  1. I was a kid at Burnet Jr. High when all that came down. The kids that were bussed in were understandably pissed -- there were lots of fights and lunch money shakedowns. OTOH, Burnet won the Jr. HS district football championship in 1972, and the new Anderson won the HS district football championship in 1976!
  2. Hey there, newcomer. You were late to the party. Dell was pretty well established as PC's Limited in 1984/85. Sematech announcing Austin as their destination in 1987 was a pretty big deal, as was IBM establishing a major location in north Austin in 1966. It ain't just one thing.
  3. Too Smooth, of course!

  5. That's got to be Sam's Bar-B-Que, https://www.yelp.com/biz/sams-bar-b-que-austin
  6. I went by the Pit in Georgetown on Williams Drive the other day and their chopped beef sandwich special on the billboard was 5 for $19.95! My dear deceased Mom would have had a fit!
  7. Also a Fighting Anderson Trojan Band member here -- from the inaugural 1973 season!
  8. Thanks for the additional info. I may know you IRL. Were you involved in Aqua Festival?
  9. And thanks for all the curbs and sidewalks in Central Austin!
  10. Love Deckhands. They are now bottling and selling their green sauce. Greatness!
  11. Richard Jones Pit Barbecue used to be a thing. Fifth Street, South Congress, Burnet Road, Georgetown, Cameron Road -- I'm sure that I am missing some locations.
  12. We have been surprised/pleased to see fewer pigs at our place in Schleicher County. The deer and turkey look good thus far as we've been doing lots of protein, never turned off the corn, and they had decent rain through June. Here's to hoping.
  13. Rice always plays us tough. Fred Akers said that, I think?
  14. Fuck this. I'm totally over it. Live your life.
  15. Projection doesn't only happen in movie theaters.
  16. Shopped at Twin's Dollar Days earlier. Not out of hand yet -- just a couple of fingers of bourbon so far.
  17. All of our guns are always loaded and are treated as such. They are rather useless when they are not loaded.
  18. No fun, Brat. Hope errything comes out OK! I know that I'm gonna be in good shape tomorrow because I had a big bowl of spicy menudo for breakfast this morning! Edit -- I'd forgotten about this King of the Hill episode: https://kingofthehill.fandom.com/wiki/Hank's_Unmentionable_Problem#:~:text=Everett Koop-,Trivia,where he discovers that Dr.
  19. That's where I'm coming from. Cell is really spotty out at our place, plus fucking around on a cell phone with bloody hands is less than ideal. I hadn't even thought about the GPS and privacy considerations. Hard pass.
  20. Thanks for the reminder. I just renewed mine online. I'm still a Luddite at heart, though. I asked them to send me a paper license. I don't trust those new-fangled digital tags.
  21. I'd not heard of them before. Great website. Hope that they cook as good as all of that looks!
  22. Let's not overlook the Anderson Trojans shellacking the McCallum Knights 42-0 in the Taco Shack Bowl last night. Texas (baseball) signee Ed Small was the key player for the Trojans in their victory. Anderson scores early and often, runs away with 42-0 Taco Shack Bowl win over McCallum https://www.kxan.com/sports-general/high-school-sports/for-all-the-tortillas-anderson-mccallum-clash-in-22nd-annual-taco-shack-bowl/
  23. Good to be in Austin and to have that dilemma! Those would both be good choices.
