crowd.

I still have an unobstructed view of the Capitol from there.
Capitol Center knocked out a lot of the views from that building. I didn't start my career in the corner office!

Hope I live long enough to see all those completed. Amazing changes from 60 years ago.
Ditto. Amazing changes from just 35 years ago. That was when I first had a high-rise office in the First City Bank building at 9th & Congress. Unobstructed view of the Capitol from there back then.

Assuming that's the case. Philip Kingston said Truluck's will be closing and I didn't get the impression they would be involved with the new development.
Don't have any inside info, but this is the statement of Truluck's management as posted in a DMN article that was updated for this statement the day after its initial publication:
“We are aware of this as a transaction being negotiated with our current landlord," David Tripoli, Chief Operating Officer, Truluck’s said in a statement. “We have 20 plus years remaining on our ground lease and look forward to continuing to serve the community in Uptown.”

Apparently, Truluck's in Uptown will be closing to make way for another Trammell Crow development.
Their new building is what, 5 years old? I'd heard that Truluck's has a long-term land lease. Perhaps they are getting bought out of it or are gonna get it rolled up into the new development?

The tall towers just keep coming:
The Brazos Hall event venue at the northeast corner of East Fourth and Brazos Streets, an early-1900s warehouse that could potentially be demolished for a tower project depending on the results of a historic preservation review by the city. The 1999 office structure seen on the right side of the image will not require review, and will also be demolished for the new tower’s construction. On the left side of the image, you’ll notice a crane for the Fifth & Brazos hotel and apartment project. Image: GarzaEMC

Thanks for the PxP, Surly. Hook 'em!

I don't know what the (other) Gringo's eat there, but in my experience, Mi Tierra has always had outstanding menudo and barbacoa. Fun atmosphere is a plus.

It happened when the NIMBY Bouldin Creek Neighborhood Association, backed by the ANC and Austin City Council, forced the Austin Aqua Festival to abandon the 10 night format and go to weekends only. Weekend talent is more expensive and there is more competition for entertainment dollars on weekends. Aqua Festival was bankrupt a couple of years after that. Lets hear it for the soulless successors, SXSW, C3 Productions, and ACL Festival!

Guys, enough with the jokes. OP made a simple mistake. BTW, do y'all have any recommendations for Spring Break vacations within driving distance from Austin? Not Big Bend.
Will you be driving a Tesla?

The illustration is good but he completely fucked up the crust on that good looking brisket. WTF?!
So much wrong in that video. Trim the outside fat. Never separate the point. Read Franklin's Barbecue Manifesto for important details.

Use this for your training video for the cutters.
That is a sad video.

Many middle manager roles are no longer needed in many cases. Think about a manufacturing company that accepts custom orders from customers. A few decades ago, that would take design, accounting, planning, and operation managers all putting their heads together to cost, schedule and manage the build. While I know that work still occurs, you have 1-2 specialists that know how to input the data into the an ERP that spits out that info within seconds.

Demo it and go to your nearest Lowe's Home Improvement Store for a new one.

My point is our reliance on fossil fuels will come to an end at some point. Will leave the answer up to Elon and other geniuses like him...but the kids on a fucking roll.
Oh, yeah. I've been hearing about "peak oil" being only 20 years away for most of my life.

The future will be electric/non-fossil-fueled vehicles.
So, where is all this electricity going to come from? Non-fossil fuels? Really? I don't get this aspect of the TSLA story.

Won't they also tack on a failure to pay penalty?
Perhaps, but still it's a pretty painless way to deal with it. Ask the IRS for 48 monthly installments at 3% and you'll never know the difference.

Anyone still thinking about shorting TSLA?
Not shorting, but I still think there is some shady stuff happening there. Channel stuffing, revenue recognition, deferred expenses, etc. Something just doesn't seem right about that company... Time will tell.

I hope it doesn't put Big Al's out of business. That place has been there forever and we've always had a good (food) experience when eating there.
Pretty sure that Big Al's and Heim are focused on different audiences. Big Al's pork rib basket special, $11.50 for ribs and 2 sides (or a baked potato), served on Tuesday and Saturday only, is a steal. C-Man and I have long "agreed to disagree" about Big Al's!

F*** Casar and the COA. I'm sure that the new train RFP from the COA Parks Department will be giving bonus points to solar-powered or other "environmentally sustainable" approaches to the train route. Perhaps a gender-neutral pedal-powered "train" that includes homeless accommodations will emerge as the preferred solution?

I bought more LUV today. Not that much foreign exposure, oil prices down and a solid dividend history. What's not to like?
