  1. Tell us that you've never bought a company, without telling us ... It would be a very odd company that just has an extra $1 MM in cash to "pull out" after the transaction. Cash and receivables are often either excluded from a sale or there is an agreed-upon working capital target, with dollar for dollar adjustments to the buyer or seller depending upon whether the target was missed or exceeded. This does not apply if you want to buy multiple small insurance companies and pull money out of them to impress your girlfriends, but then you might have to change your address and wear odd clothing for a long time: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Frankel
  2. “Why aren't we flying? Because getting there is half the fun. You know that.”
  3. The only problem with the Craig Way call is that you can still hear BBQ Bob in the background noise.
  4. They eventually all sync at the end of the game. Def worth it to avoid Galindo's call altogether.
  5. Seems rather classic to me, style wise, but YMMV. Both years have Bluetooth connectivity, satellite services and such. No backup camera or auto assist driving stuff. I'm OK with that. Just a great road car that has given me lots of miles over the years.
  6. I'm gonna keep on buying pristine used black 2008-2009 MB E350s at under 50k miles for the rest of my life if I can find them. Two so far. Seriously great model of a car.
  7. Cold chips out a bag and crappy salsa, both likely straight from the Sysco truck. Hard to overcome that. Sad. I used to love that place in the Doug English and Clay McPhail, et al. era.
  8. This is why I have always appreciated the CarMax business model. They segregate the three business transactions. The sale of your trade-in The purchase of a car The financing (if any) of said car Traditional car dealers blur all of that shit up.
  9. True Texans never complain about getting rain.
  10. Wow. With a bit of PE money, the Winstanley's plan to expand their footprint of suckage! El Arroyo, Austin restaurant famous for funny signs, is expanding across Texas The home of the iconic marquee sign will open multiple locations in the state in the next few years. https://www.mysanantonio.com/food/article/el-arroyo-austin-new-locations-17405032.php
  11. RIP to a badass naval aviator. Reportedly the only pilot who shot down both Japanese and German planes in WWII. https://www.legacy.com/news/celebrity-deaths/dean-diz-laird-1921-2022-world-war-ii-flying-ace/
  12. Doesn't seem like flyover country is embracing EV's much.
  13. A comment re: Parisa joints from the Steel Shank thread that has stood the test of time.
  14. Any calls on Teams. The end.
  15. I hit the newish (maybe 9 months?) North Deckhand location to sit at the bar and watch the Nebraska-Northwestern game this afternoon (poor Huskers!). Good place. Much larger store and it has a better bar/sports bar vibe than the previous converted Dairy Queen/Taco Bell location (just around the block from prior location off of 45 in Round Rock.) Had a big Jellyfish IPA and an order of Salt & Pepper Calamari. The squeeze bottle of hot sauce they serve with it was kick-ass. I would have been fine with the hot sauce and a bowl of chips! Carry on.
  16. Indeed. One program was passed by Congress. The other one (checks notes) was proposed by executive decree due to the (checks notes) continuing threat of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  17. Nice. Right across the cemetery from the big AA complex and just down the street from where Madalyn Murray O'Hair's Atheist HQ was. Lots of deep thinking going on in that hood.
