You may have caught them on a bad night. My impression was that they started strong, had the usual opening issues, corrected them. They then had a bit of a lull. COVID hit hard of course. But, in the past 6 months they have improved again. And they do have Tsing Tao beer. They have gotten the online orders wrong on more than one occasion with me. But even still ... I don't like "Round Eye" Asian places... Pei Wei, Panda Express, etc. If I have the time, I will still go to little Chinatown on Greenville Avenue in Richardson. I particularly like Jeng Chi.

Well shit. I was beginning to get pretty pumped at the thought of the 2024 Big 12/SEC basketball challenge. No doubt... I mean no doubt at all that Texas would be scheduled against Ole Miss in Austin. The signs alone would have been epic. BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ... ESPN did not renew the series. It is over. And the SEC is starting an SEC/ACC bball challenge. Fuck a duck.

Wait a second! That "Hillary Clinton-esque Fatted Calf" is from Designated Girl No. 8???? Not Designated Girl 16???? WTF?!!?

WTF! You got some sharp eyes there. That's like picking out the hand holding the knife in DaVinci's "Last Supper" painting.

What would it take for Rodney Terry to earn the job?
Lidig8r replied to HookEm's topic in Basketball
Ok, so would it actually be "firing" him? The "interim" label was never removed from his job description. In any event, USA Today had a damn good article about this situation. Happy reading boys. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/columnist/dan-wolken/2023/03/10/texas-college-basketball-awkward-interim-coach-rodney-terry-chris-beard/11446297002/ -
Boys, I was doing some research on Oklahoma laws regarding physicians, suicide, etc and came across this little nugget. This is the current law in Oglaucoma. If any person shall utter or speak any obscene or lascivious language or word in any public place, or in the presence of females, or in the presence of children under ten (10) years of age, he shall be liable to a fine of not more than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00), or imprisonment for not more than thirty (30) days, or both. Okla. Stat. tit. 21 § 906

When I played high school football, the head coach would occasionally yell out, "OK, I WANT THE FIRST TEAM ON FIELD 1 ! THE SECOND TEAM ON FIELD B ! THE "ROYS" STAY HERE! I asked a player what the hell a "ROY" is. He said, "Rest of Y'all." It sure seems like Red Bull is the first team and everyone else is a ROY this year. Best entertainment looks to come from watching who will slide into the number 2 place as Verstopthem and Red Bull have the titles wrapped up before the summer break.

Fascinating ... at least for me. This almost 10 minute video goes into the mental health of F1 drivers and specifically ... Valtteri Bottas, who opens up about his eating disorder from years ago.

Yup... up on Youtube.

In my younger years, I had a bit of a cavalierly loose interpretation of my own morality. Having said that, I have seen THAT look in women's eyes before. YOU WERE SWINGERS!!!! Brat... you Magnificent Bastard you!

(TL/DR crew ... so, Lid gets impaired and snaps at Mi Cocina, yells at his SO and a trusted friend, walks home while dressed in his suit and feels great angst because one idiot doctor is stupid enough to say that Terminal Anorexia exists and that she was complicit in at least 2 of her patients' death.) So, sometimes you just snap. Last year an idiot doctor in Denver had an article published in an academic journal trying to establish that "Terminal Anorexia." is a thing. The entire industry is strongly opposed to that theory. The thing is ... it is not just a theory. In her article, she references 3 patients. With 2 of them she prescribed the Medical Aid In Dying drugs. 1 of her patients took the drugs and died. Now, I get it. Death is a thing with me. For most, death is an abstract concept. It is what happens to everyone else ... until it doesn't. So, I am on the warpath against Dr. Death. I reached out to a number of organizations and treatment providers, referred to her as such, etc. She made the mistake of retaining an attorney who sent me a little 2 page letter ... basically, stop "defaming" my client, I've crossed the line, etc. etc. I replied with an 11 page essay along with an extensive document going into all of my advocacy work. They go radio silent. So, I find out that she has obtained licenses or tele-medicine licenses in 46 states .... 16 of which have criminal laws against assisted suicide. And so, beginning last week, i started filing medical complaints. One a week until all 16 states have been contacted. Well, I was not aware that i was a ticking time bomb. Last night at Mi Cocina, am having drinks and food with the SO and Dr. Stephanie Setliff. Stephanie is perhaps the best eating disorder doc in the state, has become a trusted friend and is pretty hot. The conversation turns to anorexia and death, I start asking why no one is going after Dr. Death except for me ... and the next thing I know, I turn into this foaming at the mouth, yelling, mad man. I storm out of MiCo. Go next door to the Tom Thumb, buy toilet paper and one big can of Shiner Bock ... and start to walk home. Now, imagine an elder gentleman, slightly impaired, dressed in a bespoke suit, walking down Frankford Road at 10:00 at night, a grocery bag filled with toilet paper in one hand, and a beer in the other... mumbling, distraught. Well, I make it home before the SO. (We live around Campbell and Preston Road). I pound some bourbon. Pass out. Wake up today. Make my amends to the SO and Stephanie. And file another complaint against Dr. Death. The point is ... you never know how close to the edge you really are. Just when you think you have your emotions under control, your anguish at bay .. one small thing can push you over the edge. So, I will make an appointment with a therapist in the next week to get my three times a year check up. Then, pick up the sword and shield and go back to war.

No more fungus on the shower shoes. Good for him. -
Just please, please, please ... do NOT have us go down the path of SEC Cupcake Non-conference opponent to build up the won loss record. Since aggy moved to the SEC, these are the cupcakes they played: 2012 - South Carolina State 2013 - Sam Houston State 2014 - Lamar 2015 - Ball State 2016 - Prairie View A&M 2017 - Nichols State 2018 - Northwestern State 2019 - Texas State 2020 - The Vid 2021 - Kent State 2022 - Sam Houston State 2022 - Appalachian State (ooops) A top university should be embarrassed to subject its alums and fans to that shitastic display.

Being a grandfather can be a life enrichening experience. In this case, you have the luxury of saying, "Screw the past! I am my own man." My grand kids get to call me some fun, screwy name. "Poppi" in my case. I urge you to go to your pregnant daughter and with love in your heart, be authentic, be honest. Feel free to say, "I know I made mistakes as a dad but you are an incredible person. You are bringing an incredible gift into the world. And, I want to be there as my grandparents were not." As they get older, teach your grandbaby how to fish, or go to movies with him/her, color with them. Give yourself permission to be silly. To laugh. To love. There is no right way or wrong way. There is just ... your way. Be your authentic self. And never forget that the most powerful things we can say as a daddy, as a grandfather are, "I am sorry." and "I love you." And make no mistake, you are about to encounter a seemingly absolute truth which happens to most people. And that is, young parents discover how incredibly smart, how wise THEIR parents are when they first have children. You want to do something tangible right now. After young Beauregard Aloyisius III is born, start a college fund, or buy some Disney stock for them. In that way, you are doing something tangible, you are showing your love in a concrete way. I hope you get to experience the incredible joy, the incredible love that many grandparents feel. Be yourself. Learn to forgive yourself. And laugh and love every day.

Your first exposure to the "Militant Fat Activist" counselor. To REALLY get her on a rant, tell her that you believe HAES is full of crap and has no substance at all and that BMI is a perfectly acceptable way to ascertain whether a person is healthy. She will go on an incredible hour long rant, will forget what you two are there to see her for and you get entertained. What is not to like?
-
Do not, do not DO NOT wait to find an experienced counselor who you connect with. There are so many charlatans out there who list certain types of expertise but do not have that expertise. When you have your introductory session, be sure to ask all of the questions you want to ask. And do NOT accept anything other than a direct response. Ask about their direct experience addressing the issues you are going through now and may go through in the future. Nothing should be off limits. Also, be wary of any counselor who immediately refer you to a psychiatrist or mental health professional who recommends pharmaceuticals from the get go. Often times, those professionals have contracts with those pharma companies. Squeeze as much time with him as possible. And know that he will always be with you. As a parent, our legacies are not defined by the lawsuits we win or the business deals we make ... but with our loving children who make the world a better place than what it was when we first came into it.

So, when "The Vid" began to hit the US hard (as an aside, the first case of The Vid was diagnosed in the US three years ago on this date), a smaller client began to wind up its operations to close its office. Since I had been their mouthpiece for a number of years, their CEO offered me their coffee maker. I'm not much of a coffee drinker (for some reason, I don't need caffeine to wake up) But, naturally, I said sure, why not? Brought it home, set it up and just for grins, looked it up on the Interwebz... and found ... $3000.00 !!!! It basically does everything but give an early morning hummer! And for my fellow Dallasites, if your machine whatever it is needs repair work, the folks at Espresso RMI on Vantage just off of HellBJ do a great job. coffee.pdf

I have observed so many people in your place in the mental health field the last three (3) years. And this at a time when we need even more competent and able mental health professionals. Overworked. Under-appreciated. Derided at times. Seeing only the fractured souls. I have no great words of wisdom here at all. And yet, I can't help but wonder how many lives you have saved that you do not know about? How much sickness, anguish and pain have you prevented through your dedication and commitment? How many sons and daughters have you spared the agonizing pain of seeing their parent get incredibly sick ... or die because of your work? How many parents have you spared the indescribable permanent grief that comes watching their child die in their arms? How many people in the future will find their soulmate, or who may invent something that gives such substance to life because at this difficult time in the world, you were there for them? To so many people, including me, YOU are the greatest hero possible! Unacknowledged. Unappreciated. Down trodden. Working in the shadows. I hope you find that one lone candle in a room of darkness. And that it continues to guide you on a path of light, of love.

CFP National Championship Game: #1 Georgia vs #3 TCU.
Lidig8r replied to FartingDreamer's topic in Football
Certainly, Georgia should be congratulated for a great 2022 season. In fact, with regard to Georgia, I have a special place in my heart ... or, a place about 15 inches lower because of a young lady, a Georgia coed at the time, with whom I enjoyed certain lascivious delights decades ago. [Imagine, pubic hair trimmed into a heart shape and dyed pink for Valentine's Day]. Ah, but I digress. Non-conference games is a topic that you should probably steer clear of since Georgia's murderous non-con 2023 schedule consists of the following: University of Tennessee Martin (are they called the Deans by any chance); Ball State (they should be called the fighting testicles); UAB (The Fighting Targaryens?), and; Georgia Tech (who has one of the best fight songs). Now yes, in 2024, Georgia does have Clempson, 2025 at UCLA. Hopefully, with the addition of Texas and BlowU to the SEC, the powderpuff opponent in November will be replaced with a conference game. -
Loro is now open at Montfort and Belt Line Road just east of the Tollway. The smoked salmon dip is a great starter with just the right amount of kick to it. On Sunday and Monday they have smoked baby back Duroc pork ribs. I went home and slapped a picture of my mama that night. The word has not spread too much about it yet so the crowds are not bad. And the SO has her jewelry boutique about 300 yards away on Montfort on the pond. Try it out gents.

Soooooo.... I have had 64 revolutions around the sun. BUT ... mentally I am about 35 years old. Emotionally, I am about 12 years old. Never broken a bone. No surgeries. One night in the hospital about 12 years ago for diverticulitis. No prescription drugs of any kind in over 10 years. I have had Life Line Screening done on 2 occasions. No blockage to speak of and circulation is great. Am I lucky? Am I blessed? I don't feel like it. The emotional aspect of grief is always lurking beneath the surface and sometimes, it breaks through for all to see. In the meantime, I still have too much to do. I can't imagine living with physical pain that a number of you go through every day. Keep fighting the fight! Your loved ones need you.
