  1. From Emerson, Lake & Palmer's "Pirates" "Now open wide sweet Heaven's gates Tonight we're gonna see if Heaven burns Ooh, see how she burns... Oh she burns I want an angel on a gold chain And I'll ride her to the stars It's the last time for a long long time Come the daybreak, we embark..." On the flood of the morning tide Once more the ocean cried "This company will return one day Though we feel your tears it's the price we pay For there's prizes to be taken and glory to be found Cut free the chains make fast your souls We are El Dorado bound... I will take you for always forever together Until hell calls our names..." "Who'll drink a toast with me To the devil and the deep blue sea? Gold drives a man... to dream!"
  2. There are two other possibilities we may need to consider ... 1. That Beard, his wife and/or Mistress are into the S&M, B&D lifestyle. And after trussing up his wife and/or girlfriend like a Thanksgiving turkey, he was restricting their airflow to increase the intensity of their orgasm, or; 2. Maybe... and just work with me here... maybe, a certain male appendage is so HUGE, that during casual sexual play, that appendage was placed in her oral cavity too deeply and aggressively. NAH... He's toast on a stick. I will be the engineer on the "Rush to Judgment" train. He needs to be gone as in ... now.
  3. After all of these years, I still lurvs me this theme. I have this movie on videotape and DVD.
  4. Beef and bean nachos, two Tune Ups, watching Saturday Night Live when the cast still had Akroyd, Belushi, Jane "You Ignorant Slut", Bill Murray. The one on Greenville Avenue here in Dallas. Good memories. Burgers were pretty good too.
  5. ah, the memories. The "Tune-Up." That tall blue drink was all sorts of deliciousness.
  6. Ah yes... the joys of the "Instant Gratification Internet Generation." The Knuckleheads who spout off wisdom like, "Last year, I got my college degree after 7 years in Social Justice Engineering and now I deserve to be your Chief Operating Officer!" and, "My 25 followers on Tik Tok agree that since we did not win a 'Natty' in the first year of our new coach, he should be fired!" Now, get off my lawn.
  7. So, I wanted to recheck the statistics regarding our mentally impaired, brethren in College Station. 59 games in Austin. Texas 45 wins. aggy 13 wins. 1 aggy kissing its sister sheep. 50 games in College Station. Texas 26 wins. aggy 22 wins. 2 aggy kissing its sister sheep. 9 neutral site games (Dallas, Houston, San Antonio). Texas 5 wins. aggy 2 wins. 2 aggy kissing its sister sheep. Total Record . Texas 76 wins. aggy 37 wins. 5 aggy kissing its sister sheep. In short, it doesn't make a difference where we play. aggy inferiority is omnipresent.
  8. Thank you for the advice on the tallow and wrapping at the stall. I did both. I was a mohron and did not take pics. Kept the smoker between 225 and 250. Wrapped when the thermometer hit 150. It hit 200 after about 6 hours, pulled it and let it sit for an hour. Ok smoke ring. Pretty moist. It would not come close to passing the Surlyite Seal of Approval. But, for Yankees and brisket novices, they thought it was pretty damned good. Surly would rate it perhaps a 5. They thought it was a 9. God willing and the creek don't rise, I won't have to try to smoke just a flat ever again.
  9. Looks good! I like mine to not be completely smooth. The different textures adds added flavor and interest.
  10. I have only done whole briskets. This has had most of the fan trimmed off of it, is very lean. With it only being the flat was curious about whether the stall would be the same. As for "cooking the brisket," isn't the correct term of art, "smoking the brisket?" I do appreciate the Surlyite response though.
  11. Este...
  12. Well hell ... So, the resident Yankees from down the street want to do a brisket (as an addition to Turkey) on Thanksgiving. It seems that their family from up north will be here in Dallas. So, to test things out beforehand, they bought two separate, 2 pound flats from Market City. (Yes, I know, I know). She made one, slow cooked it in her crock pot. If you like pot roast, it's passable. Now, I have a small off-set smoker. I'm thinking a simple rub (salt and pepper); Hickory wood. Get temp around 250. Since the thing is so small, I'm thinking of just leaving it on until an internal temp of 195 is hit, pull and then rest for about an hour. Any other suggestions from you gurus?
  13. Just go with the Apple Cider and no OJ. We have some good friends, neighbors who refer to my cranberry sauce as "cranberry crack." Enjoy!
  14. It's the "Coach Potato Bizarro World Curse!" Any program that "Walking Dysfunctionality" touches turns not just to defecation, but whale defecation at the bottom of the ocean. Texas? Hello darkness my old friend. USF? YIKES! Historically bad. U of Miami? They have 45 reasons to marvel at his incompetence as a defensive coordinator. 45. As in the number of points given up each game to Florida State, Duke and ... Middle Tennessee State. As in, in those 3 losses, USF has given up more points than Illinois and Minnesota have given up ... over their 10 game season so far! No, I'm not bitter much about Coach Potato. Where's my Xanax!
  15. So, Sunday October 30 was the 6th commemoration of my daughter being taken after fighting eating disorders for 7 years. I thought... no, I knew that the day would be horrifically bad. But then ... I am so blessed to have a son, and close friends who prop me up on the worst of days. And, I have been given the ability to write somewhat coherently about thoughts and feelings. Even still ... http://adadsjourneywitheatingdisorders.home.blog/2022/10/31/october-30-2016/
  16. Shifting gears here ... About 5 or 6 years ago, I attended the wedding of the son of a good friend of mine. The event was very nice, wedding held at the Pharmacy Museum. We did the strolling through the French Quarter, on the streets with a police escort. Nice event. The next night, I had booked a room at the Columns Hotel. The Columns is a beautiful hotel in the Garden District. Originally built in 1883 and restored to its former grandeur. Naturally, rumors about ghosts, hauntings and apparitions since the Columns had gone through some very tough times in the past. Particularly, Room 10. So naturally, I requested and got, Room 10 for the night. That room is opulent in an old N'awlins way. Well, my then current lust interest and I walk up the street, watch the Game of Thrones episode that night at the bar and return to the Columns. Rather tepid, uninspiring swapping of bodily fluids. Then sleep. About 2:00 a.m., I wake up ... a bit. You know when you are in a half awake, half asleep state. But, I become acutely aware of this ice cold sensation slowly going down my arm. And I sense ... I know, I absolutely know, that there is some... presence, right there. The room is dark of course. But, I slowly lift my head since I hear something in the bathroom... some noise that to this day, I cannot identify for sure. I try to turn my head to look toward the bathroom but it is almost as if a presence is holding my head in place, refusing to let me turn my head. And this fear just permeates every aspect. I wake up around 6:00 a.m. ... covered in sweat. The sheets are soaked with sweat. And the room is peaceful. When asked, she has no idea at all of the "presence." Just thinking about it brings reflections of, perhaps some of the feelings that night.
  17. 42.2(a) Classified drivers who have received 15 or less (?) cumulative grid penalties ... SWEET BLUE JUMPIN' BUDDHA IN A CLOWN CAR! It's not that difficult. "Fewer" is to be used with countable nouns like ... penalties! "Less" is used for singular mass nouns .. like "less salt," "less money" etc.
  18. Linda Cohn?
  19. So, for this of us who were there in 1990 ... the loudest home game I have ever been to! (been going since 1977) We exorcised some demons that night. And the dulcet tones of Wally Pryor yelling out, "Some one get those idiots off the goal posts!" was greatness.
  20. Sooooooo ... This past late Saturday afternoon, the Consort and I are driving to a party. We have the Alabama - Tennessee game on the radio. It is being broadcast on the Ticket. Not much time left on the clock. Bama is driving. The Suspenders is building. Then, about 20 seconds left in the game. It is 4th down. Bama trots out its field goal team. They are lining up for the snap ... and THEN ... STATIC... MORE STATIC ... THEN ... Welcome to the TICKET. This is the Dallas Stars Pre-game show! Well, we get to the party in less than 5 minutes. I ask about the game ... "So, I presume Bama won?" "Oh no... it was an epic finish! Tennessee won! It was incredible! Now, I believe that the switch over was probably automatic... but even still, what a huge fuck up.
  21. You know... not to put too fine of a point on it but...
  22. But before we can start awarding ourselves Victoria Crosses and Congressional Medals of Honor and so on and so forth and such like... I think I'd better point out that one, we are still incredibly young on the offensive line. That two, our wide receiver room does not have the depth we need yet. That three, with as good as Ewers appears to be, his college experience consists of one game against Spare University, half of the first quarter against Bama and a very impressive beat down against ou. There will be growing pains. And that four, I don't think our little genius Sergeant Miller there has even got a box of matches left in his suitcase. And so I think we can take it, gentlemen, that we're going to have a very long walk home.
  23. As for an "alternate uniform," how wonderfully common while also being contrived at the same time.

Soooo... I'm chronologically 63 rotations around the sun... but, mentally I'm about 35 and emotionally about 12 years old. My 32nd Texas - ou game. To call it "glorious" would be charitable. So much more than that. Went to MiCo at Klyde Warren Park after the game. A LOT of Sooner fans there finishing up their food. "Oh... you didn't stay for the entire game?" I had to go to a "80s Prom Party" a good friend put on that night. So ... (and you can't see it but the bow tie had burnt orange longhorn heads on it). These times don't happen that often, but when they do ....
  25. So, assuming Rojo leaves this year ... with a good combine he is what ... a 6th round pick? Maybe 5th? But, if he comes back, Texas will have a one of the top QBs in the nation, an offensive line with another year of strength and conditioning under its belt, a wide receiver group second to none and Rojo would be undoubtedly, the lead RB at the start of the year. With a great year, does Rojo elevate himself to possibly a third round pick? Maybe 2nd? So, 5th round picks average about $680K their first year. 6th round picks average about $650K. The 1st pick in the 2nd round will get about $8.68 million, the last pick in the 2nd about $5.24 million. The 1st pick in the 3rd round will get about $5 million. The last pick in the 3rd round will get about $4.4 million. So, if Rojo returns, with some NIL revenue, an insurance contract to protest against injury, and if he busts his ass ... financially, it may be in his interest to return.
