dickies and bill miller's are top 3 for iced tea, no fucking doubt. also, bill miller tacos are damn good

Dickie's free soft-serve ice cream FTW.  Bill Miller's fried chicken is also worthy.  BBQ?, not so much for either chain.

The other game changer is to pan fry the sausage first. Another poster suggested it. They were correct.

Roux made with sausage fat and lard is just about as good as it gets.

  3. Just a quick overnight out there on Saturday to deliver some equipment.  I'll spend the rest of the day screwing around with feeders and such.  Then it will be college football, bourbon and grilling steaks.  Looking forward to enjoying some low 40's temps on Sunday morning.  This is the best time of year in Texas.

Coopers is only in business because of the name. If they were called Smith's they would have gone out of business years ago

It isn't that difficult.  They have all of the infrastructure set up, good smoke, fully rendered meats. It just seems that they have forgotten that when it comes to barbecue rub, Black pepper > Kosher salt.

Another one that should be off the list? Coopers in Llano.

Agree on Coopers.  The last several times I've had brisket from there it was so oversalted as to be almost inedible.

Very satisfied with the commitment to Carne Guisada in this thread. The official meal of Tejanos for generations. Salute, gentlemen.

Also, anybody got a recommendation in Austin? I've had Cisco's, and it was decent but the tortillas just aint' dusty enough like in SA.

    Joe's Bakery on East 7th.

Good to meet you tonight, notwithstanding your upbringing and (alleged) education.

Can someone go to home Depot and buy flag pole gromet latch things. The printer didn't make the flags with pole pockets and we only have gromets

    Something like this

I have some Velcro strips like you use in a server setup that I'll bring.  They might do the trick.

Most sane, rational people would talk shit early on, but cave in if their kid really wanted to go to cultU. aggy parents on the other hand are dead serious..aggy or nothing.

My daughter ended up going to CultU, but I am proud to say that she was the ultimate 2 percenter -- she thought all of the aggy turditions were really stupid.  I also had my horns up when they played that ghastly aggy song at the convocation -- and I wasn't the only one doing that!
